Note this is a pretty ghetto setup as I was tired of waiting for the hydro kit for the S21 Pro to come out so I decided to try with air based on an old experiment I saw by someone else where they did similar to heat a bathtub using a S9. Lots of heat will be lost thanks to the ducting but hopefully at least 20% is going into the pool. Cost is $40 canadian for the ducting plus probably $10 I used in duct tape and 3d print filament. Sorry I can't figure out how to get pics to show up on the forum.

Currently pool is at 24 celsius so will see how things look later.

The ducting at the miner side is pretty bad, you should 3D print or buy a ready shroud, here an example i found from a random google search (i don't know if the website is legit but just want to show you how it looks like) https://nakamotomining.com/products/antminer-s21-pro-xp-wall-mount-shrouds-kit-8-intake-exhaust-shrouds?srsltid=AfmBOopRiCQyNPjNGnu8IqEFBtvIU4ZQIvgObPrMO8Aj3xTcSi143F8a

Using something like that you would ensure that

1-almost all the heat is going to entre the duct.
2-the heat coming from the PSU would also enter the duct.

In the future you might want to invest in insulated duct and not just this regular duct you use, the insulated duct would keep most of the heat, obviously, the more heat you trap the hotter your miner gets so it's going to take some trial and error to get to the perfect set up, and ya, distance is very important, it would best for both the pool and the miners if the distance was shorter.

At

You can cover the duct you have with insulation and stop it when it reaches the pool

I will link some insulated ducts.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Flow-Mobile-Home-12-in-x-25-ft-Insulated-Flexible-Duct-R4-2-Black-Jacket-MIF12X300/202191788

This is a 12 inch if you start at the furnace with uninsured duct and this 12 inch over the metal one it will lower noise and heat will not get wasted.

This would not go into the pool as you do not want to wet the insulation.

Regarding moving to the hydro setup: You CANNNOT directly pump pool water through the miner! The chlorine and PH control chemicals will quickly corrode the aluminum cooling passages. You need a 2-stage system with a stainless steel water-to-water heat exchanger, 1 side gets the pool water, the other side gets DI water that runs through the miner.

I did see someone use a stainless steel hose.

https://www.temu.com/goods-detail-g-603166062044745.html?

he left it coiled in pool

and the part that did not go in the pool he cover with this.

https://www.mcmaster.com/7324T19-7324T195/

so miner>
 pump hot water>
fiberglass over some of stainless steel hose.>
most of stainless steel hose in pool >
no fiberglass >
cooler water >
back to miner.

100 feet of stainless steel hose
means 25 feet to pool  needs fiberglass cover.
8 feet to bottom
34 foot coil
8 feet out the pool
25 feet to miner does not need fiberglass cover

this is under 200 bucks.

you still need pump etc for the miner.

re: ^^
Always amazed that folks will risk their several k$ miners with setups like that...
At a minimum there needs to be temperature control somewhere so the miners run at a reasonably fixed temp, most prefer to run at around 40-50C. Running them with uncontrolled wide temp swings will make them unstable and worse, will stress the already flaky solder connections in the miners.

Fun fact: Braided or wrapped metal hoses have a Teflon or other plastic or silicon rubber liner in them which makes for poor thermal transfer. You may as well use a regular rubber or plastic thin-walled hose and save some money.
