I don't think it is completely about someone having a criminal mindset, but rather it is a matter of ambition and seeking to lead others and reach a higher status. See, in the world there are people who become criminals and they do not have a political career whatsoever, neither are trying to get one.

The situation you described above is what I have witnessed several times in my country's politics. That is the reason I have given up in my country's politics and politicians that any good thing cannot come from them.

I have seen moderately honest people in the society who turned criminals, liars and looters immediately they join politics and become leaders. I think they all belong to a certain occult where they swear not to be honest and kind today people they rule. This is the reason I have given up on politics in my country.

Simply because human nature is greedy and politicians are human too, they are not robots. We don't trust politicians and find them disgusting because they are using and spending our money. If this is accepted in the context of my country Bangladesh, then I will say it is definitely right.  All the political leaders in our country are corrupt. Political leaders in my country basically harbor criminals and organize various criminal activities through them.  Basically criminals in our country grow up under political umbrella and under the umbrella of law they get involved in any kind of criminal activities.

There are very few politicians who have the intention to serve the people. Those with good motives are frustrated by the corrupt system. Politics is no longer service-oriented but focused on looting from the government treasury. In my country, elections are won not by political manifestos but by how much you can afford to buy votes and bribe the electoral commission. This has allowed criminals to buy political positions.

Religious and cultural leaders are not helping matters because they support these criminals for selfish reasons.

I have lost confidence in our political system, so I don't give a damn about the process. All I want is to keep seeking better economic chances which could help me live a financially free life. Discussing or complaining about politicians is a waste of time.

This is a sad truth, most of the successful politicians aren't successful because of their political careers but because of the money that they've embezzled from their people. While there are still trustworthy and reputable politicians that are there to actually serve their people, there are more of those that are unwilling and are only running for public post for their personal interest. I think in most of the world events and news about politics, this has become a norm to most discussions. Even if we don't want to admit that it is, this is the sad truth that most of the countries that deals with it.

I've watched a video in Japan that former yakuza bosses and members are running for public posts and they're not hiding their ugly past. The past that they've been involved with several illegalities for them to survive but they're proving their worth to be changed people and are for the heart of serving people. I don't know the whole intent there because it's from there and it's a glorified country when its come to their people. But as much as I want to assure is that most of the countries do have these types of politicians that are there to serve their pockets and not people.

these are the ills of the society we live in today, that's why a lot of persons have been calling for strong institutions so we can help fight this crime and criminals in our society especially in high places, because once we begin to treat them with kid gloves, they become emboldened and a menace to the society, that's why sometimes i like the Chinese system of governance, though it is driven by communism but they have stringent rules they follow, in fact if your in a public office and your involved in official corruption, the penalty is a capital punishment. in doing so, you will see crime and criminality reduce drastically.

It will be very hard to see a particular politician who is corrupt free, and the most annoying part is that if you actually find someone who is not that corrupt in politics, the moment he or she gets In touch with power they automatically become corrupt minded, could this be that there's an secret oath which they have to take when they've sworned into office?  In my country side, The very politician who has his people in mind, immediately they get into power they will changed.

Totally true. If you remain loyal to your principles and values, it's just a matter of time until the group cut you from the position you execute inside it. Groups (especially the ones which have power and influence) don't want anyone charging them and pointing out their contradictions. If they can't control you and have you as a blind serf, you aren't useful for them anymore.

It may not be entirely true that all political leaders has the mind to steal, though is very unfortunate that because of the countries most people come from and how there political leaders have been deceitful and unable to provide the things they had promised during there campaigns and I have also witnessed it myself in my country that those who have a good intention for the country is deprived of there right to lead because some other politicians will be feeling that the moment such person resume that office everything they normally benefited from will be cut off, that's why we keep having the political leaders whose there interest is to steal but I cannot say that they are the same because there is always some that wants a positive change to the people.

This does not work that way even when the word has proclaimed it that those that are in the government seat are mostly criminals and doing the work of their godfathers that brought them to that seat. The government is a parastatal that consist of both the good and the bad eggs and you tend to decide which side you want to be on in order to be something relevant to those that control you and not to those that voted you in. A lot of criminals activities are going on within the government but only few countries are able to tackle it to the bare minimum. So the most corrupt countries are still facing those challenges and will continue to be termed criminal government until a solution is found to it.

I see no other option aside than breaking the rules, "If you can't beat them then join them" if you don't then you fail and failing will automatically transfer power to any one who is willing to commit into corrupt agender.

In a sense, a leader with a good motive for the people will have to go extra mile just to advocate for his people and this means playing the player at his own trap. Politics is dirty, very difficult to see any candidate who doesn't play same games emerge as the winner, to go up there admitting to corrupt agender isn't to be condemned. Many leaders you see today were not criminals before they got to that level; it's the power that they have in their hands that turns them to be criminals. Many of them have the ambition to be good if they get there, but after reaching there and seeing how things are done to be at the higher level, it's the power that they have in their hands that turns them to be criminals. The politics of today is like a syndicate group staged for power and if anyone wants to get into the politics of the day to man any public office he/she has to become like them either by choice or force. In my country these politicians steal the common wealth with impunity and many of them are lot more powerful as individuals than the public institutions in the country like the courts, police etc. 

And it's no New York City thing alone it's in all part's of the world, a wildfire. A lot of people who criticizes the government and politicians about the corrupt practices are only doing so just to pave their way to the top and when they eventually gets to the top they get worse that those they previously criticized.
