As it was written here earlier, Canelo  now is a businessman not a boxer, but if Mayweather was really very cunning and waited for Pacquiao's best years to pass to fight him, but still fought him and we see now that Canelo avoids both Benavides and Crawford and even for big money doesn't really want to fight, because he realizes that it could be the last big money in his career if he loses. Now Canelo picks easier opponents and gets 45 million on fights and probably many more millions on publicity. In addition, Canelo has huge requirements for his opponents, who should not be over a certain weight and other points like venue, gloves and many other requirements that for many boxers make it impossible to fight and this is the difference between Canelo and Mayweather, who did not make such requirements for his opponents and usually agreed only on the fee and weight of the fight.

Correct, he leverage his talent in the last 5 years or so of his career or after he bolted out from his partnership with Oscar Dela Hoya's GBP. And that's why Oscar is still salty about their break up. Because after that, Canelo demanded huge money, cemented his status as the cash cow of boxing.

Now, he demanded huge money for every fight and probably getting around $50 million minimum, gross live ticket, + PPV + guarantee. So we can't blame him for choosing fighters like Berlanga as his next fight because the risk is low but he will be getting a lot of money.

I agree. It seems like he will keep on doing this kind of strategy until he retires. Well, it's not that bad if you don't want to get hurt. But still, there are sports fighters out there who like their legacy to be stamped for a long time and will be in discussions all the time.

Sometimes height will be a disadvantage, watch the fight between Fundora and Brian Mendoza, Sebastian Fundora is tall at 1.98 m and Mendoza at 1.78. And because of that difference, Mendoza's main target is Fundora's chin and he was able to knockout Fundora. Or Manny Pacquiao vs Antonio Margarito. Munguia did pretty well against Canelo, but as I have said, Canelo has a lot of experience under his belt and even score a knock down for the win.
