If you take a look at the top coins any given day you will see the name of altcoins there and not bitcoin, so those newbies reason that if they invest in those coins they will make more money than with bitcoin.

But with tens of thousands of coins on the market how can anyone know which coin will move up that particular day? No one can do it, besides investing is way more complex than just buying an asset for a price and then selling it for a higher one, investing requires that you actively research the projects in which you are interested, and if you actually do that you will see that altcoins are just scams, with bitcoin being the only one worthy of being held on your portfolio, so if people want to waste their time with shitcoins, they can do it, but they have very low chances of succeeding at all.

I think you need to understand total market capitalization. Bitcoin has the biggest market cap in terms of money invested in it, so the amount of money that you need to have in order to raise the price of Bitcoin would be significantly higher compared to an altcoin that has a lower market cap.

I was suprised at the OP's statement but then when I came across the word (newbies) it no longer came as a surprise. Most of these new investors always come up with excuses that the price of Bitcoin is the hindrance for investing on it, but then you'll begin to wonder if they've not come across the dca method well maybe they might be ignorant about that but as a new investor who doesn't have broad knowledge about Cryptocurrency in general, building a portfolio with the most outstanding Cryptocurrency is the best option and Bitcoin is no doubt the best crypto asset for investment regardless of it's price or the fact that there are good Alts with potential. Well it's anyone's choice to invest on whatever assets they want to in the crypto market but they should also have it in mind that most of these Alts are shit coins (pump and dumps) so they should be very sure about a coin, observe it's market cap and how profitable it's been over time before investing on it.

I see crwth to be more correct about this. If you check the market dominance of bitcoin, it is more than 54%. There are tens of thousands of cryptocurrencies. This clearly indicates that there is more investment in bitcoin. But just like you posted, some people invested in altcoins because they are volatile more which they think will result in profit. The days of irrecoverable losses are coming if they do not sell the altcoins.

Altcoins make more money than Bitcoin, especially for people who don't have a lot to spare into investments, to make huge money from Bitcoin you need large amount of money to Buy Bitcoin when its down in value.

The difference is altcoins are higher risk investment, few months ago I won't up over 20k in dollars on my altcoin portfolio, I took very small profits off the table and today I am down like 70% already, if we are to look at the Bitcoin side its not the same, Bitcoin is still profitable till today compare to when I invested in my altcoins year ago.

Eventually if altcoin season starts I could end up with more insane gains than if I have choose to invest in Bitcoin instead, its a matter of choice but Bitcoin is way safer than altcoins.

Well I think there is still some people that want to become rich very fast. There is people that remember the ico times when alt coins were making very big profits fast.
But this is not something I think is wise for the investor. If we just buy more Bitcoin then we do the alt coins we will have big profits. Alt coins is good for your portfolio but if we want big gains we need to hodl Bitcoin.

It is, in terms of (possible) immediate profit margin. I highly doubt you'd ever see Bitcoin give someone double the profit in say, a month or two. In altcoins? Some coins have graphs that show just that (ignoring the fact that some of them are manipulated by the team ofc). You are absolutely right that market capitalization is an important market in dynamic and indicates the sentiment of the market participant. Bitcoin, with its massive requires significant influx of funds to move its price. This why, even with large investment the price change might be relatively low compared to alts market.

It’s because it’s cheaper & you can make much more money if you invest in the right altcoins. The issue you have is that it’s hard to get the right altcoins because lots of them are scams or rug pulls. The point is that if it's not all of people can afford to buy huge amounts of bitcoin with their limited money. Use your sense, if someone has only 50 bucks to invest, and shall he buy bitcoin? I'd call that guy is quite stupid if he buys bitcoin to invest.
The better for him to buy altcoins which can give more return than bitcoin. Bitcoin can be profitable. But, it depends on your investment capital. Also, it's very possible to get more profit from altcoins rather than bitcoin.

Yes, actually it is possible to earn more money investing in alternative currencies instead of Bitcoin, but there is also more risk into it than simply investing in Bitcoin. In order to successfully invest in Alta coins ones needs to figure out which coin had actually more potential to pump in price and discard those coins which are likely scams or doomed to underperform the expectations of it's developers and the public in general. It is difficult to invest in them, because it is like filtering actual germs from the mud in a sea of scams and shitcoins. Those who invest in Bitcoin instead of new/low capitalization alternative currencies, it is because they are not willing to take that risk or do not have the time to perform due diligence on new coins.

That being said, do not let your greed to take over your common sense and throw your money on slternstive currencies if you don't know what you are doing. Never fully trust the promises of the developer team.

Just because Bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrencies doesn't mean that there aren't any other available options. Bitcoin's value is currently high, too high for someone with a smaller budget; buying smaller fractions of Bitcoin is rarely going to cut it. $100 worth of Bitcoin has less potential than $100 in some random altcoin that may pump and dump, resulting in major short-term yields, which is what some people are after. Absolutely, newcomers in crypto space often dream of getting rich overnight, that's why they invest in high risk crypto projects, such as meme coins and other less famous alts. It is possible that some forks have made substantial gains in the shortest time but they are very few and most of adventurers lose their life time saving when they invest in volatile cryptocurrencies.

The key of success is to invest in Bitcoin and in those alts which have good track record of performance and backed by professional teams.
