I have nothing else to add here, except that apparently, Russia is trying to drag Romania into conflict next. After Moldova and some others.

Interesting to see what our Romanian friends have to say about this.

The European Union can again show its softness and do nothing. Now this new pro-Russian president will start dancing to Putin's tune, and Europe will be silent again. Such people should be expelled from the EU or punished.

Why don't you learn to respect the free democratic choice of the Romanian people?

Fitting that you write that when the subject matter was not even revealed yet Smiley

Ironically, this is related to the Romanian elections. One very pro-Russian dude and a pro-Western person are the two candidates who are on the polls.

The pro-Russia guy came out of nowhere, to be honest. Most of their people haven't even heard of him.

Let's see what happens next.

I've been following the right-wing turn in Europe closely enough to understand what the first post in this thread is talking about. It's completely unclear why you decided to drag Russia into this, when the reason for the strengthening of nationalist tendencies is the failure of the left-liberal globalist agenda with all these pederastic transes and other climate crap.

So the vote was not for Putin. What I really cannot understand is why, if the people of some European country elect a right-wing nationalist politician, then talk immediately begins about a Russian trace?

The head has greater influence over the rest of the body. If you do something wrong and the head is not pleased, it could influence the others, even your close neighbors/members, to work against you. The head can do this by just thinking it.
Russia is currently the acting head of the World..

First of all, let's put things into context:

Quote
Independent hard-right politician Calin Georgescu, 62, won 22.94% of votes in Sunday's voting, the electoral authority said. Centre-right contender Elena Lasconi, leader of the opposition Save Romania Union, lay second with 19.18%.

So... 23% in my book is not even close to the majority of people - thus happy to respect the will of the majority  Tongue Tongue

I am not sure how clean the election is, but yes... I agree with you. If Romania wants to distance itself for the EU or to leave it is absolutely fine. As someone said, the EU is not about military power and no country has ever been forced to join it - in fact the EU puts quite a few conditions to join the Euro, sometime even unreasonable requirements to join.

You why countries join the EU? Why Georgia was also playing with the idea? Because it brings prosperity. It does not invade, provoke or wage wars... it simply creates commerce and wealth. Wanna go out? Please go.

BTW... there is this little thing... if you leave or try to play against the interests of the EU as a group... you do not get any of this... so... good luck with your new leader, if it really becomes the leader.

Would those be the same "right wing nationalists" that often happen to be great admirers of the deranged KGB gnome, who happens to run troll farms (or buy politicians outright) that happen to promote "right wing nationalism" outside of Russia? What a weird coincidence.

I think you are an idiot, confusing right with left. It was on the wave of right-wing nationalism that Hitler legally came to power in the 1930s. Europe turned too far to the left and received the expected popular protest turn to the right. It is childish to look for Putin's influence here; Putin has enough of his own concerns to waste resources on propaganda in Romania.

Sorry the link does not provide legitimate details based on the information trying to pass out unless I am not getting it right here.
The content on X there does not provide feasible deliberate able discussion to debate about this as tilted "Russia's Shadow Conflict With Romania"

I think the media has always presented us what we as humans would love to hear and not the truth.
Also, the media has also been a technological tool of inciting conflicts amongst us. We just have to take note and stay watchful of what is speculated there in the media.

Tell that to the UK.
[...]

Believe me, UK already knows. In the EU there are countries that are more developed and contribute, while others are being developed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_effects_of_Brexit

Quote
From December 2020, the payments accrue twice a year. By 31 December 2023, the UK had paid a net amount of £23.8 billion, leaving an estimated £6.4 billion outstanding. A further £2.4 billion was due to have been paid by May 2024 with the remaining £4.0 billion being payable up until 2065.

Quote
The majority of economists believe that Brexit has harmed the UK's economy and reduced its real per capita income in the long term, and the referendum itself damaged the economy.[2][3][4][5][6] It is likely to produce a large decline in immigration from countries in the European Economic Area (EEA) to the UK,[7] and poses challenges for British higher education and academic research.[8]

An all this is for a large and globally significant and well connected country. Romania is not economically as significant - let's be honest, it is not even close - and requires EU funds to develop the industry, the services and everything else. Again, if they choose - really choose - to leave the EU they can have a look at how Orban managed to get the funds cut from the EU.

But I fully understand Romanians, they are great people and they can make the right decissions when leaders are no longer of use to them...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolae_Ceaușescu

Quote
His secret police, the Securitate, was responsible for mass surveillance as well as severe repression
[...]
Ceaușescu and his wife Elena fled the capital in a helicopter enrouting to Vatican via Vienna, Austria, but they were captured in Romanian territory by the military after the armed forces defected. After being tried and convicted of economic sabotage and genocide, both were sentenced to death, and they were immediately executed by firing squad on 25 December.

[...]

There is no "right" or "left" here, there are authoritarians and democrats. Both the extreme left and extreme right touch on breaking the EU and approaching totalitarians (Putin, Orban, Xi, ...). It is the same old same old... people who need a leader to tell them what to do versus people who tell their leaders what to do. I know which one I am in.

I am passive aggressive because you are indiscriminately accusing Russia of interfering in the Romanian elections and even of sponsoring the candidate who won the first round. Your proof link says that the candidate won the elections on TikTok, why don't you blame China, for example?
