Crawford said he was ready to fight Canelo, but just Canelo avoided fighting him in every possible way, and at first he didn't want to agree on the weight class in which to fight, and then Canelo asked for 150 million for the fight, and this despite the fact that on average Canelo's fights bring only 300 thousand paid subscriptions, which is very little and it's logical because everyone has already realized that Canelo has become a boring boxer, carefully choosing his opponents.
Canelo's conflict with Turki happened because the Sheik wanted to see Canelo fight Crawford or Benevides, but Canelo refused and said he was focused on Berlanga.
Although a fight between Canelo and Crawford would allow both of them to retire with huge money, apparently Canelo doesn't want to take that risk because he is afraid of Crawford.

The Crawford and the Benavidez issues established the fact that he wants to protect his legacy but not his reputation as a fighter who can face just anybody.

This will hurt him when he retires. Every time Canelo is mentioned, the names of Crawford and Benavidez will pop up as potential fighters who can give him a real challenge in his legacy; unfortunately, he intends or prefers to play it safe to safeguard all he achieved all throughout his career.

Berlanga appears to bully Canelo; that's all he can do, but in reality he is no match. He tries to be confident, but we have seen how newbies like Berlanga struggle to match Canelo's skills and power, Berlanga is just another name added to Canelo's legacy.

So yes, apparently Canelo has already retired from boxing and is not going to fight serious opponents like Crawford or Benavides for fear of defeat in matches with them and now Canelo will probably pick up boxers who are not a big threat to him, like Edgar Berlanga, who talks a lot, but in fact has only 22 fights with not the strongest opponents. so for Canelo it should be a fairly easy and boring fight.

I would love to see him fight Crawford, but I think Crawford is afraid to go up and challenge Canelo in his weight class. There was a rumor before that Crawford would take the risk, but it has slowly faded, probably because Crawford realized it would be a suicide mission. Unfortunately, Canelo has become boring in his recent fights because it feels like he’s cherry-picking his opponents. While we want him to fight legitimate top-rated boxers, it seems like he’s always going in a different direction.
Crawford said he was ready to fight Canelo, but just Canelo avoided fighting him in every possible way and at first he didn't want to agree on the weight class in which to fight, and then Canelo asked for 150 million for the fight and this despite the fact that on average Canelo's fights bring only 300 thousand paid subscriptions, which is very little and it's logical, because everyone has already realized that Canelo has become a boring boxer, carefully choosing his opponents.
Canelo's conflict with Turki happened because the Sheik wanted to see Canelo fight Crawford or Benevides, but Canelo refused and said he was focused on Berlanga.
Although a fight between Canelo and Crawford would allow both of them to retire with huge money, but apparently Canelo doesn't want to take that risk because he is afraid of Crawford.

I think it was mor of Turki who doesn't want Crawford to fight Canelo base on the performance of Crawford at 154 lbs. Crawford is a brand ambassador or working under Hi Excellency so he has to say on who's next for Crawford.

And then Canelo and Turki going against each other in social media, a sign that Canelo might not get the pay check that he want's on his next fight and he wouldn't have a chance to fight at Saudi Arabia. Canelo though just trying to stay as he is the cash cow while Turki says that he wants to put up the best fight card.

In general Berlanga is not the worst fighter and the score of victories 22-0 shows that he is quite a serious boxer, besides he is taller than Canelo and his arm span is bigger, but I also think that as soon as Canelo for a couple of rounds will understand where Berlanga's weaknesses are, then as usual after 5-6 rounds Canelo will press and either win by knockout or on points, because even in competitive fights, judges try to judge always in favor of champions or more promoted fighters.

As for Crawford, he is 3 years older than Canelo and it is clear that he has half a year or a year before he retires, but Benavides is 27 years old and he can still face Canelo, who is 34 years old and I think at this rate, a fight a year or two, Canelo can still box at a high level for at least 3-4 years. Of course it is unlikely that he will be able to box at a high level like Bernard Hopkins until the age of 49, but up to 38-39 Canelo will still be competitive.

Berlanga's advantage is his youth, but other than that, Canelo has all the advantage. Although I think that against Munguia, he took some damage as well. And as we go and age, it might take a toll on Canelo later. And if Berlanga has enough power or if he had that volume punches like Munguia, he might have a good chance to win. Still depends on the version that Canelo will show here.

Scratch Crawford, Canelo is not that interested on him, although if he wanted to fight him, he is requesting a big amount of money that not even the Saudi's are more willing to shell out. And if they wanted to give Canelo a big paycheck, it will be against David Benavidez. But we have seen the Canelo is ducking the young Benavidez, instead opted for a lesser fighter in Munguia and Berlanga this year.

I do not think Canelo cares as much as someone like Mayweather about his legacy and this is more than anything about money, so unless there is such a high interest that Canelo is paid a fortune to fight Benavidez or Crawford he is not going to do it, which is his right as the champion but it is a decision for which he will be criticized heavily, since boxing fans are really getting tired of boxers avoiding each other and the fights they want to watch do not happen or they happen once both fighters are out of their primes.

Hearn was said to have offered $45M to Canelo to fight Benavidez. All rumors they say but Canelo was asking $200M. Canelo seems to have overvalued this one but he definitely has the stardom to ask for huge pay than Benavidez.

Canelo so far is the one that caused the UFC 306 event to flop since both events are held in Vegas and tickets in UFC have been reduced just to make people afford it.

Judging from his posture, Berlanga is indeed superior with his height which is superior to his opponent, this is one of the advantages for him because it is an opportunity for him to easily defeat his opponent whose height is below him. In addition, with his young age, I think Berlanga still has stamina that is burning at his age, if with experience, of course each of them has their own experience and has studied the weaknesses of their respective opponents.
Seeing physically, Berlanga has a superior strength too, but I understand that it is not a guarantee that he can win, we just need to sit back and watch and see the results that will happen later, whether there is a KO blow or the jury will decide which one wins between them. And if I have to choose, I choose Berlanga.

It's deceiving though to just look on the superior and physical advantage of a boxer and conclude that they are going to win. I wouldn't argue if you chooses to go with Berlanga, there are fans that might go with him as well.

However, he might not have the experience to beat a elite boxer in Canelo Alvarez. He didn't achieved this, being a unified SMW champion for not facing the best and not so best in this division. And just like Munguia, Berlanga is too green and that is why he is a huge underdog in this fight. But in any case, best of luck if you are going with Berlanga. But it could be a good fight, similar to Munguia fight that the young fighter has some of his best moments, but at the end of the final bell, Canelo's hand is raise and still....

As it was written here earlier, Canelo  now is a businessman not a boxer, but if Mayweather was really very cunning and waited for Pacquiao's best years to pass to fight him, but still fought him and we see now that Canelo avoids both Benavides and Crawford and even for big money doesn't really want to fight, because he realizes that it could be the last big money in his career if he loses. Now Canelo picks easier opponents and gets 45 million on fights and probably many more millions on publicity. In addition, Canelo has huge requirements for his opponents, who should not be over a certain weight and other points like venue, gloves and many other requirements that for many boxers make it impossible to fight and this is the difference between Canelo and Mayweather, who did not make such requirements for his opponents and usually agreed only on the fee and weight of the fight.

As I said before, it's not a guarantee that height will make you win, but at least there's an advantage to it. I'm picking Berlanga but I'm not going to bet on it because I don't have the mind to do that. With Canelo's fight against Munguia he did make Munguia pause when his hand was raised by the referee, and I think it's probably because of his experience that he knows the character of his opponent and what to do. Either this will happen again in his upcoming match against Berlanga or he will knock him out or Berlanga will beat him. How about you, do you have a choice between these two boxers?

Correct, he leverage his talent in the last 5 years or so of his career or after he bolted out from his partnership with Oscar Dela Hoya's GBP. And that's why Oscar is still salty about their break up. Because after that, Canelo demanded huge money, cemented his status as the cash cow of boxing.

Now, he demanded huge money for every fight and probably getting around $50 million minimum, gross live ticket, + PPV + guarantee. So we can't blame him for choosing fighters like Berlanga as his next fight because the risk is low but he will be getting a lot of money.

The clock is ticking boxing between Canelo Alvarez vs Edgar Berlanga is 3 days ahead  Shocked Shocked So what do u guys think about this duo? According to this site : The feel here is Canelo still has plenty left, even at 34 and with 65 fights on the slate. With no big name of note on his record, this is a big ask for Berlanga, and he is likely to lose clearly on the cards, possibly even tasting the canvas along the way.

So the site says it would the winner would be Canelo Alvarez but who knows right

I agree. It seems like he will keep on doing this kind of strategy until he retires. Well, it's not that bad if you don't want to get hurt. But still, there are sports fighters out there who like their legacy to be stamped for a long time and will be in discussions all the time.

Anyway, 3 more days to go and it will happen. I think we all know who is going to win this match and we are just waiting if ever Canelo's camp will somehow get some courage and face fighters who have a good match against him.

Too obvious. I don't think anyone would take the underdog. I won't.

Sometimes height will be a disadvantage, watch the fight between Fundora and Brian Mendoza, Sebastian Fundora is tall at 1.98 m and Mendoza at 1.78. And because of that difference, Mendoza's main target is Fundora's chin and he was able to knockout Fundora. Or Manny Pacquiao vs Antonio Margarito. Munguia did pretty well against Canelo, but as I have said, Canelo has a lot of experience under his belt and even score a knock down for the win.

That's why sport bookies favors Canelo here as they point him as a huge favorite because of that. The thing with Berlanga is that he is very confident, but it will be a rude awakening for him once his inside the ring with Canelo. I have Canelo here to win by decision, juicy odds, 3.x.

That $200M he is asking from the powerful broker from Saudi Arabia, and I think this is just Canelo baiting them, if they are wiling to pay then good for him, that is huge amount of money that we didn't even fathom is possible in boxing for just one fight. Fortunately, the Turki didn't fall for Canelo's trick and he says that him and Crawford are off and most like the Benavidez fight as well. But Turki is willing to have Benavidez face the championship winner between Bivol and Beterbiev. Canelo for sure will take a break at till the end of the year. For this figh, Berlanga is a 9:1 favorite. So for those who love the underdog, this is your chance, although the risk is very high.

That would make the promoter the laughing stock for giving $200 million to Canelo, Do you think he deserves that amount, when there are people around who can beat him and he is not invincible, By asking for $200 million, its just his way that he doesn't want to fight these fighters that they are recommending.

When Canelo lacks anymore opponents, he can cherry pick; he will just retire and will just say that he lacks quality opponent base don his standard.

Honestly, I want Berlanga to upset Canelo so Canelo will stop thinking that he is above everyone else and he is the greatest Mexican and modern day champion, I hope he will be overconfident, and Berlanga so hungry going to this fight, so we will have an upset scenario.

Hearn was said to have offered $45M to Canelo to fight Benavidez. All rumors they say but Canelo was asking $200M. Canelo seems to have overvalued this one but he definitely has the stardom to ask for huge pay than Benavidez.
Canelo has turned into a crafty businessman rather than a legacy seeking fighter, That price is way too much for a fighter that was beaten by Bivol and Mayweather and could potentially be beaten by Crawford and Benavidez By asking that money, he is not really interested in fighting fighters who has a chance to beat, he will likely settle for small money but effortlessly win a match against low level fighters like Berlanga.

I won't.
Well, the fact that his IBF title got stripped because his mandatory opponent isn't that appealing hence, not that popular and since he isn't popular, he will not get that much money from it. That alone is enough I guess to say that he's looking more of the money than the pride, just like what Crawford is doing.

As for who's going to win this match, I believe thinking that this would be a one-sided match is an overstatement. I mean Berlanga is still a good fighter even though he's less experienced compared to Canelo. Let's not forget that there was a time where Berlanga held a record for the most consecutive number of Round 1 Knockout wins with I think 13 or 14. Nevertheless, we can still say that Berlanga's punch is strong and we've seen Canelo being upset by Bivol and because of that, there's always a chance that it might happen again.

Overall, we're all happy and in 2-3 days, we will be seeing if Canelo will retain the belt, or we will see a new champion on the super middleweight division.  Smiley

That's right, Canelo does have a lot of experience, and Canelo threatens to KO him in Round 8, while Edgar Berlanga himself said "I'll KO him in Round 6", besides that Berlanga admitted that he was not afraid of Canelo's threat to KO him in round 8. In my opinion, this match is quite hot because they are fighting for Canelo's WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight titles.

Even though Canelo has shared the ring with tough boxers, it seems that Berlanga is not afraid at all, he remains confident that he can win, but it is certainly not easy to defeat Canelo who already has a lot of experience. If you say the chances of winning are probably greater for Canelo. It is not surprising that bookies like Canelo because it is already clear that he is a tough fighter in his class.

Here are Alvarez and Berlanga's quick records and stats.

No doubt that the odds are really for Canelo Alvarez, the experience is really for him, total fights are more than two from Edgar Berlanga.
The only advantage I can see for Edgar Berlanga is the height, reach, and his being undefeated, he needs to win to protect his being undefeated. I am waiting for this kind of fight because a boxer is undefeated.
