I honestly thought that the support would be greater, but when you are not a member of any "gang", then you shouldn't expect too much.

Yes, I am one of those who is only now seeing your application, and I am supporting it. Hopefully, you will join us soon. I must inform you that theymos do not care about any specific gangs or any gang at all; I was given that role despite not belonging to any gang; I am simply an old sheriff.

 I noticed you did not specify which board you want to be a merit source for; it is critical that you do so so that theymos has less work to do. Additionally, you must PM theymos and keep sending reminder.

That was more of a joke than a serious statement, I was actually referring to this - and as far as I can see, I haven't been able to join any gangs (so far)

I didn't specify a single board, because as you can see from the post history, I'm active throughout the forum (except Altcoins boards). As for the PM, it doesn't seem like a good idea to me because I'm sure the admin noticed this topic and everything else would just be unnecessary pressure.

The easiest and least time-consuming way to distribute merits is to do it while reading and writing in the boards/threads which are already of interest to you. Doing it that way, is better than browsing the forum for the sole purpose of finding merit-worthy posts. Besides, theymos doesn't always have specific local boards in mind when he makes his selection for new merit sources.

We really really needs unbiased merits giver like you though they are in most times seen in high rank members (reputable members) though they give vital information and contribute meaningfully which need merits to encourage them. But also come down to encourage others everyone needs you too. And as Mr. Igebotz as said, the way I also looked at it, PM is another approach that can fast track the application. So I will also want you to try it. There are numerous applications for merit source and the smart applicants made extra communicational efforts to the admin for extra review of the request. That is my thinking. I also support you very firm.

I don't see how a pm to Theymos is going to speed up things here, and it will most likely be ignored because it is unnecessary. Do you have any information or knowledge about merit source applicants that were accepted because they sent a message to the admin? Theymos has surely seen this thread and he knows the reputation of this user, so i am sure he will consider this application when next he wants to make new merit sources.

Whilst coming from me, a member with not much merit or post count, I support you for your application. One thing I've noticed on the forum over the last few months is that it's very difficult to obtain merit. This is okay, as it drives high quality posts that are productive. However, because of the post signature campaigns, there has been a rise of high character but low quality posts in many forum topics. This makes it a lot more difficult for merit sources to, at first glance distinguish a user comments as high quality, and can be skimmed over for potentially receiving merit. At least that has been my experience. I support you in this application for a new merit source.

Yes you were not a merit source not until Theymos made you one (congrats to that), and for any bitcointalker to become a merit source the person need to do more reading than writing so that he could find some post/threads that are worthy of merits.
However, I really support the OP (Lucius) to become a merit source because he is a quality poster, and he's dedicated to the forum and he is also a generous merit giver.

From answering my questions to clearing confusions and so on. You have friendly behavior without any question. I have been noticing that since my newbie days. One trick (I won't say trick, but...) I learned from you is making quotes smaller. You always do that in your posts.

Your application probably makes sense, because you earned 5000 merit. I assume that you understood which posts are worth rewarding, so you have a good direction if you would be a merit source. Also, I believe that in the case of consideration for approving you as a merit source, it is enough for the admin to look at your send merit log to make a decision.

I would think that Lucius would be a good judge of character and posts to distribute the merits to deserving sources. I think Lucious is well known for his straight shooter personality on this forum. I would give him a vote.

I am glad to see someone who I remember as a beginner, and who managed to reach the Senior rank in less than 2 years, which is certainly proof that it is possible. If I helped in any way, I can only say that the help was definitely worth it.

Obviously, I remained somewhere under the radar when such decisions were made (at least as far as those who became sources of merits without asking for it are concerned). Anyway, it's official now, so we'll see if the admin will approve the application. Thanks for your support.
