Hello, anyone know how can I check temperature of Avalon Nano 3S? From application or web dashboard I cannot find this information

Also, it's possible to have a more "nerd" and "technical" web dashboard? The actual one is very basic Sad

Thanks, Marco

Has anyone successfully repaired themselves, or got a warranty repair for their 3s experiencing the 4R7 Inductor Detachment issue? Pretty sure it's what I'm dealing with based on their documentation.

After using the Avalon Mini 3 for a really long time, I gotta say that only thing that really annoyed me was the rattle noise caused by loosely attached fan exhaust grille. I've seen also many other people reporting it, so I suppose it is a type error. During my long term use it just kept escalating and I finally just could not stand the fuckin' rattle noise.

So my solution was a quick fix by focusing on the position where my grille was flapping the most and adding white glue (PVA glue) there.
It is eco friendly and non-toxic glue type, so I should be fine in regard of my house air quality. Of course the exhaust air is quite warm and white glue tends to melt in hot temp, but so far my fix has stayed in place perfectly.

(you can click it for bigger photo, see upper left area of visible grille in photo)

Hi everyone,

I am just wondering if anyone tried to insert an extra, more dense heat resistant filter under the default inlet filter of their Avalon mini 3?
I just noticed quite extensive dust accumulation within the unit and I am afraid that even if I clean it regularly it might catch fire

I thought about using something like this:
https://amzn.asia/d/06Lq5aE9

Thanks for any input.

Best practice IMO is just to clean the original filter very regularly and thorough (I clean it in my kitchen sink with water, and let it dry before I put it back).

your listing is for a merv 13

i do not know if the oem filter is merv 8

but lets say it is.

merv 8 means good air flow

merv 13 means restricted air flow

soooooo that new filter may stop dust better, but at the expense of cooling.

and heat breaks gear more then dust does.

To put your problem very briefly, the denser the filter, the worse the cooling. If you have pets, you'll need to clean the filter more often. I haven't seen any reports of these devices burning out if they're serviced regularly.
Try asking the manufacturer on their website what material they use.

I can tell you how it is done for the Mini 3.
Follow the manual for instructions:
https://static.canaan.io/prod/u_file/2512/08/file/AvalonMini3_UserManual.pdf

You can find the firmware upgrade file at Canaan website:
https://www.canaan.io/support/file_download
Select the product category "Home".
(Avalon Mini3 Firmware Release 2025061801 seems to be the latest available.)

A solo home miner running a consumer-grade Canaan Avalon Nano 3S beat odds of roughly 149 million to one, winning Bitcoin block 951771 this weekend, and collecting a reward worth approximately $232,000.

Key Takeaways:

A solo home miner using a Canaan Avalon Nano 3S at 6.68 TH/s won Bitcoin block 951771 on May 30, 2026, at 4:27:23 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).
The block reward of 3.1404 $BTC was worth approximately $232,000, paid out via Braiins Solo pool.
Roughly 20 to 24 solo home mining wins have occurred in the past 12 months, with odds of about 1 in 149 million per block.

This is a very rare case of such success.
Pool: Braiins Solo

I posted this over in the Marketplace > Goods > Computer hardware  but wanted to share it here on this thread as well as this is for the nano 3s

we at cryptocloaks.com 3d print a cooler box that can house 2 or 4 of the nano 3 or nano 3s miners to aid in cooling of the miners and their psu's

Anyone got some feedback on the reliability of the Avalon Q? Tempted to get one, because I've popped a few diodes on the nerdqaxe++'s and despite being relatively simple to fix, its just annoying. It's likely because I kept using the stock PSU for a while instead of a Meanwell. I suspect the stock PSUs result in constant voltage sag which ended up destroying the diodes. I've had 3 in total go on me, and while the fun of a open source unit and getting the soldering iron out is fun, when its the same problem all the time not so much. Thinking, I just want to avoid these DIY issues that come with this sort of miner and go a little more industrial with the Avalon Q.

I've always read that the Avalon Q is a pretty hardy and stable beat that some people have been running for years now. Is there a similar echo amongst Bitcointalk users?

I got one 4 months ago and it's been very reliable so far.
It's the best Hashrate per watts I could find for home miners.
Was thinking a bunch of FutureBit for the same amount but would get much less Hash
For me I run on Standard at 1385 Watts 80 TH/s and won't try Super since my house breakers are only 15 Amps.

The Avalon Q is a good ASIC, but its main drawback is its high price, and you won’t recoup the cost of this ASIC before the halving if electricity costs 4 cents or more.
For regular mining, it’s an unprofitable investment; for solo mining, it’s a very expensive lottery ticket with not-so-low energy consumption.
For reliable operation, it’s better to use an Ethernet cable.

If you are using the heat to do other things such as heat the living space, heat a pool, your clothes dryer, heat your driveway (when it is icy or snowing) or any other thing that requires heat, then you are mitigating the expense of doing those specific tasks and thus lowering the cost of the mining.

We have customers that have done all the things above and more.

It is also possible to mitigate the expense of operating them if you have solar or wind generation for the electricity.  My cost for electric 5 cents and then I also have a solar panel system that generates electricity 12-16 hours a day.

right now we are also selling the Avalon Q for 1339 (based in the US) https://www.cryptocloaks.com/product/canaan-avalon-q-us-plug/  we have 5 remaining in stock at the moment.
