Many people are very selfish with their own relatives, they think that if their relatives know their income, they will be taken advantage of .
I have seen many such cases and their life goes like this: if these people's life goes well, they will almost forget everyone around them and they claim not to need anyone in this world. If you don't trust your family members to that level no let them know your source of income, because there are some family members that will be looking for your down fall in your business, which they will use that influence of knowing your sources of income to bring you back to zero level in the family. But not all family members has this kind of evil heart, because there are some family members that will know your source of income and they will add value to your source of income because they are very happy about your progress and they can stand for you in any angle to make sure you remain on top in your source of income.

When I said not letting family into your private financial affairs, I did not mean that you won't let anyone know at all, but then there are some extended family that may want to puck noise into your financial life which I see as a flight risk because you may be digging your own grave without even knowing, I still remember when I visited my local village sometimes ago and my father and his younger brother who is my uncle, asked me what I do for a living, and I turn a red eye to my father for bringing such topic up when his brother was around.

The reason I did that was to send a warning to them that I am man enough to put up with whatever I do, be it evil or good, and I told them that if I am doing anything illegal, I should have been in police custody by now, and I also went ahead to ask my father that ever since you gave birth to me, have I been a bad guy before he said No and I told him he should leave me alone in fact I threaten to stop giving him money if he ever ask me such a question again.

You are the one that will make them suspect you because buying gold will not clear the Meir curiosity but make them suspect you more. Because some valuable goods or items can put you at risk and change the perception that people will view your habits.
