Imagine one day you open your wallet and discover that you've received 10,000 Bitcoin by mistake from a stranger. What would you do?

Obviously I find out who mistakenly sent it to me, and return it.  Smiley   Otherwise I spend the rest of my life looking over my shoulder for taking half a billion dollars that I was not entitled to.

Why did you immediately think that it came from some dark web overload? It could have come from someone who bought Bitcoin early; I mean, they also have that much.

Neither of those can track you down for at least two years and you can hide somewhere safe.

Why did you immediately think that?   I would worry about anyone losing half a billion dollars.   Especially if I want to spend it and draw attention to myself.

its not yours and for sure the one who owns that bitcoin will do anything to look for who received that amount ,  so extend your hands reaching for who have wrongly sent you that bitcoins and give them back or else your life might be in trouble and you don't know that this owner will  be generous to give you more than what you are asking .

I would trade it for half the price on DNM for Monero, not all at once to not get robbed by the market admins.
Then wait for the upcoming FCMP upgrade and do many transfers from safe place over TOR and from VM to be certain it's washed clean.

I would keep it in Monero because going back to any transparent network would get me caught and trade smaller amounts for FIAT when needed  Cool

its not yours...

Not your keys, not your coins  Grin Grin Grin

BTW, some scammers increase their chance by address poisoning, you generate similar address (beginning and ending the same) with software you can find on this forum and then send from this wallets very small amounts to the attacked address in hope he will just copy/paste last address without checking full address and send money to you by mistake.

I would send him $5 worth of Bitcoin back with a message "HODL"  Grin - Yes, I am EVIL.

Well I would think it is a dream to get this much Bitcoins. It is so much money we can share it with all the people we know and it will not run out of funds.

It would make me scared they were from someone bad and worry about that. That is alot of money someone will do bad things to get it back.

I will send this back to the address because this will bring either trouble or luck to me .

Luck if this is coming from a safe owner that mistakenly sent the amount.

Trouble if the sender is a criminal account and this will put me to being hunted by the authority .

I would have cashed it out if I had the opportunity and hid some of it, some for the first time for life. Well, then how will it go.

It was his fault and how do even find the owner?

If I got them, I would like to provide a home to the poor people in my country.

So what? so they can have even more children? this is a lucky strike that happened to one of billion and you shouldn't waste it to unending cycle.

I would trade it for half the price on DNM for Monero, not all at once to not get robbed by the market admins.

this acutely the best replay so far.
respect to you anarkiboy, The law doesn't protect the dupes.

Say that this person has two years before he finally finds the owner of the receiving address. What can you do to hide?

You already used up all of your luck when you received it. So if you're scared of what will happen, then you should send it back immediately. Even if the authority hunted you down, it was sent by mistake. The real danger here is if the criminal hunts you down, and I doubt he can do that in two years, as it isn't easy to track down the address's owner.

I would answer him: "Thank you Satoshi"

what if he isn't Satoshi tho?

I would have cashed it out if I had the opportunity and hid some of it, some for the first time for life. Well, then how will it go.
I like the way you think

You need to get into cash right away, then get out of the country and get high.
you gonna spend all of it on weed? save some to the hedonism!

I would definitely spend it all on a pizza
What is it with you Bitcoiners and pizza? Don't you guys like burgers or something?

You can buy the whole island for yourself

You can actually but how do gonna make this money to be legit?
will you say that you bought it when Bitcoin was 0.1$?

It seems to me that there is a high probability that you can simply be killed and robbed, the amount is not 100 dollars.

Your just looking for justification of how you don't wanna bring it back , because you can just easily send back to the same address that have sent you right?

but of course you will not agree on that because you don't wnat to bring it back .
