Why do we watch science fiction? Because we want to believe! Mixing sci-fi tropes with a healthy dose of distrust of authority. From the cannibal Virgil Incanto to the Cher-loving sideshow freak The Great Mutato to the Arctic Worms to the deviant-sex-loving quasi-Amish murderers (to really just name a few). It may have had the best rogues' gallery in all television. You know what TV show I am talking about? If you know you are fine. If you don't go watch it now and feel it How are we meant to know what TV show you are talking about? lol Maybe it was hard to guess? This show is The X-Files. It is quite dated, but still one of the best TV sci-fi shows... If you haven't seen it yet you may miss some good action

I used to catch it occasionally on late night TV back in the day and it was always just 'watchable' really. Are the later seasons any better?

I find it hard to comment on The X- Files because it simply transcends words. It's an intelligent masterpiece, an epos of beautifully complicated scenarios, plots and characters. Eruditely taking on the grayest of areas, confronting those things under your bed and inside your closet thus bringing new meaning to the fears brought on by conventions and the imprudent obstinacy of social norms. The script, the actors and the direction make the most unbelievable seem believable and the unfathomable- unfathomably real. So thought provoking that if you really let yourself dwell in its essence, it can change the way you see the world, if only just by believing in the conviction that The Truth Is Out There.

You're missing out. What about semi black/dark comedies like The Sopranos or Six Feet Under? They're my two favourites.

Tonight's episode of Fargo was really good. I am really impressed with that show so far... The dreams is good with just enough dark comedy.

My recommendations:
Drama: Game of Thrones Comedy: The Big Bang Theory
both of these are quite good in their respective genres .

Game of Thrones is goooooood. It is the best season i have seen so far . Really? IMO it has started off kind of slow... it was cool when the King got killed that guy was so annoying. Just watching him made me cringe this season is supposed to be the best, since it follows the 3rd (best one) so far in the series. after this season, the story goes downhill i hear.. i only got up to book 3. Tonight's episode of Fargo was really good. I am really impressed with that show so far... The dreams is good with just enough dark comedy.
i will have to check it out.. didn't like the original movie much, but i recently told myself to re-watch again... since i didn't "get" what the big lebowski was about about, and eventually.. during a not so sober situation, i totally "got it" and it just blew my mind.

Honestly the movie came out so long ago, and I remember thinking it was pretty good, but not understanding all the rave reviews. But this show is good. At least 8 out of 10, and i am a tough scorer.

The Cohen Brothers films are always overrated. Haven't seen the TV series yet though.
