I deeply appreciate everyone's opinion especially some points that says don't live on people opinion, don't live your life to please others and music is beyond religion, and some comments says chose what makes you happy. I have great lesson learnt from here. I appreciates you all

Please is it wrong for a Christian to listen to worldly music? What difference will it makes in his or her life? The crowd that always came to this guys shows, aren't the same crowd in church on Sunday. Please someone put me through, maybe am doing the wrong thing.
If your live your life based on people's view, you might never get the best out of life. I don't have to conform to people's standard because I have to live my life based on my beliefs.

I don't know what you mean by worldly music. Maybe they are song that are not religious. I don't really pay attention to how religious a song or the artist is, I am interested in the message. I can listen to song from any artist if I like the message it is conveying.

Anyway, the most corrupt people in my country are not in night clubs but in religious gatherings.
Through Christianity is  not measured base on music either worldly or Christian according to you but  rather measured through your heart.

Being a true believer doesn't mean you have to condemn other people's hard work to be worldly but rather showing love which is God and examplary way of life.

-.-

Though, the real problem is the interpretation some people give to the words of some religious leaders and the actions which are forbidden by them addicting to the own interpretation of the Bible. For example, there will be songs which do not directly talk about blasphemy or to go against God or Christ, however they explicitly talk about murder, drugs, vanity, anger and even prostitution, which are completely contrary to any Orthodox Christian church would teach to their members. That is music which is likely to be tagged as unsuitable for anyone in the church to listen to.

I have noticed there is some kind of stigma on some rock and metal songs which do not talk about anything religious, but just because the time of the instruments, those songs are shifty catalogued as evil by many nominations of churches around the world.

We cannot deny that there are indeed some church denominations that are too strict about their Christian teachings and prohibit many things related to the world. However, we only stick to the main streams such as Roman Catholicism or Luther, Calvinism, etc., which do not really have a problem with world music, but with the note that it does not conflict with Christian teachings.

That's why before listening to a type of music, we also need to understand the meaning of the song. because many western songs today look like ordinary songs, but contain the meaning of idolatry and devil worship.

For me I think listening to a kind of music refered to as worldly music is a matter of choice most times people listen to music because of the lyrics and the message it is passing across for me if I feel like getting multivated from a certain sound is not supposed to be a sin but when I become addicted to listening and always I think that's when it becomes controlling in my opinion though

You don't need to ask us this question because I think your instinct is in charge to let you know whether what you are doing is good or wrong. If you are truly a Christian, the spirit in your supposed to tell you that listening to a worldly music is out of ban.
Listening to a circular music might not be justifiable but when you use the word "worldly music" is means you actually know what you doing and you are waiting for people to tell you multiple times before it rings a bell in your head.

If you know that what you are doing is wrong, it is better you stop it than for you to continue and people starts seeing you like unserious Christian that knows the trust but don't want to abide by it. To be a Christian is never easy because their are lots of things you will have to avoid so you don't unknowingly involving yourself in ungodly things. Check yourself and maybe ask your pastors in the church whether what you are doing is right or wrong. Maybe that would give you knowledge about your behavior of playing worldly music.

Your conscience is your police that should guide your daily activities. I will not allow any religious fanatic with any religious title to dictate to me how to live my life. Every religion has a sacred book that is the reference point.  It is better to be guided by these books than to be a puppet in the hands of hypocrites.

I don't listen to music that promotes immoralities like sex, crime and fraud. There are songs that glorify crime and contain some foul language,  I don't listen to them because they are not beneficial to me and my family.  But any song that is morally sound and inspirational is welcomed in my home no matter who is the singer.  After all R. Kelly sang some of the best Christian songs but he is known for his negative lifestyle.  So my emphasis is on the content of the song and not the artiste.

It pains me when I see people trying to justify their wrong doing claiming that there is nothing wrong with it.
I think op need to ask a lots of questions from his so called church to understand some certain things that should not be done. It is just like saying some certain things in the scriptural book should not be taken seriously. Everyone should be able to differentiate between good and bad and that's why we have our instincts telling and giving us signs that what we are trying to engage in is actually immoral due to our religious practices.

what do you believe in? every religion and organizations has it do's and don't based on what members of the religion believes in. for the Christians, some kind of lifestyle  including listening or dancing to some genres of music might be seen as something that is against the standard of the Christian religion. if standard is to be followed, it is an hypocritical act to be a member of a religious organization and fail to follow her do's and don't

The points are critical and at times Crystal clear. The response to music in the church sometimes and somehow carries the same vibe as outside church.

Then very important point

Whether ja rule, David ooo and so on. The lyrics is as important as the music in the first place, that you are a Christian does it mean not appreciating the peaceful home and society iimagination of Celine Deons, Don Williams, culture, dubey, Marley, akon etc

Even some, "say" so called Christian songs needs to be avoided as they carry in it no spiritual growth and development but so material oriented that it carries in it the same vibes as those songs to be avoided made by the non Christian singers
The lyrics matters

The word "worldly music" means that it's against the scripture. Why would a Christian listen to worldly when the word weirdly is unacceptable for the right doings of the Christians. There are enough gospel music op can listen to and have a good vibes rather than trying to act like someone that is not reading the Bible. The Bible does not support any aspect of anyone that really way to make heaven to keep listen to music that does not invites the holy Spirit. I think we need to select words and how to do things so they don't go contrary to the will of God.

Those musicians you mentioned are Christians, and if you pay attention to their music you will feel some impact and joy from their music at the moment which Christian and non Christians can listen to such music in the society.

Not that I'm supporting you for worldly music as a Christian or Muslim, because there are some worldly music you will be listening to , how to do bad things in the society is very easy for you to do without feeling the pain of the person you have done the bad to, and if you look at the campus where some of us grow from, you will know that some people that Play those worldly music are bad guys and they are well know in the campus and their societies too because some politicians use to make use of them during election to do bad things to people.

Listening to worldly musics may seem harmless, but its impact is likely to deposit seeds of worldliness and the wrong perspectives to Life (Not according to Biblical Standards) in You that sooner or Later they'd influence Your Decision, Lifestyle or perception of Life. In order to Live a Life that'd please God, worldly Music poisons the Genuine intention to do so. So I disregard.

According to what I have seen from people, yes they think that it is crazy for christians to listen to worldly music. They say that it doesn’t make you grow spiritually. Since you follow that religion, then you should believe in that I guess.

For non-christians, nothing really. It’s just music. To me, it doesn’t mean that you live through the lyrics. Often times, we don’t even listen to the music at all.

What exactly is the definition of wordly music?? Music is food to the soul. Listening to music can boost a person's mood. Definitely some things are not edifying to the soul and should be avoided as much as its possible. Many songs have advertised many vile and evil things and have made them acceptable. Certain songs have validated adverse behaviours and have promoted certain disgusting characters.  So in as much as people's opinion shouldn't be the fuel of certain decisions but  its still the consciousness of the opinion of the society that have restrained many persons from being perversed and vile. So in all,  do what's not just best for you but also for everyone around you in general.

Religious has  really brought the world into confusion with their different beliefs and we don't even know the reality origin given these directives and differences that has been built amongst others.
So whoever that listens to a circular or worldly songs is of the devil? What a blackout saying. I get frown whenever I see a religious believer who thinks that he/she is better than other religious believers.
I have also learnt that during the end time judgment will begin from the house of God (churches/mosques) and the rest because that is seemed where wicked people are being hiding using religious behaviors to cover page their sins and inhuman acts that are even against their beliefs.
I listen to Eminem, 2Pac, Dmx and Dax, they don't finish up a track of song without mentioning God. So where will the Christians rate them? The worldly or Godly song?
Please spare me that crap. We are all into the world and I don't see anything wrong listening to the stories happening in the world that are being expressed into music.

...
What exactly is the definition of wordly music??

It is music which promoted things which are proper of this world and not of the world Jesus Christ promises to his followers and those who believe in him and his father. If you tune in the radio at some random hour, you would find specific stations which broadcast music which have a lot of content about crime, murder, violence in general and people stealing others, it is a plain glorification of negative things within society which (for some reason) singers use them to generate income and catch the attention of the youngest ones  within their societies.
It is ironic, because those artist which glorify violence and crime are actually the last people who would be in a situation which could push them towards committing crimes for survival, as they the millionaire in detriment of destroying the values and morals of an entire generation.
