Corruption gave birth to the economic crisis because the commonwealth of the nation is being diverted into personal gains this has become the reason why most countries that have witnessed one form of revolution or another be it economic or political revolution are all triggered by bad economic conditions of the citizens where the countries currency can no longer purchase the basic need items of the citizens and there is a high rate of inflation, hunger and starvation all this contribute and fuel any social unrest within the country.
This is the reason why most of the African francophone countries like Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger etc engaged in one form of revolution or the other was as a result of similarly related pertinent issues which boiled down to some root causes such as economic hardships, corruption and neo-colonialism. When you look at the triggers in those countries, one thing was common to all of them and it was the poverty line which was drawn to the bar.
Most of those countries were already improvished with lack of basic amenities, lack of access to education and lack of job opportunities due to government's inability to perform in its full capacity leading to frustrations by the youths and other pressure groups which then resulted to revolutions.
Corruption is another issue that mostly stems from the economic hardship because it is usually as a result mismanagement of public funds and unaccountability of public officials who violate work ethics and code of conducts, this then lead to the economic hardships and crops into public tensions.
What was very common with the countries I mentioned above was the modern slavery otherwise known as neo-colonialism practiced by the French colonies where their so called sovereignty states were systematically controlled by France and even their domestic currencies were bought by the government.
