You don't get it, at all.
Why do you say so? Care to explain at make me understand. Not that I didn't get it but you totally misunderstood what I meant. Let me rephrase it this way, what if bitcoin that kind amount is being hold until to this day then it's value to this day would be millions. It's like saying what if you have that amount of btc then it would be millions. I already explained in my post  that I agree with you that it's meaningless to recalculate because it is the value of btc then and compare to now the value of btc is different. Do you get what I meant?.

My fellow cryptocurrency friend, I mean that Bitcoin wouldn't be what it is today if not people who used it in the early days - the usage as medium of exchange gave it popularity through infamous DNM's and drug dealings and before that with people like Laszlo who used it to buy those pizzas.

If he didn't bought those pizzas and people on DNM wouldn't buy weed and other substances with it because of future price, Bitcoin wouldn't be worth what is worth today, it would stay a geeky gimmick only known on this forum.

You just can't eat the cake and have the cake at the same time.

We both probably wouldn't know about this forum or Bitcoin existence in the first place.

It's true that because of bitcoin being used to buy something that isn't digital like buying pizza with bitcoin or weed for bitcoin but it wasn't my point about bitcoin being used to buy something like pizza because my point is about people recalculating 10000 to today's price which as I explained in my previous post that I definitely agree with you that it is meaningless.

Let me highlight what I meant in your post:

This is true and it would have been that amount of money if that's for today's value of bitcoin but that time, it is what the price of bitcoin then that's why he spent $41 for the pizzas he bought. So I would also day the same that it is meaningless to do but think of it that if that amount of btc is that he hold it then it would be millions of money for 10000 btc that he mined. Let's say it's in the past and what a legend so that's makes one of bitcoin's history.

If he HOLD it back then, then it would be still worth $41 bucks today  Wink

The whole history would be different if not people like him who actually used it.

He is a legend not for paying billions of dollars for pizza, he is a legend for being first mover.

But seeing all this "billion dollar" pizza posts, I don't think many people appreciate what a real legend he was.
They just see a person who made a bad decision.

I am aware that he became a legend not because he paid billions of dollars for pizza but because of buying pizza for 10000 bitcoin which amounts to billions of dollars base on today's price not because of being the first mover as you have stated instead I would say that he is the first to make a real-word ransaction whe buys pizza using bitcoin which haven't done before.

He may have stepped out of the limelight, but his legacy continues to impact the community in profound ways. His decision to mine and spend Bitcoin when it was worth next to nothing was a gamble that paved the way for today’s crypto economy. Whether or not he fully left Bitcoin, it's clear that his contribution was about more than just personal gain, it was about pushing the boundaries of what was possible with this new technology. He might not be a loud voice in the community anymore, but his actions spoke louder than any words could. He might just be quietly enjoying the ride while we all continue to celebrate his early contributions.

So you took a post from someone who screenshots threads here and posts them on Twitter and reposted it here?
Yes, I read that thread on X and shared it for forum members. The thread on X is not mine, I clearly said it in OP.

A thread about Laszlo Hanyecz on X which is interesting and I believe it's worth to share here.

This content is from the thread.

Sure he spent alot of bitcoins for those pizza's. But keep in mind it was the first transaction which proved bitcoin can be used for goods and services and it caught on perhaps because of this purchase. Who knows if bitcoin would be the same if it never had this transaction, hard to tell.

He sure is a bitcoin legend. Never knew he ported the bitcoin software to a macOS, pretty crazy in the short time frame.
He is like one piece of history and without him, we will have another person to make similar trade but because he is a first person to do it, he made a milestone for Bitcoin adoption. He deserves to be recognized as a Bitcoin legend, no doubt.

His decision to mine and spend Bitcoin when it was worth next to nothing was a gamble that paved the way for today’s crypto economy.
Risk is not too big because he did not spend too much money for doing this. His biggest contribution is programming some helpful things for early Bitcoin development and the Bitcoin - Pizzas trade. I disagree to say the trade is risky for him, it's good for him. As he afford to get nothing by mining bitcoin in early days and the trade proved that he is doing a right thing.

Risk is on the buyer, who was uncertain that he will be able to sell these bitcoins to someone else or not.

How much will you pay for being a Legend in the Bitcoin history. His actions actually showed people that Bitcoin was "worth" something and you can actually buy something with it, which was not how a lot of people saw it back then.

Bitcoin was seen as some "Monopoly" money and something without real value, but this transaction opened their eyes to the monetary value and that it can be used to buy "things"

Laszlo will always be a Bitcoin Legend!  Wink

We don't know if it's actually the same as today that it would be $41 if he didn't buy pizza using 10000 bitcoin.
When I joined Bitcoin, its price was less than 3000 and it was a fortune for those who bought Bitcoin at $100. At that time, you would have told Laszlo that if he sold 10,000 Bitcoin at $2000, he would have made a fortune. Today, the price of Bitcoin is more than $60,000 and it may be $600,000 in the future. In short, the definition of a good deal varies depending on the time period. Check out the forum posts and you will find many celebrating the price of $1000 or $10,000 and wishing they had sold at that price.

Thank you, what a great series I enjoyed reading this thread about the history of Bitcoin and Lazalo.

Many people think that Lazalo is just an ordinary person who spent 10,000 Bitcoins to buy a slice of pizza, which is considered the most expensive pizza in history, but they do not know that Lazalo was one of the first developers of Bitcoin and that he spent this amount of Bitcoin, which is considered a fortune today, to prove the idea he believed in by transforming Bitcoin from something virtual to something tangible on the ground.
No doubt that Laszlo Hanyecz, is a Bitcoin legend and what he did will always amaze every Bitcoin hodler now and in the future. At that time when he was buying those pizzer I wonder if he ever imagined that Bitcoin value will reach what it is today, he probably would've hodl every but if it. I also thought that he was one of the early buyers who had so much Bitcoin that he didn't know what to do with and he had to order pizza to offload some from his bag. I hope that he still has many Bitcoin today because it'll be heartbreaking if he doesn't and he's not super rich.

Woow nice thread, I thought Laszlo Hanyecz's story started with him mining Bitcoin and buying pizza, but it seems like he was a developer and contributed to the development of Bitcoin in the early days. It's good that he's still around and has no problem appearing in front of the cameras.

Pete Rizzo's Bitcoin History threads in X are very VERY good. This is another one about a more unknown Bitcoiner with BitcoinTalk username "knightmb" who accumulated 371,000 Bitcoins with an average entry price that's less than $0.01 per coin, https://x.com/pete_rizzo_/status/1829870524043800599

👀

Although the thread ended with knightmb being "destitute", where his 371,000 Bitcoins went is "a mystery". He probably is the smartest Bitcoiner if he has control of those coins. Cool

Good or bad decision must be connected with time and conditions of a person in that trade. Like if you are in an emergency, and don't have cash to pay for your urgent cost, don't feel bad if you sell your bitcoin. You are simply doing a right thing at the moment but this example reminds people that they must manage their personal capital well and never should use all money for Bitcoin investment, then have empty hands left.

Like in day the Bitcoin Pizza man sold his bitcoin, it was good deal as he is a smartest person who could make it happens from nothing to 2 pizzas. If I take profit, I feel happy with it and that feeling must come with me in future. I know we can feel regret about out past decisions but it's not a right way to leave. Time flies, decisions made and there is no time traveling machine so we need to happy with good things we made in the past.

I am so happy that he is finally getting his full story heard. I keep hearing about "that idiot who spent 10k on bitcoin" and nobody really knows his fully story, that wasn't even like 10% of his stash, and he just kept on making more too and yet people only know him for that, it is not really that reasonable to expect to just put him in a box like that and talk about one thing. Sure that is the thing he went viral for and I understand that, but the reality is that he did so much more for the bitcoin community than just pizza. The fact that he is the one that turned bitcoin into macOS applicable thing is the biggest one he did if you ask me, and being that much of an bitcoin admirer at that early stage is even better.

We should all be considering this to be the most important part, and that is why I believe that we should consider that it is not going to be all that easy to figure out. We need to do something that will put his name forward more about everything else he did.

Laszlo Hanyecz actually did something and made great contributions with his dedication on Bitcoin development. He did not stop at being curious and put Bitcoin aside of his to-do list. He is like Satoshi Nakamoto, did not give up when facing with challenge.

Satoshi's lesson has good story to read too.

Nowadays, we can become a Bitcoin developer to make contribution or we can contribute in Bitcoin community in another way, as investor. Some people were exposed about Bitcoin, did some research either quick research or due diligent research, but very few people actually join this community as investors.
