For my own peace of mind I've taken gambling to be an expensive entertainment, so I tell myself that I basically bet for the thrill of it, not really about making money from it. So I try not to bother myself when I lose or try to chase loses, it is the easiest route to addiction so I avoid it by all means. When I gamble I hope to win but I also expect to lose, it's a strategy that I designed for myself and I recommend it to any gambler that don't want to be too much affected by loses. But if loses affects a gambler so much, it's better for the person to take a break for as long as he can or quit inorder not to be tempted to chase loses and degenerate to addicted.

I started betting on Stake in 2021, and I experienced what is called "beginners luck". I won some substantial money, but convinced myself I was an expert and could never lose...until I did.

Fast forward nearly 4 years and all I have to show for it is $100,000 in losses, $100,000 I could have used to buy gifts for loved ones, $100,000 I could have used to pay off student loans, and oh by the way, they are going to close my account if I don't verify soon. I was just scrolling through some of my betslips from the last few months, and I found this parlay I almost won. 6/7 of my predictions won, and it would have been close to $134,000 in winnings. That would have been my total net losses + my debts paid off!

I'm simply tired of this. I will not be verifying the account because I've decided that I will not be betting anymore. I've put myself in a difficult situation and I have many restless nights and nightmares because of this. I don't think I'm a bad sports bettor, in fact many of my predictions win, but I am addicted to parlays and I have been chasing my losses for too long. The pressure was just too much for me.

Sorry for your loss mate and $100k isnt something small or even a life changing amount into those people who do live on poor countries. Realizations does really come in the end and this is where we do usually made out decisions that we should have stop earlier but well its already too late and the damage has already been done. One of the bad things or behavior that you've done is trying out to chase up  those loses or trying to break even and thats why you do make out some parlay bets but we do know that parlays isnt something that could hit up from time to time, one loss then that bet is a total loss.  We do really make out calculations on the time that we dont have money anymore.

Its a good decision that you have decided to quit but make it sure that you wont be that going back again on betting because if you've been doing betting for a couple of years then it will really be that usually be having that kind of urge on which it is really that hard to control and this is something that you do really need to control If you arent that good on having that control and discipline then you will really be just that keeps on coming back. Again, hope that you can be able to stop and make things right at least.

When you can realize of what happening to you, you should decide to quit gambling immediately especially when you feels that you are slowly becomes addicted to gambling. You have your time to ends your gambling activity so you can cure your gambling addiction and you can enjoy your life without gambling.

Good for you since you have come to the realization that gambling isn't for you hence quitting is the best decision to take but if you have plans of returning to gambling as a hobby this time and not as a means of income, you have to verify your account so it doesn't get banned or blocked which might give you some hard time in reactivating it. I don't disagree to casino when they come up with new policy that'll be of great help to them to continue operations because when their customers don't verify their account, they might get some punishment from those of the authorities that are incharge of casino operations. Sport betting is going to ruin alot of people because of the mindset they have when gambling. People don't see sport betting to be a risky form of source of income to depend on as they put their whole hopes on gambling.

That being said, being able to pick 5, 6 , 7, or even 10 games is great, but maybe lower the number of games in your parlays and take a little less on the odds. I know you feel like your picks are great when you make them, but gotta have some sense and really think about your picks before being sure.

Yesterday I had a 9 team NFL parlay and won all but 1 bet. 41.27 odds on a $15 bet. Woulda paid over $600

Beginners luck has been the dead end of Many newbies so I'm not really surprised hearing you suffered this and had that to tackle, Literally suffered similar thing when I first started gambling and got lucky with some substantial amounts but all thanks tot his forum where I got to learn about gambling addiction and how to deal with it, I even learnt better about beginners luck more here on this forum and got experienced even more to the point I then got the discipline to keep my habit in check which I believe you too can but in the mean time, you may opt to quit for awhile, its not a bad idea actually.

That parlay he posted might not even be his. OP has lost credibility in his post, even though it sounded genuine at first. Honestly, it reminds me of someone I know who does the same thing, posting huge bets and claiming they’ve been limited by sportsbooks because they’re winning. Nailed it. The problem with these losers is that when they lose, they blame the casino, or worse, the game itself without acknowledging their own mistakes. Let’s use simple logic to put things into perspective: if sports betting truly ruined lives, it wouldn’t exist anymore. The government would have banned it by now.

I was about to believe your story is true and that is so close but that really happens. But let this be a warning to those that are experiencing bad with gambling. It's not always good results that we'll have and we won't win at most times. Better late than never OP. It looks like you know what happened and honestly if you can deal with it (parlay addiction), I reckon you can continue enjoying gambling. It's something a lot of experienced gamblers have felt before and it is possible to move on from it. I personally got pretty lucky with it and managed to handle it early on.

That motivation of yours that you could never lose in gambling is already a wrong move. Everyone experienced losses while betting, the only difference is that those professional or experienced gamblers know already how to minimize their losses while amateurs keep chasing their luck and try to recover their losses until they lost everything they have.

While sports betting can be fun and exciting and leaves some gamblers massive amount of profits, those who have no discipline and control, and just think that gambling could sustain their needs and wants so they keep chasing their luck, sports betting can certainly ruined their finances and even fall into gambling addiction.

You have an option to cash out that gives you a decent amount of profit that almost close to your 100K loss on this bet slip. Your greediness ruined not sports betting because you have a choice to stop yet you keep betting despite on profit and probably you stake huge amount per bet that’s why you lose.

Remember that there’s a house edge on every bet which means your chance of losing is increasing whenever you keep betting and taking risk.

You should have realized several years ago, before you experienced a big loss, that the world of gambling is not as beautiful as you imagine, you want the money you play in gambling to double, but fate says otherwise.

OP probably do not want to verify it because it might give him a justification to going back to gambling and using it again. I think if you are recovering from any addiction, cutting access to anything that could make you relapse is a good idea.

In other words, going cold turkey. But I believe a recovering addict can still find himself back to gambling later on in life when he is a lot more stable when it comes to financial state and mental state as well.
