Trumps policies are necessary for the development of America, a lot of citizens are crying out right now but he hasn't done anything wrong so far. People are complaining that he's heartless for stopping the funding of HIV drugs to African countries, but they forget that the most part of these funds are being embezzled by African leaders, he's aware of this that's why he decided to stop funding it. ARVs are supposed to be free if they are being funded but people have been buying these drugs for years. Trump is here to put things in place so america and the rest of the world would sit up.

The backfire they're predicting is about something else not the higher prices because that part is obvious since that's how tariffs work. When the government adds tariff to an imported product, that tariff is added to the price of it so it becomes more expensive for the consumer. The objective is to discourage people from buying it and the oligarchs from importing them while encouraging people to instead buy the substitute. That way they hope to help the domestic production, help create new jobs, reduce unemployment, strengthen the economy and so on...
But that only works if the domestic industries can actually manufacture stuff and compete in both quality and price. And that's a big IF. The reason why many are saying it will backfire is because production in the US is extremely expensive and it cannot compete in both quality and price with anything manufactured elsewhere. So when they add high tariffs, it will inevitably lead to higher prices of that product whether imported or domestically manufactured therefore there will be higher inflation.
Not to mention that Trump is crazy, he is basically declaring war on the entire world. It is not just China he is threatening. He is also threatening: - BRICS members which means more than half the world - Any country that dedollarizes that is also more than half the world (more than BRICS) - Canada and Mexico as you already said - Europe if they don't buy the super expensive US oil and gas!!! .... And remember, these countries can and will retaliate and they will impose tariffs on US products which will reduce US exports leading to shrinking economy and higher inflation!
Trump said the increase in costs would only be "temporary". The effects would be mitigated if the US starts boosting domestic production (like you've said). I guess you're right. Such a move will result in higher prices in the long run (inflation). I know Trump is trying to make the country safer by keeping out immigrants and drugs (particularly fentanyl), but tariffs are not the answer. There are other ways to do this. At least, Canada and Mexico backed down. Only China decided to retaliate. But I think it will come to its senses. Everybody wants economic prosperity, right? Most countries need US' support to survive. Without it, they will be nothing. Let's see how it goes...

China is not retaliating, they are just defending themselves after being unreasonably and arrogantly attacked by Trump. Trump is the one who needs to wake up, he should stop having the illusion that all other countries will be scared and will surrender to him. If the trade war between China and the United States continues, both sides will suffer serious losses, not just China. We do not need to exaggerate the power of the United States and what it can do. The world economy will truly function smoothly and stably when countries unite and create common interests, instead of using power to bully each other like what Trump is doing.

I wouldn't say backed down because US regime's policy toward different countries is not the same even if the statement they make look the same; eg. tariff on Canada is completely different from tariff on China. When the representative of the regime threatens Canada with tariff and Panama and Greenland with annexation, that is more of bullying to force these governments to make a concession benefiting the colonizing regime (US regime wants in on the Northern corridors and they have to go through Canada and Greenland to get there and the Southern corridor that Panama is making money from). But the tariffs on China is a full scale economic war and it started many years ago (Obama era) and US regime is growing it every year. They want to destroy Chinese economy and weaken it so much so that after removing China from global markets the super expensive US products find consumers. So obviously China retaliates while Canada and others concede. But I think it will come to its senses. Everybody wants economic prosperity, right? Most countries need US' support to survive. Without it, they will be nothing. Let's see how it goes... The world has changed. In the New World Order and in the multi-polar world US no longer matters. Not to mention that US economy is now a Ponzi scheme on the brink of collapse and they have not been beneficial for any country at all for many years. On the other hand, BRICS and the other countries with growing economies are entering the new era of economic prosperity that can help weaker countries as well; effectively replacing US controlled financial institutes like IMF for example. Just look at various investments, trades of goods and technologies, loans, etc. amongst these countries. So for example while the US regime is threatening Panama with military action and bloodshed, China is investing billions a little to the south into Peru and is building a corridor through South America (fast railway) that helps the economy of multiple countries immensely.

From the look of things I can see that trump has the interest of America at hand that is the reason why he is proposing these kinds of laws to make sure that American economy is up there doing well especially making federal reserves to lower interest rate as it will help stimulates the growth of business and even tax reduction is in order because it will be helpful to business growth especially small scale business which will have a significant positive impact on the American economy
But the problem that I have with the Trump administration is his proposed imposition of tariffs on foreign goods coming from Mexico, China and Canada this move is not in the best interest of America but what I see is pure politics which I know will backfire negatively on the American society and invariable in economy because these countries too will react to this move by America especially China that some of Americans companies are located due to the cheap labour over there and America is a big importer of Chinese goods so China will also increase the price of goods going to America and will also reduce the rate at which Americans goods come into China trump is setting up a trade war against China especially which i feel that is not necessary in this present point in time because China has a great grip of most parts of the world and coming at a time that most countries of the world is planing of leaving the American dollar for trade is not in the best interest of America because it will have significant impact on the Americans government

Yes. China is focused on strategy. Meanwhile, the US tries to keep dominance by forcing countries to meet with its demands. It's no secret that the USD is dying. And there's nothing Donald Trump nor Elon Musk can do to save it. Empires rise and fall. The US is not an exception. It won't be long before the "American Union" collapses for good. I wouldn't want to know which other country takes the reign as the world's leading superpower in the future. It will be "hell to pay". Especially if we're talking about China or Russia. We'll see what happens.

I wouldn't want to know which other country takes the reign as the world's leading superpower in the future. It will be "hell to pay". Especially if we're talking about China or Russia. We'll see what happens. This is why I like the idea behind BRICS and similar "unions" for the New World Order. They prevent repetition of the unipolar world we experienced in the past ~30 years. I believe that in the future as the new order solidifies we will have a truly multi-polar worlds that doesn't have a "global" superpower, but instead it has "power blocs". That is different groups of countries, usually neighbors in a certain region, forming an alliance or at least coalition and it will have a regional super power. Then blocs have relations with each other. This brings more decentralization as well. So there won't be a singular centralized UN, IMF, WHO, WB, etc. all controlled by and abused by one regime any longer. This has been in the making for many years now. For example in West Asia, Iran has been trying to establish such a bloc as the regional super power. This is why Iran has been trying to work even with those regimes that have some degree of animosity toward the country like Emirati dictators. For example this is Iranian naval warships in Emirati port in the recent exercise in past weeks after the unmanned aircraft carrier was deployed and new seabases started being built to ensure regional stability and trade route security. I speculate to see more of the same things in the future in West Asia and everywhere else as well. China in East Asia, Brazil in South America, Russia in North Asia and possibly blocs in Africa. But I expect two unions to to become weaker and possibly even fall apart, one being US and the other one being EU because at this point they are fighting each other and specifically in the US they are in denial trying to keep the dead old world order instead of accepting the new reality.

Trump, without any serious negotiations with these countries, decided to immediately impose 25% duties on imports of some goods from Canada and Mexico, and these countries immediately announced similar retaliatory measures. After that, information appeared about suspending the introduction of duties for 30 days, which were planned to be introduced from February 4, and talks about a possible solution to the issues without establishing these duties. That is, smart people usually start with negotiations, and not with intimidation, as happened in this case. But the main thing is that the issues that arise are resolved and are beneficial to both parties. In this regard, I am very interested in whether Trump will use such a position of intimidation against Russia in order to stop its aggressive three-year war in Ukraine?

Can you point out to a statement where he says this is even one of the reasons? Because clear Occam's razor seems to be that Elon Musk, who was born in South Africa whispers to his ear on how Africans are being mean to colonialist families, which he probably got to hear his whole life being a son of family that benefited from colonialism. Elmo has even publicly accused south Africa of being mean to white people, and another reason being, trump doesn't care about Africans, and has called the whole place a Sh*t hole before.

Yeah. I don't Trump will use the same tactic on Russia. After all, Trump is a well-known Putin admirer. He has good relations with Putin. I don't think he's going to risk it all in favor of tariffs against Russia. What will Trump do is force Ukraine to never join NATO nor the EU. Just to keep Putin happy. Some Ukrainian land could also be conceded to put an end to the war. Trump is a businessman, so he'll how to negotiate with both countries for the benefit of all. China will back down on its trade war against the US, after it realizes it has more to lose than it has to gain. It may be the world's second-largest economy, but it still depends on the US to survive. What if Trump decides to move factories out of China and into the US itself? Then everything will be made in the USA. Not China. It's all about strategy. And so far, it's been working on Mexico and Canada. Who knows what will happen next?

basically trump took this step to further advance the us economy, by taking this policy trump has predicted for the future, but on the other hand it can affect poor countries by stopping the aid of medicines they need and that is concerning, for the whole of trump's current policy the point is to encourage us economic growth for the future.

Some Ukrainian land could also be conceded to put an end to the war. Whether or not to cede part of its lands to Ukraine will not be decided by US President Trump or Ukrainian President Zelensky, but by the Ukrainian people. Any territorial changes, according to the Constitution of Ukraine, must be decided by the people in a general referendum. It is unlikely that the people of Ukraine will agree to this. In the Ukrainian army has already stated that they will fight to liberate their territory even regardless of the peace agreement. As for Ukraine's membership in NATO and the EU, things are not so simple here either. Putin and his entourage no longer insist on Ukraine's non-accession to the European Union. The only issue is that Ukraine should not join NATO. As of July last year, in addition to the EU countries, 24 more states have concluded bilateral security agreements with Ukraine, including a 10-year security agreement with the United States. https://www.dw.com/ru/ssa-i-ukraina-zaklucili-10letnee-soglasenie-o-bezopasnosti/a-69357126"With this treaty, we declare our unwavering intentions and commitments to ensure that Ukraine can successfully defend its freedom, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity today and deter acts of aggression in the future," the signatory countries emphasize, including Germany, France, Spain and a number of other EU countries, as well as Japan, Canada and the United States. https://www.dw.com/ru/bolee-20-stran-i-es-podpisali-dogovor-po-ukraine/a-69638752Therefore, Ukraine may deviate from the course of joining NATO before Putin's death or the collapse of the Russian Federation, this is not fundamental. But all these issues will still be discussed in detail at future negotiations.

^ Do not tell that to Trump voters, they think if Trump wants to do something, he will just do it and nobody will say no to him. Reality is that, even if president of UKRAINE (literally the nation we are talking about and not even USA) could stop this war, like you said, it is a referendum question, and they have died this much to protect their land, nobody would believe that they would now stop.
Russia could try their hardest and do whatever they want, it is not changing, everyone is keeping their land and Russia is still defending the same two locations since the war started and not able to move any forward, and Ukraine keeps getting in and out, killing thousands of Russians along the way. If Russia keeps this up, they will not have any soldiers left to send, lately they have sent North Koreans I think, and even they did badly. So believe me, this won't end anytime soon, we are going to see both sides bleeding a lot of life, and continue until one side gives up.

I think Donald Trump tries to stick to his word and not do anything that will harm the American people. He supported foreign policy and imposed high tariffs on the goods of countries that spoke or did anything against the Americans. Such as high tariffs on Chinese goods (at one point, up to 60%), and heavy tariffs on Mexican automobile products (even threatening to reach 200%). Donald Trump is not limited to these and also imposes sanctions in various ways.

In order to continue the war, Russia no longer has enough armored vehicles or even vehicles to supply the army for the front in Ukraine. That is why the Russian army has started using horses and donkeys at the front to deliver supplies. And the State Duma of the Russian Federation has confirmed this. In particular, the Russian Communist Party deputy Viktor Sobolev stated that "it is quite normal to use donkeys and horses to deliver ammunition and other things to the front line," and also noted that there are currently "big difficulties in providing units and subdivisions, including assault squads and groups, with ammunition, military-technical equipment and food." https://opinions.glavred.info/front-mozhet-posypatsya-letom-pochemu-rossiya-usilila-svoyu-armiyu-oslami-10638581.htmlIf Russia is already forced to use horses and donkeys to transport cargo in the war, then what can we say about the prospects for continuing the Russian offensive, which has been going on since the end of 2023. Western intelligence confirms that by June 2025, the Russian Federation will reach zero reserves of military equipment in warehouses. Uralvagonzavod assembles about 200-220 tanks per year. Now look at the statistics of the destruction of armored vehicles of the Russian army, that is, how many of them the Ukrainian Armed Forces burn out per month. In just one and a half months of the coming 2025, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 368 Russian tanks and 851 armored vehicles, as well as 4,421 supply vehicles of its army. Putin, of course, continues to talk about the greatness of Russia and that the SVO (that's what they call the war in Ukraine) is going according to plan. But the Kremlin clearly did not expect that in three years of war they would lose over 850 thousand of their soldiers.

200% tariffs? Now that's insane. I sure hope that doesn't become a reality soon. Else, America and the whole world will be affected. Maybe the rising tariffs will force America to boost domestic production? After all, Trump wants to put America First. Perhaps, the negative effects of the trade war will be short-lived. These are uncertain times we're living into, so anything's possible. Elon Musk (the richest man in the world) is already by Trump's side. I mean, what could go wrong?

As they say in English: you can't have your cake and eat it too. Trump can't tariff everyone, literally, like Canada that is not only a neighbor but an ally, and still claim it won't hurt the Americans. And tariffs are not the only terrible policy he has, there are a lot of others like the ones leading to the current skyrocketing price of food and groceries in the US. Elon Musk (the richest man in the world) is already by Trump's side. I mean, what could go wrong?
Nothing, just Musk getting richer by filling his own pockets The other 350 million Americans won't see a penny of it

I think it is too early to make a correct assessment of Trump's policies in his current presidential term. First, because they differ on many levels from Trump's policies in his previous presidential term, and second, because we do not yet know the effects of these policies on the US domestic economy. Trump surprises everyone with major expansionist projects such as occupying Greenland and annexing Canada to the United States. Only one of these projects could have a significant impact on the US economy if it succeeds as Trump plans. But at the same time, they are projects for potential wars that could break out at any moment and affect the entire global economy, as we must not forget that Canada is a country with a giant, prosperous economy and Greenland belongs to Denmark and does not want independence from it.

I fully support that it is still too early to be judicious of President Trump’s (arguably) expansionist approach; after all, policies often have unintended consequences so they are extremely difficult to judge based on short-term results. He seems to be taking a different approach in this term though and is acting boldly from the start. In his previous term, he may have been aggressive in his approach but everything seems much more subdued in comparison to now. Statements such as his ambitions for Greenland, and Canada, make huge headlines in the news for their suburb scale; this leads to questions regarding the execution of such ambitious projects. The economic impact of these projects seems undeniable, ‘yuge’ compared to previous policies whose economic logistics seems obscure at best, ‘indefinite’ at worst. I can see the point you’re making about the similarity in his geopolitical decisions – which may not make him the most successful and long-serving ‘expensive’ president if they enact future global instability or conflict, the office of which, as you pointed out, mainly caters to Canadian and worldwide markets. Greenland is legally, and I quote, politically and ethically part of Denmark who, even more than Canada, is ready to fight the Americans on this one after having spent 181 years under Danish rule.
