You have nothing to prove to her if you use your own money.

If you used shared funds (like groceries money) she has a point - then there needs to be consensus a priori - not in hindsight. And of course there needs to be due care when handling those funds.

Oddly enough people like that tend to be unsupportive in tough times, but want to enjoy the good times. To those I say:

I love my wife, this thread is depressing.

Dude, I love my beautiful wife too. We just want the best for ourselves and the future together.  
We have ALL money together and I was the one who convinced her about investing and buying BTC/LTC for $2500. She insist investing in real estate is a good long term investment. I agreed with her, but just want to invest in BTC/LTC for fun and she thought it was a waste of $2500. Whatever.
