Reflashing the firmware won't help if there are faulty components on the board.
You need to examine the power circuitry, though there aren't many parts there that are prone to failure. You should start by replacing the connector, then check the voltage at the inductors and the controller- or do it the other way around if the connector is actually fine.

I am aware that if there are bad components inside that flashing the firmware wont help. I have already opened it and the connector looks fine, it is not loose. There are no parts that look damaged or "blown" so before I start removing or replacing the connectors and parts inside - I will attempt reflashing the firmware first.

You could post a photo of the board showing the power connector and other components.
A faulty component doesn't necessarily look burnt. If you have a working unit, you can use a multimeter to measure the voltages in the power circuit after the capacitors and chokes, and at the PWM controllers and then perform the same checks on the faulty device.

I will take it apart and snap you the pics as for a multimeter - I have no idea how to use those - I am an electrical moron lol for all my mining setup stuff, I have an electrician that does all of that.

Measuring the voltage with a multimeter is very simple, but the main thing is to be careful with the controllers so you don't short-circuit the contacts.
Ask your electrician if they can do this to repair your devices using this method.
But take a photo first, I want to see the power circuit.

as for the fw reinstall - I did the process, that was easy - it did not work.

Screen still shows a non-supported power error message. and app reads Power failure. it does turn on, can change all the lights colors on/off etc and wifi connects - it just does not mine.

I recommended you buy the most basic multimeter, which costs 4-5 dollars. Its only purpose is to measure voltage from 0 to 24 volts.
I don't know how anyone can live without this device. it's impossible to test a battery or accumulator without it.

I think the miner has a chip at the usb socket and that it is fried.

But this is a memory from 2 or 3 years ago. They are shit gear due to the power intake system.

Which chip are we talking about?
I read that 12 volts comes from the power supply via the USB connector.
From there, the voltage is distributed through PWM controllers and drivers. It could be a simple fault caused by a transistor, sometimes a small capacitor or resistor fails the kind that takes ages to track down.
It is difficult to test resistors and capacitors on the board without desoldering them.

USB-C PD uses a chip in both the power hub/brick and device (and separate cables) to negotiate what voltage to use which in turn sets how much power can be delivered.

For the cables, if the cable can handle more than 25w there is also a chip in the cable to tell the PD hub how much power it can handle. If the cable has no chip power is limited to 5v @5A unless the cable is permanently attached to a PD power brick.
 
That of course means that if you use a PD power hub make sure you use a cable rated for the power you are going to pull. AFAIK they will be 60w, 100w, 160w, or 240w and one of the connectors will have the rating stamped on it. Using a cable not rated for the power will result in the PD hub limiting it to what the cable can handle which will in turn probably result in the powered device not working.

Point is that power flows through those chips and if one fails things will not work.

I could buy one but I would never use it. I dont test batteries or accumulators. still have not had time to open it up to get pictures of the inside - will do so when I have time.
