Inasmuch there's an increasing rate of gambling centers and gamblers all over Nigeria, we can't fully say that most Nigeria citizens survive mainly on gambling bets rather than having little or more jobs to survive on their own than being solely dependent on gambling that has more losses that its gambling wins.

The opposite is the case, my brother, poverty in Nigeria has pushed so many people to gamble thinking it is an alternative to their predicament in the country, suffering is everywhere. But the truth is that the result has never been good. As a well-informed person who knows what is going on on and off the street, gambling has never been positive for those guys.

As usual in all countries and societies, no matter how good you are at gambling, some will lose and some will gain, but those who are complaining bitterly due to their gambling losses are more than those who are gaining. And those who are gaining are also gaining peanuts from it except a few that would just hit it randomly big, so how is that helping their situation to have warranted the belief that gambling is helping the country's citizens to alleviate the harsh economy?

The best bet is for those who are still living in a harsh economic condition to increase their income streams through more honourable works that will almost guarantee earning, not from gambling which might make them poorer if care is not taken.

But the narrative is changing gradually as betting has taken a center stage in the country, infact there is no family in the country that you go to that someone don't bet, there's hardly no street that you passes by in the country that you don't see a betting shop open for business and these betting shops runs from morning till night to tell you how busy these shops are it's the workers in the shops that will beg the customers to go home as they wants to close and rest from the days activities around 8_9pm in the evening

One thing that is of concern to me is the kind of person's that you will find inside the betting shop as you will find different class of people ranging from small to big , old and young and of recent even woman has started gambling

This got me thinking and I came came to the conclusion that betting or gambling is now a way out of the harsh economic situation that we find our self in the country

To tell you how serious gambling has become in the country there are people who literally survives on gambling as they have taken it as their job to be betting, so the next time you see someone betting and playing virtual game inside the betting shop just know they are not useless but looking for a way to survive

It all comes down to willpower and the choices that we make every day. Nobody is forcing people into these gambling shops and if they are as prevalent as you suggest, then it should be clear to the wider society that the only people making money from gambling are the casinos. That should be enough to keep people away from them. If you can tell that it is possible to get an edge against the house or other players, then with enough practice and intelligence it is theoretically possible to use gambling to build a career - however only a tiny minority will ever be truly successful at it, the rest are just leaking their hard earned money away.

Regardless of the Nigerian economic situation, gambling should not be considered as a means or a source of income. It's an entertainment event though we know about the profits that one can make from it if he's well strategize and has luck on his side. I totally agree with you, Nigeria isn't the only country in this category. Statistically is has been shown several times that more gamblers are in the united states of America more than any other country in the world, majority of these gamblers are not playing for fun but there are actively involved in gambling as a way out of their financial situation which is a very delusional thing to do.

The United States has the 3rd largest population in the world, gambling is banned in China so obviously there won't be any statistics on it and so is it in India, while the fourth and fifth largest countries are majority Muslim.
When you look at the per capita statistics things change radically and when it comes to online gambling Brazil, Mexico, and Nigeria have more people gambling than the United States, making things even worse since their per capita wages are a quarter at best of what the disposable income of Americans is.

And yeah, a lot of people in the US go to Las Vegas to gamble for fun, probably less than 1% of them do it to "win" as they could do that in any casino in half of the states, no point flying there to make money, same for Macau or Singapore, now how many do so in others countries?

Even though I agree that people shouldn't do things such as gambling to have a better financial situation, I don't think that a person always does crazy things out of desperation but there are mostly compulsions that make a person do things that they shouldn't do under any circumstances. I have seen people killing their families and then committing suicide because they couldn't get a job to feed their families or provide a good life for them because of economic hardships. Can anyone imagine doing something like that? No, so we can understand from this that sometimes you make decisions that you wouldn't make in normal life situations.

I don’t really know the reason why people tag gambling as a bad activity. Or is it because of the behaviors of addicted gamblers, that’s why people just generalize it that gambling is a bad activity? Seriously, I have been gambling for some time now, and I don’t see anything bad in gambling. The only time that I will say gambling is bad is when someone is addicted to gambling, because we can see the crazy things that addicted gamblers are doing.
 
Gambling shops are now so rampant now, most people are beginning to take gambling as their source of income, some people do visit gambling shop and stay there from morning till evening, and they do that almost everyday which doesn’t make sense, that’s why addiction rate is really increasing, and owners of those gambling shops are doing their business, and they don’t care if anyone is addicted to gambling or not.

Gambling is not for a specific set of people, as long as you are above 18 years old in my country, then you are allowed to gamble, irrespective of your gender or whether you are old or young. That’s why when you visit gambling shops, you see different sets of people there.

How often are big winners advertised in Nigeria, on social media and on Television?
Is it common to see people who have won important amounts of money to appear on TV on in the social media accounts of gambling companies operating in Nigeria or even in social media accounts of betting houses?

Here in my country it is not common to see people who had won the lottery on Television anymore and betting houses do not advertise those winners.
I would like to know how it is in the case of Nigeria since Gambling seems to be a very important cultural way of life among the common people there.

It's just that people still consider wishful thinking and hope that with luck and skill in gambling, one bad economic situation will change for a lifetime. If you check the ratio of the percentage of those that gambling have made to come out of poverty' or financial conditions you will notice that there is low numbers of gambler's who have really achieve something good compared to those that have been put into real poverty because of gambling involvement.

I agree with you, indeed that in this case there is no one forcing other than yourself including the casino itself which in my opinion they do not force players to play excessively, besides that another thing that must be known is that in this case the casino is the host who will always win so that no other party can have a greater advantage than the casino itself. However, the casino will always excel and they will always win, it feels sad if gambling is used as a solution to the difficulties of a situation, because in my opinion the benefits of gambling are unpredictable and uncertain.

Just like on what you had said that you arent that forced, you do play according into your own will. This wont really be just that limited to Nigerians but also in other countries as well and into its citizens on which

That been said, I don't think there will be anyone who will say that gambling is now his means of income, since gambling result is unpredictable and this can only lead the more financial crisis, so the solution to economic problems is not gambling, infact gambling can not help in any way to reduce economic hardship in any country and also not only in Nigeria but the rest part of the world, no one can take gambling as a business thing the point of catering for yourself and others using gambling as means of passive income.

Yes, the point is that it is a wrong choice or idea, no matter how for example in the initial steps you managed to achieve a number of wins or even a fairly large win but in the end it will still be very easy for the casino to turn things around.
On the other hand, this is the reason why it is always recommended to respond to everything we just find with a rational perspective and a healthy mindset, none other than to minimize misunderstandings and avoid you from various bad disasters.
