SELL NOW OR HOLD?

This is one of the most loggerhead discussions about the bitcoin market, should I hold or sell, so I want this to be a tread of your opinions and why

I will go first
 
  The idea of either holding or selling your coins is always done with speculations and fear of the unknown in most cases(not all) however I feel this decision is not supposed to be based on arbitrary and random speculations, it should be done with proper analysis considering the economic and technical implications in the coin, whybwas the coin created  by who if possible, what else can the coin be used for etc   btc for example is gaining more and more global traction on a daily basis for so many reasons.  with this kind of economic information dded with the technical formation of the coin, decisions about holding or selling is almost 50% solved
  So I would prefer to hold for as long as possible, since coins generally do well with time

holding bitcoin as long as you can is very good and highly recommended but if it is altcoin it is very risky. 60% of altcoins mostly end up with a drastic decrease in value, and many even end up having no value at all, so if you really want to hold altcoins, it's better to hold altcoins that already have good fundamentals such as ethereum or binance coin (personal suggestion). For memecoin, it is not recommended that you hold it for long because memcoin is only a speculative asset whose value is created solely by hype and has no definite use that would make its value last longer.

To be on the safe side, altcoins and memecoins are not recommended for the long term. Although altcoins have strong fundamentals, there is no guarantee that they can go back up when they go down because there are so many like that. Ethereum and BNB are indeed good fundamentals, but believe me, many professional investors only invest in these altcoins in the short term, the profits they get from altcoins will be transferred to bitcoin. Because they themselves don't really believe in altcoins.

The point is, when we have entered the crypto world, we must have a priority coin in our portfolio, and that coin is bitcoin. Don't make altcoins a priority in investment, besides our mentality or psychology will also be disturbed when holding this altcoin will be different when holding bitcoin because it is clear that bitcoin is the parent of all coins, even altcoins that go up are mostly based on the price of bitcoin besides that you need more extra information to hold altcoins. so if asked to sell or hold altcoins now, if you have made a little profit, you better sell and switch to bitcoin.

Why shouldn't sell altcoins and buy Bitcoin? In my opinion, Bitcoin is the best option for long-term holding. Altcoins may have good short-term growth potential, but they are all dependent on Bitcoin. So why not just buy Bitcoin and hold it?

We should always leave 80 % to 60% of our crypto portfolio in Bitcoin because if any of the altcoins we are holding eventually crashes or the price keep going down, allowing us to make losses, we could be surprised that those of us that have higher percentage of Bitcoin in our portfolio will not be bothered. Investors need to be aware that the crypto market is very risky and luck does not happen here always.
You could buy a coin and the next day, you could be surprised that the price has crashed and there is no way you could get money to help yourself if that's someone that like putting all theirs eggs in one basket.

I do not think we should even wasnt to think about selling any of them right now. We will lose our profit if we sell them when they are low. so, I think HOLD!

Perhaps when someone buys some time ago and decides to sell it now, the profit gained is relatively small, so it is better to hold it in the long run to get a bigger profit.

However, it is different when buying gradually for a long time, when the price is much lower than the current price, the decision to sell is reasonable, at least selling part of it to feel the results of patience and consistency so far, all back to their respective strategies in seeking profits in the market.

You should know that not all coins do well over the time, the coin which you are holding will determine if you will make money even if you hold over time. If you are holding bitcoin, or other strong altcoins, then you should know that they are going to perform well over time, but if you are planning to hold shitcoin, then you should know that you are making a great mistake. Shitcoins are always hyped, and immediately the hype dies down, then the coin is also going down, so if you are planning to hold coins like that for long term, then you will end up losing your money. But if you are holding bitcoin and some strong altcoins, then you will be making profits over time.

Yes I think you're right, some coins do well over time but not all coins. Some will do well for some time but with time it will start depreciating in price. We have seen so many alt coins suffer in this manner,they started well but after a while they can't seem to be able to keep up.

The best thing to do before investing in altcoins is to first carry out research on the best one to invest in else you will just end up losing money. If you plan to invest in shit coins then you shouldn't hold for long because they are likely to fall again after sometime. Not all altcoins should be hold for a long time.

Just as Issa56 said, Bitcoin and some strong altcoins are recommended for long time holding not shit coins.

Whenever you think a coin price is already low, don’t be surprise that some people are still in profit, so because a coin price has dropped doesn’t mean all the holders will be at loss. Am sure everyone holding a coin are having target, so what they should do is sell when their target have been hit, but if you are holding a coin, and you are not yet in profit maybe a dump happens, don’t sell at lose, just make sure you hold, and it’s going to bounce back, but make sure you are holding bitcoin, or some other strong altcoins. Don’t hold shit coins and you will be expecting it to bounce back.

Hold some in a cold wallet for the long term, sell some on the exchange for some quick profits.
A mixture of both works best. You need to be taking profit, but also storing some for the future.

Well right now is not a time when we want to be selling our alt coins. We are now seeing some very big gains and are going to make some profit when the next 'bull run' does start.

Alot of the alt coins are down some even 50%. We are seeing a Ethereum up more then 27 percent in only the last 7 days. If you sell now we will miss out on alot of gains. Just hodl and do not even think about price of your alt coins.

I know the price looks high enough that we are all thinking about buying, but the reality is that we are not going to see this do that well. I am sure that we are going to make some money, but it will not take that much for us to keep going higher.

So if you sell right now, and the price keeps rising up, you will regret. I would suggest, put your sell order at 90k, if it reaches there, sell it. That way, you will protect yourself from downside, but also, if it goes under 90k, it will most likely keep going under that too. I would suggest, put the sale order at 90k, but also put a buy order at 75k after that. So if the price goes up, you are not selling, and if it does go down, then you sell but you have a place to re-enter when you want to.

If it is bitcoin you have in your portfolio, I will say you have made the right decision to hold it for as long as possible because bitcoin investment is suitable for the long term, and you will surely reap from your bitcoin investment if you are all in for the long term, but if you are talking about altcoin, I will advise you to sell it whenever you are in profit because if you want to hold it for the long term, other investors will take profit from that same altcoin you are holding and use you as an exit liquidity, which could expose you to losing your money.

Thing is, you are talking about past gains. Those are not gains unless they are cashed out at some point.
Altcoins follow bitcoin and bitcoin might be doing another double top right now. So while breakout might be happening, there's a change for fakeout like last time.
So we are in danger zone right now. It could be an opportunity, but prepare for worst case scenario, because alts will get most hurt if we are done for this bull run.
