There are times when I bet for fun, there are times when I bet to make it more interesting to watch a match that I will watch anyway. In some cases, I just play for money. As for betting on those types of teams that I don’t like or those types of sports that I don’t like, there is no problem with that. You may not like a sports team or even the sport itself, but if your match is promising in terms of making money, then I assure you, everyone will like it. Because everyone likes to get money for the right prediction. If we take tennis, I didn’t like it at first. But after a few winning bets, I liked it.

I think it is a problem if we don't like the team or the sport, and if we will still proceed. It doesn't matter if you will play for fun or profit. How can you enjoy playing for fun if you don't like the team or the sport anyway? If it's about making a profit, you will surely lose because you have no interest on doing your research about the team and the game. I can only believe that they won't matter if we are just riding someone else bets but there might still be a disappointment if they/we lose. Maybe some can do it for fun or for luck-testing purposes. They are the ones who don't care much about their losses.

It still makes sense to bet on sports that we like and even watch the game. Because for me, sports betting is not just gambling alone but also giving support to our favorite team. It is more entertaining watching our favorite sports rather than sports that we don't have knowledge about. 

Besides, we put our bets thinking that can make us win. And this is only going to happen if we know the team and sports well.

i am a sports fan before i am a gambler i watch sports and i bet on my predictions to amplify the entertainment and enjoyment i get from that sports i could not bet while watching a sport but it is always much more fun to look forward to the results knowing especially that you might win in the end so if your favorite team wins you are happy as a fan but you can be happier if you also win some money from betting on them

this leads me to thinking whether do people bet on sports they do not enjoy or are not a fan of? maybe there are people out there who are just really in for the money and they would bet on sports that are popular and they have a bigger chance on winning at even if they do not particularly enjoy them

personally i can't imagine having to sit and watch and analyze countless of matches of a sport i do not enjoy watching just to bet on them

During the last world cup someone here raised this type of topic. It was something that was on the minds of most people who are sports lovers and love to bet. There is this short clip from a South-African who when he was interviewed said he bet against his country (I think this was during the Nations cup, I am not too sure now). Being a fan of a club is about emotions betting is about logic. If you mix up the both of them, you'll lose money.

If I am not mistakenly I came across that same post as well but can find the topic anymore. Look, we are the people mixing up everything and make gambling looks so hard or difficult to our understanding and the we take it lightly the more we understand gambling the more. For instance if we remove emotions and gamble based on a solid state there will be no much lost but if we gambles giving much priorities to our clubs then we are creating an easy part of falling so quickly while doing sports betting.

Yes, you can bet on a game without watching it, yeas you can bet on things you don't know much about.
But betting on something you don't like and you're not a fan of it, how does this work?

You need to know at least the teams, at least what game that is, and how they play, just betting on the odds without knowing what game it is. Then how can you hate it if you don't know the game at all? A bit of a conundrum how this situation would even be possible.

yes you might not necessarily enjoy the sport that you bet on i understand that you could make some money even if you bet on sports you find no enjoyment in but it would be pretty difficult to gather data and information about the sport, the matches, teams and athletes when you find the sport itself boring or sometimes even ridiculous

I enjoy sports but I don't enjoy betting. I don't like gambling but many times I face my many friends who invest their money or gambling. That time I remained again and again, "I'm not a gambler but why do I spend my time here and this type of people who all time engage their time in gambling? Sports betting is usually something experienced people stay away from, here those who bet to earn money are the ones who get annoyed when they see their team lose. Such incidents can happen to anyone, because when I bet, I get annoyed at least when my team performs poorly.
On the one hand, my favorite team is losing and I am losing money on my bets, but the matches I bet on the most are football games. It ends in a short time and of course I am a football fan, which is why I like to watch one and I bet on the team that I have studied to be likely to win.

Mainly trying out new sports can be seen as a fresh opportunity for some gamblers. Few months ago I was discussing with a fan of women football, he told me it's easier to predict teams that'll win a match. Though I'm not a fan of women's league but with his details and the information provided by this person to me, it gave me a second thought about the game. And I'm now considering trying to bet on female football. Once you have a friend who enjoys a certain game, they is a tendency you'd want to give it a shot. All games are interesting, just that it's boring to watch alone and additionally when you don't understand it, because you've not built interest around the sport.

Not really that bad on trying out to something new because there are indeed tendencies that you will be liking or wanting or having that interest into something on which it isn't bad to test it out but on the time that you've been doing this because you are wanting to make money then this is where issues do really start. You are the ones will be having that huge problem when you do lose up money because you don't even know on what you are doing which is really that unlike when dealing up with sports that you do really know on what it is and same goes into the things which you are interested into. The time that you are going out of your knowledge and interest then this is where loses will be piling up.

Also, it's never been that entertaining that you will be betting  into something that you dont know. If you are a basketball fan and make out some blind bets on neither soccer or any sports then that surely shows that you are that betting for the sake of money and not for entertainment. Well, it will be just that depending on you on how you do find yourself adjust accordingly basing up into your interests. It's your money then it's your action and choices to be made but be sure that you won't be messing up yourself because this will mainly affect financial aspect.

There's nothing wrong, but I don't see a point to bet on sports you do not enjoy, it's like doing something when you're don't want to do it, who force you then for doing it?

High likely gamblers who bet on sports they do not enjoy are following on professional gamblers or paid groups that promise their picks have higher chance to win. Manipulation mostly happened on unpopular sports or unpopular events.

I enjoy sports but I don't enjoy betting. I don't like gambling but many times I face my many friends who invest their money or gambling.

But the truth remains that we as bettors can not do without trying something new from time to time, and to be honest with you, when we bet on a game we are not sure what the outcome will be, the nervousness and anxiety we feel is actually part of what makes betting very interesting.

I remember vividly the very first time I tried betting an amount of money I knew I can't afford to lose on table tennis game, a game i usually don't give any attention but had to bet on it that day because a friend said someone gave him the game to bet on, I forced myself to watch the match and almost had heart attack because at a point, it seems I was going to loose my money, but luckily for me and my friend, just a few minutes to the end, things turned around and we later won it, was a fearful but fun experience at the end.

As a casual gambler and sports bettor who plays for fun (apart from a few freebets and free spins which don't count ) I can't imagine myself betting on sports I don't understand or I don't like.

Perhaps, out of boredom, betting on an exotic sport I don't know could make some sense, but watching or simply following the results of sports I don't like is not in my plans, but it's really interesting to see what other users have said and have to say about this topic. Why not? For you, gambling is like a seasoning to the main course in the form of enjoying sports. And for others, it is a way to make money. These are the gamblers who will bet on "an unloved team" or "unloved sports". Nothing personal, just business gambling.

Of course, without such people the gambling community can't exist. Their goal is to win and they approach betting with calculation and cold blood, and not as a fun, unlike you.

Personally, I don't like going to work and working "for the man". But this and gambling with serious betting for winning, bring money. So, everyone has their own path, depending on their abilities.

It's obvious that only a few gamblers bet on sports or teams they know too well. Many just bet on anything they think can give them wins. After all, winning is what every gambler looks forward to and not who knows what in any particular sport.

That's something I could do but it has to be on sports I've a bit knowledge of. I know next to nothing about dog or horse racing. I don't see myself placing bets on any of them even though they all seem like the regular track event athletes perform. However, if someone who's vast in such sports holds my hand and  assures me of winning a bet on it; why not?

For people who are looking for money in gambling, they don't care about any sport for betting, while they think they can get money in that person, they will do it, as simple as people who are looking for money in the world of work, they don't care about any job as long as they can give They are enough money and income, and I think we can see it the same and even they force themselves to learn it first even though they don't like it, because it is compulsion from himself.

Indeed, it must be pretty boring to analyze matches in order to place bets without enjoying watch you are watching. I wouldn't do that, because for me gambling isn't a job, therefore there is no reason to place bets on sports I don't enjoy. Otherwise, where is the fun in gambling, then? Sports betting is only fun when we are excited about the games we are watching. We enjoy seeing the players' performances, and how far their teams can reach on the competitions.

By following their progress, naturally we will start trying to predict what will happen next on their careers or on the tournaments. That is where gambling comes into the scene, as it's an activity to add even more entertainment to the practice of guessing outcomes, as it involves financial rewards.
