Internet is one of the technologies right now that seems people can too much like if they got cut with their connection we know how establishments connect and operate with the help of the internet and of course, the higher countries do not want to have to stop this kind of feature technology operation so others don't need to get worried about, if the internet crash seems chaos and disaster to the world. This kind of thing is out of bounds with the others because your government restricts internet usage in your country and seems its seems you are having trouble with the Bitcoin transaction because it's connected to the network. A possible case scenario with this is your asset will become idle until you change your location without the restriction of internet connection.

In addition to satellite internet and radio connections, mesh networks could be a solution, depending on the situation.

Seems the ways are very Complicated and currently in this situation I think implementing those are one kind of impossible thing.

It seems complicated, but it's not impossible. Even the internet as we know it today seemed complex in its early days. I'm old enough to remember my early internet experiences with dial-up modems and whatnot.  It was slow, complicated, and almost impossible for many to access. However, as demand grew and more people adopted it, technology evolved to meet those needs. The same thing can happen again if there is a need for it.

But implementation will take a lot of time and money, it is not easy and cannot be completed in a short time, and will even be delayed indefinitely if there are not enough resources to complete it. Comparing bitcoin with the internet is quite lame because the needs of both have a huge gap. The internet is much more important and it has received strong support from the government to become as perfect as it is today but meanwhile I am quite sure that bitcoin will not receive the same support from the government.

I have also heard about some solutions to use bitcoin without internet but I believe that will never be possible, bitcoin is completely dependent on internet.

Well, I disagree.  We all know that Bitcoin's decentralized nature is both its strength and its challenge, but just because something seems impossible now though doesnt mean it always will be. Technology keeps shocking us with its wild new capabilities.  Solutions for offline Bitcoin transactions could show up down the road even if that seems impossible now.

I try to search about possible solution if it happens that internet will shutdown.

And here are the results suggested by this article https://www.altcoinbuzz.io/bitcoin-and-crypto-guide/4-ways-to-make-on-chain-transfers-without-internet/

I didn't try this but for sure there would be more easier method will be develop if there's certain cases like this will happen. Since there's nothing impossible on technology and maybe there are great devs could able to find a solution regarding on how they can transfer bitcoin easily without using internet.

I really don't think about it too much. I'm prepared to have some of my money in cash in case of emergency and that's all.
If there's Internet outage, I won't have my bank account, communication with some of my friends, I won't be ale to check prices, stocks, news, you name it. I'll have to wait it out and endure,, like most other people. The difference is that I have cash. I have almost the same amount of money in physical form than I have in digital, so I'm sure I'll be better suited to survive than people who rely on their credit cards.
It is not only the matter of the cash it is matter of our Careers like as a freelancers and bitcoiner and trader I have in huge losses specially lose some of my client and failed to take any trades. Your case may be different because may be you have a physical business in your local area or something else that  so you are not too worried about this kind of situation. But have you ever thought about Bitcoin mining and will gonna happen to them? Or the freelancing? How are they doing at this time? I also have cash to pass this time but I am thinking about how to handle the next situation.

Business is not going to work if there's no Internet, unless you run a grocery store or something. Nowadays everything is Internet-based, so by not being worried I mean that I have money and I will survive, but I'm aware of the fact that people won't go to work because even some security systems in companies run on Internet, so no network - no access, even if the business is physical.
I'm not worried about miners because no Internet means no transactions for them to process. They can turn their miners off for a while and wait for the problem to be fixed. You're worried about not having a job as a freelancer, but this won't be your biggest problem.

Addition to mesh networks:
Seems the ways are very Complicated and currently in this situation I think implementing those are one kind of impossible thing.
The advantage of mesh networks is that they almost don't need investments in infrastructure. People only have to install a software on their Internet routers, and the software is mostly open source and free (based on Linux).

I don't know if in Bangladesh "modem-routers" are popular though, like in some other countries. Often ISPs lend them for free to their customers, and in some cases it is not allowed to change the software on them.

Of course some structure is needed, above all to be able to communicate to attract new participants. In Europe for example most mesh network communities are organized as civil associations (for example Freifunk Aachen, which is centered in the city of Aachen in Germany (near the western frontier), but has also participants in Belgium and the Netherlands. I could understand however that in a more authoritarian country people would be more hesitant to organize "visibly" in such an association.

It is not mandatory to organize the community in this way. In theory simply a group of neighbors can install the software on their routers and start to communicate themselves, for example sharing a single internet node, or for communication inside of their neighborhood. But at least a website or social network profile is useful to coordinate, e.g. to discuss which software is used.

I have not found a mesh network community in Bangladesh. There is a conventional ISP called "Mesh Network BD" though, but that's probably just marketing.

It's interesting that mesh networking according to this site seems to be popular in Cuba. Cuba is also authoritarian and has bad and "supervised" internet service. So it's likely the conditions are quite similar to Bangladesh.

Pretty sure that it will cause some panic to other crypto holders if the internet is shutdown in their country for 5 days. Businesses that needs internet would surely not in a good situation and could lose profits within 5 days. If they want to use satellite internet then they can still access the internet but the question is, does the satellite internet on their country cheap or affordable?, some countries where $120 per month is already expensive and the salary won't have anything left for daily necessities.

Let me tell you about our modem-routers mostly I can say 90%+ people are using those routers which give only 400squarfit range and when it cross the range the speed goes down very low. And as you know that Bangladesh is the thrid world country here everything is on development phase so there is very low percentage in our country which cover the Router or broadband connection.
And most of the users are friendly with the windows os, huge numbers of peoples think that Linux os is very complicated to handle. Anyway, all these aspects I think it's kinda impossible to spread up these kind of topology in my region.  Smiley
Anyway thank you for your info's about the mesh topology, it's gives me also an idea to start a new thing.

This is not only about bitcoin but for all those  innovations that can only be accessible through internet occurrence. And I'd say majority we have right now, internet connection is what we need the most. While this can be quite impossible seeing the internet goes shutdown, but we all know it may actually happen if there are unpredictable circumstances that suddenly occur. And for this, even if we aren't ready for that, but we all know we should prepare for it, for the sake of our bitcoin investment and make it grow more and progress.

With inflation levels rising sky-high, it would be dumb enough to hoard cash in case of emergencies. You're better off holding Gold or BTC in a paper wallet. The latter can still be used without an Internet connection. It's just that you won't have a way to declare transactions as final (unless you connect to the Internet and broadcast it to the Blockchain). It's something I wouldn't worry much about. Especially when there are many ways to get access to Bitcoin. The only downside is the limited number of merchants accepting the cryptocurrency as payment method.

At least, BTC is off to a good start. With due time, it will improve enough until it becomes a "force to reckon with". Just buy, "hodl", and forget about the rest. Wink

I hope this doesn't happen in my country.
A dictatorial government only cares about its own profit by sacrificing or ignoring what the people need. The only way to overthrow a dictatorial government is by holding large-scale demonstrations. When the power of the people has been formed, no one can stop it. During this period, all transactions using the Internet cannot be carried out, in this situation, not only my Bitcoiner feels disadvantaged, many other parties cannot carry out their routines as usual. The only way to get out of the hostage situation imposed by the government is by relying on satellite internet, you can be independent with satellite internet even if the government in your country does not have the good faith to turn on the internet.

I can agree with you, autocratic governments only think about their own interests, they don't think about the people of the country or even about the plight of the people, no matter what country they are in government. Demonstrators are fired upon indiscriminately when they agitate to oust the dictatorial government of our country. Even demanding fair rights in this country are indiscriminately shot and even given death penalty. As it has emerged within this country within a few days.

In a country called Bangladesh, internet connectivity was completely disrupted for almost 7 days. They systematically cut off internet connections across the country and even during this time they shot and killed students in various universities across the country. That was their sole purpose. However, they did not care about the fact that if there is no Internet, the economic speed of the whole country will slow down. Many crypto investors, freelancers and garments owners living in our country have suffered huge losses. Because of the lack of broadband and internet connectivity on different SIMs, all online activities in the country were disrupted or even completely stopped. Due to lack of internet connection we failed to invest, trading, cryptocurrency exchange, P2P transactions and even access this forum. Now the only way to solve this problem is to use satellite internet which can make us independent.

Wink

I have the opposite thought, it would be stupid to not have cash or savings. Inflation sounds very terrible and terrible but I want to know what is the annual inflation rate in your country and is it so terrible that it loses 30% of its value in a short period of time? Meanwhile, BTC could even drop 20% or even 50% in a few months if a black swan occurs, and I don't think it's a wise idea to have all of our assets in BTC.

Many people keep talking about inflation but do they really know how much inflation is in their country and what the short-term impact is? I guess not many people know but they love to talk about inflation every day. You should have some cash or some emergency savings because I believe that our cash will not suddenly lose 20%-30% of its value in a month or a few months.

Investing for the long term and saving for emergencies are completely different.

If the internet is down there is nothing you can do until the connection is restored. If the internet is intentionally shut down by the government what can you do? Even satellite communication may be unavailable because the government may be jamming the connection. In this case the only solution is to emigrate out of the country or wait if you cannot travel.

As I said, there have been many articles about different methods to use bitcoin without the internet but we need to be realistic that so far there is no usable solution. It's all just ideas, hypotheses, and just on paper.
Talking about the future, if you believe that technology is constantly evolving and anything is possible then I do not rule out the possibility that a better currency than bitcoin will appear in the future when technology advances a level. Until we find a solution to use bitcoin without the internet, maybe by then there will be something to replace it.
I don't want to think too far ahead about what we cannot know, we should accept the fact that bitcoin is inseparable from the internet these days and for the foreseeable future.

Actually, I have to disagree with you on this one also. The idea that there are no usable solutions for using Bitcoin without the internet isn't entirely accurate. Sure, the majority of methods are still in development or not widely adopted, but there are real, functioning systems out there.

For instance, methods like SMS-based transactions or using satellite technology to broadcast Bitcoin transactions already exist. Companies like Blockstream have been using satellite networks to transmit Bitcoin data, allowing transactions even in areas without internet access.  There is also the case of the Finnish Kryptoradio project which successfully broadcast Bitcoin transactions over a national digital TV network more than ten years ago.  These aren't just "ideas" or "hypotheses". They're operational technologies that people have successfully demonstrated in real life.  Sure, most ways of using Bitcoin without the internet are still getting off the ground, but it's not true there's nothing out there that actually works.

Of course. Always maintain a low portion of cash savings for emergency situations. With inflation rising like crazy, it would be unwise to risk it all in Fiat. A little over here and a little over there should do the trick. I'm talking about putting a portion of your money into Gold, Bitcoin, Cash, etc. (diversification).

While it's still possible to use Bitcoin without Internet, you'd be limited to the number of physical merchants/businesses accepting it as payment method. The vast majority are still sided with Fiat. Who knows? Maybe this will change once BTC gets adopted by every single country in the world. One could only dream about it. Smiley

Yes, it would be stupid if all our assets were 100% fiat as inflation would cause them to lose value over time but keeping a low amount of fiat in a bank or in cash would be very useful in our lives. That will help us be more proactive in life, especially in emergencies.

Like the correction a few days ago, bitcoin dropped more than 10% in just 1 day. If we needed money urgently that day, would we happily accept cutting losses? Meanwhile, with fiat, we will have no problems at all. The role of fiat is extremely important in our daily lives, don't try to deny its role.

But I wonder, how would we use bitcoin without the internet? If that can be done, why didn't Bangladeshi investors think of this when their internet was cut off for days?

Bitcoin's reliance on the internet is a significant vulnerability. Bitcoin is highly dependent on the internet for transactions, communication, and maintaining its decentralized ledger. However, using Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies in situations without the internet is challenging and requires special preparation. Some Bitcoin users advocate for mesh networks, which are decentralized, peer-to-peer networks that can operate without traditional internet infrastructure. These networks can broadcast and confirm Bitcoin transactions even when the internet is unavailable. While these solutions exist, they are not yet widely adopted or fully reliable. Using Bitcoin or cryptocurrency without the internet requires specific knowledge, equipment, and preparation. Extensive research and discussion are needed for Bitcoin users to prepare for or adapt to such situations.
