If you advise others they can earn from signature campaigns and they try to enrol but are overlooked (or not successful) then maybe it would cause issues between you and the other party. Partly for that reason, I cannot recall the last time I mentioned the forum to anybody in real life but the way you described it seems to sound like a case of "damned if you do, damned if you do not"

To be honest, very rarely I share about this forum with my friends. Sadly, everyone just looks to earn money, most of them aren't able to struggle to learn. Sometimes I share who has good English skills, but they ask, Can we earn from here? So I said no, you can't. Because if I say you can earn and encourage them to join, then they will blame me later and would ask, Why can't we earn? The community is friendly enough for learning purposes but not for earning. This has to understand who wants to join.

Hi, I am an occasional user of your forum, and am curious how people will react to the question: Do You Consider This To Be A Friendly Community? It wouldn't take long to find examples of both the good and bad, so let's keep it simple.

Yes, definitely the community will reciprocate what you're given to them. If you are harsh to the community, they too will be harsh to you, and if you are using Bitcointalk the way it is intended to be and you follow the forum's guidelines you will have a pleasant experience.

Quote
Questions: In general, do you think Bitcointalk.org is a friendly place, and/or would you be really comfortable telling close friends (offline, in the real world) that they should come here and sign up?
I referred some people here and if there are topics about Cryptocurrency that I need to discuss from friends and people I make discussions on this forum as my reference, I don't think my weekdays will be complete without me interacting to the community.

Ro answer your question, I would need to draw your attention to your intentions, if your intentions align to the values of the forum, then definitely you shouldn't find this forum not to be a friendly enough environment but otherwise, it's definitely not going to be, have you read the rules and guidelines of the forum on the "Beginners and help" board, if you have and are sure you can abide under these rules, then I don't think you should fi d issue having a friendly environment in the forum.

Like someone sis mentioned on this thread, for knowledge sake, I think you a re in one of the best environments to get Bitcoin knowledge at almost all levels then if for frivolities and nonchalancy, you may not find here really friendly as there are rules just like every working system would have, so get your intentions right and have you a very perfect and awesome environment for the best experience.

A Newbie posted a question (to which he could easily have found the answer himself) on the tech board. He got the answer he wanted on Bitcointalk, then posted this:
I am glad to find this forum. I asked this on reddit/bitcoin and apparently said something wrong and was immediately banned from the group.  I find it hard to believe that they are so churlish.
It reminded me of this topic.

I think this is a distinctive characteristic of this community.
We are very much welcoming toward good, willing newbies, even when they ask the usual questions that have been answered many times.
Also, we are pretty much respectful of the diversity of ideas which might arise on a such diverse community, without imposing a "cult" of the right answers (very much common in TG channels)
What we are not forgiving is the reiteration of the same error.
But I guess this is another plan of discussion.

Hehehe...first, the community here means the entire members who form the forum and not the forum's rules or admin, so I see less of the practicality of what you wrote as far as this community is concerned.

You don't have to be harsh for some people to be harsh to you and you do not have to be nice for some people to be harsh to you. What matters is to do your thing, obey the forum rules and not care about what anybody says, ugly behaviour is everywhere, it's merely a noise, otherwise, you might hurt yourself. There are enough of them who would make sure of that.

Some people can be condescending when you get a fact wrong or when you support an idea that they do not agree with but this is a rare exception. The vast majority of your interactions will be positive or neutral. You may get into arguments occasionally but there is so many other topics being discussed that you will get over it quickly. Because Bitcoin is a niche interest, you will find that you have a lot in common with most members. In general, it is easy to get along with everybody else.

When I earlier said, it helps to grow a thicker skin, I meant to say, don't get too easily upset if someone rants at you here. This someone might have a point, you might have made a mistake or that someone just had a bad day, whatever. It also could just be a jerk or troll...

My personal experience here is mostly good, I can't complain. If someone rants at me, I don't ignore and brush it off. I try to analyse what's going on and if I made something wrong. If it's my fault, I try hard to learn and improve. If it's not my fault or I can't see any fault of mine, I try not to be impulsive and take the bait. Because: don't feed the trolls, period!

I don't mean to shut up. If someone is a jerk, I'll tell them or maybe pass, depends on my mood. But if they continue to upset me, I'll simply put them on my ignore list and move on. I don't give those my time and further engagement. I'm too old for this.

My personal strategy comes from years of experience. I've been on BBS when computers connected via acustic modems over telephone lines. Later some mailing lists and other forums. I had my share with all sorts of people on a variety of platforms and I don't give a shit about today's (a)social media.

Whatever, I enjoy this forum and try hard to give my share to hopefully add value and paricipate in a constructive manner. Don't be a jerk, don't be a troll, don't be lazy and expect to be spoon-fed. Simple.

Questions: In general, do you think Bitcointalk.org is a friendly place, and/or would you be really comfortable telling close friends (offline, in the real world) that they should come here and sign up?
Your friend is interested in Bitcoin or things related to digital currency/Crypto, yes, this is a place for your friends to discuss that, it will be easy for them to understand and understand more deeply about all of that, Bitcointalk accepts all groups regardless of race, religion, country, ethnicity and so on, the Bitcointalk forum is the friendliest place in the world with an internet network.

Those who come here can not only discuss and learn about Bitcoin in writing, they can learn face to face via WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other connected social media because they basically meet in this forum, So there are lots of things your friends can learn here, don't hesitate to invite your friends to register here, give them an understanding of how the forum should run with the existing rules, what can be done and what can't be done.

Hi, I am an occasional user of your forum, and am curious how people will react to the question: Do You Consider This To Be A Friendly Community? It wouldn't take long to find examples of both the good and bad, so let's keep it simple.

Questions: In general, do you think Bitcointalk.org is a friendly place, and/or would you be really comfortable telling close friends (offline, in the real world) that they should come here and sign up?

Considering the idea about tell friends about this forum, you must first know if they are interested in crypto currency. U Les you obviously tell them about making money from the site through the signature campaign. And to me you must have like a prove to do that so they might play in. To do you you also must have to be a good contributor of this forum. You will serve as an example to them here on the forum. To answer your question, I consider this forum as a friendly community. Its only not friendly to those who might have been here on hearing that you can earn just by promotion. But failed to ask what process they must go through in other to gain such advantages.

I think if we argue too if what we say has clear and logical arguments people will be friendly to us, as in the language of “smart people will be better at appreciating perceptions”, but indeed this depends on how we feel offended or not, because in the language of discussion it is sometimes complicated if using scientific vocabulary or parables, how we respond is also an important one from reading people's comments or arguments against the opinions we convey.
Similarities and differences are a beautiful color in the context of a discussion, and both give us a much broader understanding.

So far I've always found people on this forum to be friendly.

Enough time has passed since the OP created this topic and he has not appeared on the forum anymore, but we are still trying to convince him of our friendliness and disposition. However, the question from a person whose registration reached seven years ago is quite strange. It is also possible to supplement all the above that society wants and will be friendly to those who also want to meet society halfway and not create a topic and abandon it without completing their conclusion on the created topic.

I'm not sure what to do though. If it were me I would probably avoid telling others of this forum. Not only that, I would try to keep it a secret that, I'm a crypto user. I'm not saying bitcointalk is an unfriendly place, it is not. But the main issue is that, crypto is still banned at our country. I can't just tell around people hey i have been involved in crypto and crypto community. I have absolutely no idea, how would people react, if i suggested them this forum. At this moment, I have only told my family members about it. Maybe I might consider telling my close friends, but not more then that. I may not have issue with the people I know but there is a possibility of issue coming from the authority side. At the end of the day, I believe btt to be a friendly forum/community.

I think that the forum is "friendly" to the extent that it is normal for it to be, because it is still a forum where everyone has equal opportunities at the beginning and the same rules apply to everyone. We were all beginners and we all went through the same thing, therefore no one can (and will) discriminate against you on any basis, and everything ultimately depends on each individual.

As for recommendations to others regarding this forum, I've given them a lot over the years, mostly online to people I've been in contact with outside of this forum. I don't know how many of them actually came here and became members, but if each of us brought at least one member who remained active, we did a good thing.

I do believe what you just said. Everyone started as a newbie, and eventually ranked up. We all had to (still) go through the same process. There were no shortcuts, no discrimination, a fair system where everyone is equal. And that is why I think (personally), we are able to understand what new users or those who are lower in rank are going through.

It's a lifelong journey..... Wink

If you have the patience to tolerate positive criticism then I think you will find the bitcointalk forum to be the friendliest community in all the crypto ethustian forums. In the beginning when I was newbie about the cryptocurrency and the forum also the members of this community give me the source in the topic and also my local mates of this community helped me a lot in my personal chat, I think the suggestions and advice they gave me I could not have bought with money. So this forum is definitely a friendly forum.

And the rest you have already got answered by the Charles-Tim, so if you are a crypto enthusiast person this forum is definitely friendly for you.

Technically, that's not true at all - because those who were here before the merit system (2+ years ago) had the possibility to reach Legendary rank literally if they only regularly published posts in the Off topic board - which of course completely changed after 2018. Over the years, there have been a lot of new members who consider today's system too difficult for ranking, and that is, in a way, correct in most cases. In that case, the forum is definitely not as "friendly" as before.

It's a lifelong journey..... Wink

Maybe for some, but there are few who have been here for more than 10 years, and I think it is not realistic to expect that many of us will be here 10 years in the future. But I'm sure that some of us will still be exceptions Smiley

I was talking about my own experience. Those who joined the forum, after the merit system was implemented (after 2018), I belong to that group. So I can't really say for those who have been here for 10 years or so. Of course, everyone has different perception of those things.

Today's merit system is kinda difficult, tbh. One has to be determined to be able to rank up. If he can't keep up, he won't.

I don’t know anywhere else I would rather refer anyone to come learn both the pros and cons of Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies better than the forum.

The forum remains a balance between which ever twist you could think of, be it good or bad. It’s a people reaction to how and what you’re presenting. Besides, you’re not known formally by anyone and as such, no one holds nothing against you until otherwise. Hence, you stand to build how you’re perceived by the rest of the forum users and how that works out entirely depends on you.

In all, the business of the day is learning and unlearning so, if your archiving that by being a forum user, your good.
