The playoffs could be disastrous too you know, this is when most teams get very serious, this period is which determines how their season will end. Most teams now become very defensive minded especially when an underdog scores first.

It's true but I can't even imagine for such another matchday, playoff or not. Plus all the teams need goals for having even 1 chance for getting the trophy from Olympiakos hands. Because the favorite is the Olympiakos team.

Let hope we gamblers get to benefit from this coming international break and recover from what we have lost so far in the hands of Greek league this season.

I can't say that I'm on the losing side from my Super League betting of the season but yes, it would be great to recover from day 1! Grin

As far as I know from the latest news, playoffs (and playouts) will start on 29 March with the games Olympiakos vs Panathinaikos and AEK vs PAOK. For the playouts, we will have Panserraikos vs Lamia, Panetolikos vs Levadiakos, and Kallithea vs Volos. The other group, which is the places from 5 to 8, will have OFI vs Atromitos and Asteras vs Aris. To be honest, this Super League format is a bit ridiculous...
Thanks for the update, I'm still away and haven't had the chance to check myself. The first two games you mentioned are going to be interesting and tough calls to make. To be honest, I'm not sure if I'll participate, or I might change strategy and switch to an over or under bet, depending on the odds. Predicting who's going to win in such derbies is almost impossible. If I were to guess, I'd only do it in AEK vs. PAOK where I'd be supporting PAOK.

We'll see in a couple of days, it's nice to have a little break from gambling and sports betting every once in a while.

Yesterday was a rough day for Greek football because every Greek team remaining in international competitions got eliminated.

Olympiakos got disqualified from Bodo Glint, Panathinaikos got disqualified from conference league from Fiorentina... And so were cyoriot teams Pafos, Apoel, Omonoia earlier too.

It's a miracle Greek and European trans would reach that far in European competition anyway. Olympiakos got quite far in the Europa league having just won the conference league last year. It would be nice to see this trend continue to be honest because European competition is always interesting when you see differen styles clash. Conference league is good at giving smaller countries a chance because Europa league and especially champions league were all UK/spain 99% of the time.

Now we look forward to the play off phase of the Greek Super league that will open with the derby of eternal rivals Panathinaikos and Olympiakos.

Bodo/glimt eliminated Olympiacos yesterday, for Olympiacos to qualify they needed to win the match leading with 2 goals and more but the match ended 2-1. Honestly Olympiacos started the match very poorly especially in the that first half, they had much of the ball and they couldn’t convert the chances they created. In that first half Bodo/glimt had just one chance and they excellently made use of it. When this fixture was scheduled a lot of people had night hope for Olympiacos to qualify. What actually affected them was that 2 goal deficit after the first leg.

With Olympiacos knocked out of the Europa league they will now have full concentration on the league as they already looks favorite in winning the championship.

In some league out there there are also teams that were eliminated from one of the European competitions that were followed and were considered to be able to focus on the domestic league, whereas if you look at the team performance in the domestic league and in European competitions such as the Europa League, it is actually very different.
Moreover, Olympiacos is the only team that is the most difficult to beat, of all the team that have met Olympiacos so far, only two can bring winning because the others must have an Olympiacos winning or draw, they are always the favorites of every match they play.

Very difficult game for Panathinaikos and not so for Olympiakos. If Panathinaikos loses it, then the case of "Super League Champion" goes out the window for them. While Olympiakos have a safety net point difference. Not saying that it will be an easy game but Olympiakos have the upper hand on this one.

Hi guys why sofascore didnt update their pages with the new rounds of playoff.?

Yes Panatinaikos arrives with a punch after being eliminated, but for me the worst punch from the european football was received by the Olimpiacos, because they lose the eliminatory against a good team but more weak than them like Bodo. Panatinaikos lose against Fiorentina which it was probable.

Maybe they're waiting for the official announcement or the odd provider don't gave them the odds. Grin

Agreed. Panathinaikos's task was much more difficult than Olympiakos and for sure, Olympiakos are more frustrated that they lost their next phase ticket from Bodo. But that's soccer, right? Now Bodo has become the 1st Norwegian team that manages to enter the next phase of the Europa League, who will think that at the start of the competition?

I have lost touch with Greek football and sports betting in general due to being away for the week. It's a shame that Olympiakos got eliminated, it was a tough day for the Greek football community. It's a little disappointing to see that Panathinaikos was also eliminated, but on the positive side, just like you mentioned, it's a miracle that a Greek team managed to get that far in the Europa League. Anyway, even though it's a shame, we can't change it now; it's best to focus on the playoffs in less than 15 days from now. Hopefully, we'll see some decent matches, and who's going to win the Greek Super League.

Well, a week remains to start again the action in the Super League. So far, nothing has happened in any of the contestants, in terms of players' injuries and every team is quiet. To be honest, this situation is a bit boring but as you said, hopefully, the matches will reward us with some good action (and profits).

Thanks for the brief update. Yes, waiting for the playoffs is a little boring, even though I wanted a short break, it's still a long time and I'll agree with you. In the meantime, I've started checking out UEFA Nations League, as I couldn't wait so many days without any action. I'm planning to place a few bets in the upcoming matches tomorrow. Hopefully, 29th of March is just a week away from now, so we'll need to be a little patient till then. I hope we won't be as disappointed as the last matchday.

I'm a bit tired of the Greek super league trying different formats every year. This year's format is super weird, I just read up on it.

The previous playoff format that was ongoing for around 10 years is changed, now only the top 4 teams will be in playoffs together to contest the championsip.

Then there's a second playoff group between teams 5 to 8 in the rankings. The team ranking 5th gets a spot in the conference league.

Then also the last teams in the rankings enter a play out group to see which teams stay in the Super League and which ones get relegated.

Of course this format offers more interesting matches to watch but also mostly benefits the already huge teams. It becomes very hard for a team that just entered the super league to even stay there unless its owner wants to pump huge amounts of money in it. Alternatively they could cooperate with some of the bigger teams to let them win and put some money in their pocket. This is a well known rumor in Greece.

At least from a betting perspective it's more exciting but I like the previous playoff format with 5 teams because sometimes matches with the 5th team in the rankings had interesting odds to bet on the large team although it was very unlikely for the 5th team to win.

To be honest, their system is pure idiotic. No reason to have playoffs at all. It doesn't give anything to anyone, neither to teams (as players and staff) nor to the fans. More games for nothing, since nothing changes in their points when they enter the playoffs. Plus, as you said, none of the medium-low teams have any chance to get something out of it. The only ones who earn are the owners of the big teams from the ticket sales and the TV rights and that's the reason that they make it.
Instead of that, they should do something about their refs' system and evaluation. It's a bit ridiculous to pay to have other leagues' referees in your league... Roll Eyes

I agree, it doesn't provide smaller teams with the opportunity to conquer a better position in the Super League. I'm also not fond of this system, I was unaware of the change till alani123 pointed it out, it only benefits the known larger teams, Panathinaikos, Olympiakos, AEK and PAOK.

Anyway, the surprising news of the day is that Greece is winning against Scotland, with three goals so far, in their home. Greece's team is showing a great performance in the Nations League.

Well, actually the surprise was in their first match that Scotland won with this "penalty". At the moment, the Greek national team has some of the biggest talents/ wonderkids of Europe on their roster, and for those involved in soccer more closely this win wasn't a surprise. Maybe the scoreline seems/ looks big but it's not. Big congrats to their coach who "dared" present a first-eleven team with an average age of 22.7 years(!) and he was fully justified.

That's true, I didn't see the first match against Scotland, I didn't even know we're playing that day, and if I'm honest, I didn't check how they scored the goal nor did I proceed to watch the match afterwards. Greece's National team is consisted of some new talents as little as 20 years old, congratulations to the coach indeed for taking the "risk", yesterday's match is evidence that these new talents with their teamwork and strategy can do wonders, I'm really proud of them winning against Scotland, not only because they won, but because their performance was absolutely terrific.

Okay, a little update since tomorrow is the start of the Greek Super League playoffs. I'm posting the upcoming scheadule, along with the odds for each match and I'm looking forward to hear about your predictions! Personally, for tomorrows matches, OFI vs. Atromitos, I'm going to support OFI, as it's the local team and I honestly believe they're in a better standing than Atromitos, on Asteras Tripolis vs. Aris I'm a little hesitant, but I'm leaning towards Aris, as for Kallithea vs. Volos, I'd say Kallithea.

As for the last match of Panetolikos vs. Levadiakos, I have no clue, both teams are in a similar position (in standings) so I believe they're equal chances for both of them.

Final, back in action, people! Grin
So for your home team's match, I will also support them to take the win. If they want to be above the other teams, they need to win on their ground no matter what. About the Asteras vs Aris, I will go with the goals (both teams score and more than 2+ goals). For the Panetolikos match, I will support the home team, they are better than Levadiakos, without a doubt. As for Kalithea vs Volos, I probably won't bet on it, but if I decide to bet on something, I will probably go with the goals.
By the way, your sportsbook has better odds than mine... Tongue👍

Wait a minute wait a minute, i always think some leagues have a pure bullshit system like the one we have here in the greek league were the "championship round" was a oure show because you enter with the same points you have in the regular season, so if the leader have a gap of 10 points you need to cut that 10 points in a few games..... non sense. It was only a little bit funny when the distances were lower.

But now what we have? A H2H games like semifinals and finals between the top 4 teams? I see it only in sofascore for example.

I'm not too experienced regarding football, so I haven't seen different systems, nor have I bothered to check for more information, but I fully understand your point. It doesn't make much sense. As for today's matches, Atromitos won against OFI, so I lost this bet, while Kallithea vs. Volos ended in a tie, so I also lost this one. I am now waiting on Aris vs. Asteras, in which I've placed a bet on Aris, who is winning with one goal so far, and on Panetolikos vs. Levadiakos, the score is still on zero, and I've placed a bet on Panetolikos, but we still have quite a long time till the match ends.
