Basically there is nothing that can benefit a person in an addiction situation, and quite the opposite, as we know, it is a disastrous situation that creates a lot of stress and tension in life.

And we can see that quite a few people are now addicted, meaning did they choose to become addicted from the start and suffer many disasters in life? I think not at all, because after all there will never be anyone who wants to experience suffering in any way.

I was actually growing in to becoming a victim of addiction some time ago but was lucky enough I can came out of it as I understand better what exactly gambling entails, yeah is not something that one needs to completely rely on for maximizing profits or a job hence it will definitely ruin your life entirely where can even be borrowing to gamble, spending more time energy and resources, being very anxious, anxiety, depressed, not taking good care of yourself generally because all what you be thinking is how to get back your lost money and that is chasing your losses which is a very bad approach towards gambling which I now know better.

Exactly I just wonder why op decided to deduce the whole concept about addiction being a choice. Addiction is kind of an unplanned event. It happens unknowingly with the gambling taken off guard. As a gambler when we play we just want to make the best out of it. So we just try to maximize our wins and minimize the risk of losing our games. If I may chime in, who actually takes the blame for a player's addiction. Gamblers own 100% control of the actions they take in a session. How they think, who they talk to, and the amount of money they wager all is dependent on the gambler. Addiction doesn't happen to everyone, but gamblers somehow are all indebted to addiction if they lose guard on their limitations. At first I dealt with similar believes of addicts not being the fault to their problem.

But changed this false thoughts after going through some deep rooted research on this conversation which switched quickly, in me, with proves to see why player's are 100% the cause of their problem gambling. If addiction does not have a severe effect on us then we have to know that we are not too addicted to that particular thing. Addiction can still be minimized and it is good we try as much to work on ourselves so we don't have to be complaining too much that we are not seeing any results. Addiction need to be controlled by us if we want to be getting results from what we are doing. When we are to in a hurry to be winning everytime we bet, we might be surprised that we could be addicted to such things. They choose it by starting out. Many people know that gambling can be addictive. They think about it and in the end decide to try it out. Then they try it again and again and after trying for the 100th time they find out they're addicted and cannot stop, but they could stop after the first 10 or 20 runs to the casino. At that time they were still thinking straight and were not addicted, yet they consciously chose to keep playing. That's what OP is talking about. We always have a choice and if we choose to take that drug for the first time or get drunk for the first time, we open ourselves to addiction.

There are stage in life where your life doesn't concern what everyone thinks about. You are 18 years which is permissable to bet, you have the money which is not stolen but your own money, you understand how it works but if even if you don't or loss money, you are definitely responsible for any consequences of your actions, no one dare tells you what you do and not to do unless you are out of line and I'm sure not only one person will say about it, it will be many.

However, you should have someone to listen to, if you are been stubborn all the time. There are things you might not know you are doing in and because you don't take advice from others, people will stay away from telling you the truth. There are some people that will rather feed you with lies than the truth because it will looks like it will hurt your feelings.
