Bitcoin or altcoins during bear market?

I have been in crypto since early 2022 and most of my time I have been investing in altcoins.

The only time I was buying Bitcoin was when it fell to bear market lows around $15k and I sold it all for more altcoins when it reached $30k.

When I first got into crypto, Bitcoin was $42k and I now realize had I just stuck with Bitcoin only during the whole bear market I would be a lot better off now at this current time as I now understand that Bitcoin pumps first in the bull run.

My current portfolio is +23% but had I been in Bitcoin it would probably be around +200%. There is however more room now for altcoins to grow for the rest of this bull run and I am still hoping to have a great bull run with my altcoins.

I got lucky with one of my altcoins that gave me a 30x return in the first quarter of 2024 but if i didn't have that then my portfolio would be a lot worse.

I am just wondering when the next bear market comes in 2026, would it just be best to dollar cost average into Bitcoin every week and forget about altcoins until the next bull run starts in 2028?

You have actually got so much involved with altcoins and now considering more of Bitcoin, I will advise you firstly to know that Bitcoin is not a quick and get rich scheme such that it is less volatile when compared to other coins, understand your risk profile before venturing in to any kind of investment, Bitcoin is best appreciated when view on a long term perspective. However, if you have all this figured out there is no point waiting for a bear season before starting up your Bitcoin investment perhaps the DCA strategy of accumulating Bitcoin has nothing to do with the waiting strategy but rather it make investors to be in the market without any form of timing the market. Get started either weekly or monthly with an amount you can be comfortable with after ensuring that your basic needs are taken care as well as ensuring a professional emergency funds.

Altcoins are so risky to invest because they are not reliable. There are so many altcoin in the market that has the potential of being a scam project, it is just better not to go into an investment that they outcome can't be predicted if it will be profitable or a lose.

Bitcoin is the best investment to go into, it is not risky to invest especially when it is a longterm investment. It is possible to invest altcoins,  longterm investment just for you to see that the investment is not a profitable one. I would go for Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the only one coin that I'm completely sure if the price fall more than 50% it will recover after next few years.

While altcoins, it could be turn rug pull and delisted from exchanges Invest in altcoins not really depends on the market, but if I have a choice, I will buy during bull market. I think you understand the concept of how to invest in altcoins and bitcoins, of course if we talk about Bitcoin when you want to hold it for a long time it won't be a problem because bitcoin will always repeat its highest price every cycle, but altcoins are different they won't have the same fate every bitcoin cycle, and I think you understand that.

The diversification that is done on your altcoins only needs to be for a while and should not be treated the same as we invest in bitcoins, altcoins are another investment alternative that we can take, of course with good analysis and with good projects that can also provide benefits, for example you do it for a semester, after rising a few percent from your target then the Altcoin you bought must be sold as altcoins should not be held in the long term.

It’s surprising that the OP is already talking about the bear market, and when the bear market will be coming, even when  the bull run is just about to start. The OP should know that nobody knows when the bull run will end, and when the bear market is going to start, so anyone shouldn’t even think the OP is right.

Before altcoins are going to start moving, then bitcoin will have pumped first, and I don’t even know the altcoins which the OP is holding, but some altcoins might not really pump hard even during the bull run, so the best thing is to hold a strong altcoins, if anyone is investing in altcoins, but the best investment is just bitcoin investment.

For me it's best to stick with Bitcoin. Bitcoin will always be the driver of the market, and with Bitcoin you have this assurance in bullrun that it will always pump even if altcoins won't pump. You don't even have to wait till the bear season to start DCAing with Bitcoin. I can't advise you to put your money in altcoins they are very risky and the chances of you losing everything is higher than it is in bitcoin. Bitcoin will always be there, while most of the altcoins are just seasonal. You might see them doing well today but before the next circle they have fade out, and won't be in trend anymore. But Bitcoin is always there, it doesn't fade out, rather it keeps going higher each circle. Just stick with Bitcoin and you will be fine. There is nothing you are looking for in altcoins that Bitcoin can't give to you. So invest where your funds are more secure and that's Bitcoin.

Altcoins are just getting started. I am holding some that have had 20% increase since Trump became president but also hold some that have out performed Bitcoin and done over 200%.

Bitcoin is king for the long term yes but for the next 6 months or so many altcoins will outperform Bitcoin.

Doing your own research on the assets you are going to buy is better than listening to investment advice from other people, such as influencers or information from social media whose original sources are not credible. In crypto asset investment, I prefer Bitcoin over Altcoin because its resilience level is stronger than other coins. Yes, the Bull run has just begun, a number of assets purchased at low prices have started to generate profits. Rather than waiting for a correction to occur, it would be better to use the DCA method because we never know when the Bearish moment will come.

The way this your explanation goes on it show that you have been in the crypto for a while by now you support gain a lot of profit if is true is that you some altcoin since around 2022, and with the way I see the market is goin on this days when they see that the bull run is about to arrive some of the altcoins has begins their journey.

People shouldn't underestimate the effectivity of DCA for Bitcoin. So, if you are able to do that until 2028, then do so.

And if by any chance you're able to make more money through other means and you want to get into any other investments aside from Bitcoin. You're also free to do that.
