Seems the name Trump is beginning to look like Dump to me. Every statement I expected to be very bullish since he resumed office has become bearish.
Well I would say market correction will bring back bitcoin to six (6) digits again which is in this same month February but a new ATH under Trump might not be guaranteed this month but if it does then I see 128kish price per bitcoin.
This is what happens when people put their hopes on politicians who can do anything to get into power but later on, they deviate from the course that made people to give them consideration. Though we can't actually begin to say hateful words or question Trump's quest to improve the crypto industry, but we should also learn that without implementing government policies that could impact positively in the price of bitcoin, bitcoin is prone to undergo upwards and downwards movements so since we have enjoyed the price being in a progressive form since Trump's election in November, we should also bear it now that the market is becoming bearish as it won't last for a long period of time. With how the price of bitcoin has gone down, going back to 6 digits may not be achievable in the short run, before the market will get back to 6 digits again, it'll take time.

Nothing to be sure of Bitcoin has been more bearish ever since Trump went in to office, I perceive criticism on the side of Trump having a coin in his name and at same time claim to be a Bitcoin enthusiast, if Bitcoin can be doing very well before the election there is nothing to rely on his political promises on Bitcoin, with or without Trump Bitcoin will keep going higher because it has value and new investors of different classes are joining every day.
Criticism not from him but of him. Trump haven’t done anything to discredit Bitcoin if I’ll be so bold. He indeed did come up with a Trump coin but, that’s was for the money hungry pump and dump gigs of the cryptocurrency space. Of course you would expect that he would be more promoting and provide good grounds for success of his Trump coin but what happened, it turned out to be one of the pump and dump coins that we’ve got out there. Nothing outshines Bitcoin, you’ve got to know that. If you aren’t in them alt for the pump and dump, you shouldn’t be doing that at all. Bitcoin is where you should be putting your money and that’s a fact. It doesn’t matter whose coin it is, it’s all always about the public and how they perceive it in the end.

Well $75K is becoming more likely than $100K. Atleast we did this correction before any New ATH. However, we are going to have a bull now, and that could be near the end of the year, I would say the best way to explain it would be saying Q4, that is what I believe, last quarter of the season, when that happens it would have been a good thing without a doubt, we should not be worried about it and we could make money if we could hold only until the end of the year, it will go up even before that.
with normal halving cycle Bitcoin doesn't have to wait to Q4 for we to expect an increase. I'm still optimistic And even more optimistic after this correction. Excellent point if the ath shot up to 114 or 115 the hours after he pardoned Silk Road owner and then crashed it would be worse.

This thread is aging very well so I dragged it back up. Adding some fun to it. From a post I did on altcoinstalks https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=329315.msg1747675#msg1747675

I pick Oct 2025 .
Hard to realize Joe Biden has the title.
But the ath was at least 5 hours before trump was sworn in. the hourly high was 7am and 109,186 usd
Your pick is nice, though it's related to the old tradition/cycle way of viewing it and I would have chosen the same if I looked that way. To be honest, I think things are changing in the world of Bitcoin, which is why I have serious doubt that another ATH will happen during Trump's administration. The lack of serious additional liquidity to slice above the current ATH and Trump's actions and inactions will make sure of this. Surprisingly, the next US president, who may not be known as a Bitcoin person, could have Bitcoin breaking the level at his time.

However, given the current market situation, I do not think the price of Bitcoin will increase in the next few months, but in October it seems that the price of Bitcoin will increase and create a new ATH. However, after Trump won the election, the price of Bitcoin increased, but now because of Trump, the price of Bitcoin has started to be dumped again, but it is not possible to say exactly how long this market situation will last.

yeah we could crash right across the boards
with everything everywhere all at once crashing downwards in a depression as bad as 1929-1936
that would be truly fuck up 🆙 as none of us have been around long enough to deal with a real big ass depression.
If this last five or six or seven yers it will really hurt us all.

You are making a good point, and I've been of that disposition too. Let Bitcoin be Bitcoin, regardless of who the president of the United States is. Bitcoin didn't have the permission of the US president when it was at $5, and grew to the insane level it is now. The Bitcoin community is large and self-sufficient, that's what we should all be looking at above all other things. This will reduce the heartbreak if the so-called president disappoints.

Once the government stops ignoring and wants to intervene more deeply in the market, bitcoin will hardly be able to avoid the impacts coming from them. The US government is the one that controls the flow of money, regulates the world economy while bitcoin is just a small part and depends on economy. Bitcoin is not independent so it would not be entirely correct to say that it could still grow if they did not want it to. Bitcoin is just a financial market, its rise and fall depends on the cash flow of the market and the United States is the country that controls the world financial market as well as the largest market in the world. Don't deny their role and influence.

No doubt that the top world countries' actions affect Bitcoin, especially the US, because Bitcoin is paired with the greenback (BTC/USD). But has that been the reason for Bitcoin to skyrocket over the years? Heck No! Like I said, thanks to the diehard community of Bitcoin that sustained it to this time, and also attracts more adoption.

What would happen and what bad things would happen next if the EU, its allies and much of the world followed the US lead? Bitcoin is what it is today thanks to its strong community, but how many people in the community are brave enough to fight against the ban to support it if the government decides to eliminate it? Remember, the US government never banned bitcoin, if they did, bitcoin would be very different than it is now. Look at the impact of bitcoin ETFs in the US or the idea of strategic bitcoin reserves...it would never have become popular if the US hadn't initiated it. I don't like the US but I can't deny their role and influence in every corner of the world, a small market like bitcoin is nothing. By the way, do you remember the mixer service? Do you still see anyone mentioning it or any other service that was active on this forum after they decided to ban it?

Heck right now coinbase has limited my account. They will not accept A NJ real id drivers license A passport Bank statements showing 36000 in pensions Plus my wife's pension over 60000 My ebay sales of over 55000 Paypal member for 20 years Stellar credit rating Lived in same house for 30 years And all rejected For kyc My name is rare no one has it but me I am a 22 year ebay seller with 2000 plus feedbacks and no negatives I spent hours trying to fix the issue. So yea btc and all of crypto is weak when a company as big as coinbase chooses to do something like this. I HAVE BEEN WITH COINBASE since 2014 all my tax records are held with them. So just expand this to a lot of USA people and crypto is fucked. The crypto world is legit so to,speak and look what a large company can do to harm it.

But you are getting the whole thing wrong, it's not about banning or not, it's about the survival and adoption of Bitcoin, and the appreciation of the price of the coin (all conditions being equal, like other assets). My point is that Bitcoin does not need a certain person to survive, it has always been like that. It rather needs its COMMUNITY, and it's this community that has helped it till now, and not a certain individual. Even with their good or bad policies, Bitcoin will survive. Why? Because it has a huge and diehard COMMUNITY.

This is unfortunately true. If governments wanted to, they can't screw up bitcoin itself, because it is decentralized, but they could definitely cause a lot of trouble for the best way to move forward. This should be moving further if governments not just ban bitcoin investment, but possession as well because that would mean everyone would have to hide it. However, while all of that said, I still believe that is unrealistic and won't happen. Because it is allowed right now, and that part of bitcoin has passed, if they made it illegal they would have done it at first place, but they are not doing that and they made it legal and everyone has it already so it is too late to make it illegal now. Europe and everywhere else, will continue exactly how they are at the moment.

Exactly, Bitcoin is a believe system that works, Therefore when a community of people believe in something and they've seen transparency ,truth and trust, it will be very difficult for a single person or few person to hijack the system and that’s exactly what Bitcoin is all about, anyone seen trying to alter a good system in place you will see the community fighting back hard or segregate this set of people, and this why the Government cannot do anything about stopping Bitcoin, because it's beyond control. They can only put system in place to try to disrupt it but the community will always brainstorm a way out.

In that case, Bitcoin will be devastatingly affected.

If it was very easy for any government to try hijack the system, I bet they would've done it long ago but it's difficult and offers decentralisation that's why most government are not pleased with it since they're not in control of it like the Apex banks, the least they can do is spread propaganda news that would affect the market in a negative way and give some people reasons not to trust the system but it's a failed mission cause Bitcoin has gain the trust of many infact several government and critics are beginning to see the benefits and even retrace their steps, I believe that Bitcoin has come to stay and no government can ruin the system or even bring it down, the community of Bitcoin is massively gaining ground beyond government control, Bitcoin is untouchable they can try all they can but it's a mission impossible.

First, we should respect the US government in particular for accepting Bitcoin, not otherwise. We all know what would happen if they decided to disapprove of it today. the least they can do is spread propaganda news that would affect the market in a negative way and give some people reasons not to trust the system but it's a failed mission
What kind of propaganda news are you talking about? The government is powerful, if they do not want Bitcoin, they do not have to sit cowardly in a corner trying to bring it down through false spreads. They would ban it outright. Don't they have the power? Let us at least be appreciative.
