So I am new here. I would like to get some financial advice from you all regarding investing in Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency that I have been hearing so much about but still having cold feet to invest in it. I have some funds fixed  in my commercial bank for almost 3 years now that will be due soon. For the past three years, the interest gotten from that fixed money is not much to call that a wise investment decision so I'm thinking of investing in Bitcoin. 12 percent per annum is not that okay for me, just left it there to avoid spending it. Even though, I will just invest a little from that amount to see how it will turn out.

I was introduced recently to this forum and I must say, it's an incredible place to learn about Bitcoin. I have learned a lot these past few days. If I had joined this group earlier maybe I would have gotten some Bitcoins to my name.
Please, what do you advise I do?. Thank you as I read your responses

Investing in fiat only brings more room for inflation to affect you. The fact is even if you earn interest off the amount you are saving, you will still round off in a loss. The bank seems to be putting you in profit via interest but a net sum will put you in a position affected by inflation most of the time.

You can invest in bitcoin via the DCA method if you will not be able to buy a huge chunk at intervals.  But if you will be investing in bitcoin, I suggest you do a first hand research concerning privacy and security to avoid putting your coins at risk.

If you want to make more profit from bitcoin investment, you can wait and see how 2026 will be. Just invest little amount for now and wait for the market to fall first and later invest more money. Investing in bitcoin is good but it also has to be done wisely.

Banks don't give much interest on fixed deposit like they did in the past and I believe the simple reason is that banks now know that anyone fixing their cash doesn't know what to do with it. That's true, indeed. It's true because anyone with a business mindset and knows what lucrative business they can get into won't leave their money lying fallow in banks. So, banks even see the little interest they give as a favour.

Yes, this forum is indeed an awesome place to be. I also came here as a complete ignoramus on matters concerning Bitcoin and this entire crypto industry. With time, I grew and I'm still learning. The same will happen to you but you will need to stay active here to achieve that growth in knowledge.

Quote
Please, what do you advise I do?
One time I took out money for my rent and invested in Bitcoin. It was a success story for me but that depended on the period I invested. I may not have that boldness to do that now because of the uncertainty in the market. Though I'm bullish on Bitcoin to the point of it getting to $150k–$200k, I will be very skeptical investing that huge amount of my rent on it if it were now. As for you, I won't advise you to take out your deposited cash in bank and invest in Bitcoin except you're good at technical analysis to the point you know entry and exit points.

12% APY is actually big in banks.

If you invest in Bitcoin using DCA strategy you might earn 20% APY, I know 20% is higher than 12%, just let you know investing in Bitcoin don't really give a huge return unlike people who bought Bitcoin in the early days.

My advise if you want to invest in Bitcoin, make sure you hold it on your non custodial wallet, don't just trying to maximizing the return by stake your coins in lending sites or CEX to earn additional 2%-4% APY, because if the sites failure or bankrupt, you could lost all of your coins.

Think twice before you invest in Bitcoin, the first consideration is you get 12% per year from the deposits you have. Meanwhile, if you are in Bitcoin, no one can guarantee that you will earn more than 12% per year, you could lose in the end if you are not patient enough. Because Bitcoin is actually the sexiest investment if we look at historical performance from 2011 - 2025.

The second consideration is about security, your deposit will be safe in the bank, while in Bitcoin, you could make human errors which are usually made by newbies. Maybe you can store it on CEX, but that is still risky from a security perspective.

Questioning personal opinion, I would choose to invest in Bitcoin with note that you have to be strong enough to wait for the moment to come, you can look at the Bitcoin rainbow chart to see it's potential in the future.

To be honest, that 12% per annum is actually good and realistic. I'd keep that money if ever I have some spare to spend for buying Bitcoin. But if you have planned it all along and you'd use that for buying Bitcoin, do it whenever you're prepared to do so.

It's because that you'll need to take a long time before you get satisfied with the investment that you do by holding bitcoin. I'm not discouraging you but we're currently high but if you plan to go long term then just do it just like us, no one stopped us.

If your investment in commercial bank is end, you can allocate some money to Bitcoin. You can use DCA method to start with certain term so you just buy Bitcoin based on the time to buy. You can save the rest of the money in your bank account while you start a new investment in Bitcoin.

Before you start investing in Bitcoin, you need to research to find more information about DCA method, Bitcoin investment and else. That will help you to start investing in Bitcoin without worry and just run the investment plan for a year or two year. If that time is reach, you can sell your Bitcoin and take your profit and see how much increase your money.

I suggest you learn more basics about Bitcoin and watch videos on this channel ----> https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJWCJCWOxBYSi5DhCieLOLQ. If you don't need that money, investing 12% to 40% in Bitcoin for 12 years might be a good idea and give you an excellent return.

A fixed yearly return of 12% is already a significant ROI. However, if your investment is small, you might feel unsatisfied and look for a riskier option, hoping for a bigger return. But keep in mind, not every year is profitable for Bitcoin. History shows that there are years when the market turns bearish.

Take a look at this: the yearly returns over the last 10 years.

https://www.statmuse.com/money/ask/bitcoin-yearly-returns-last-10-years

and these are the years were there's a huge decline
Quote
2022 -64.27%
2018-73.48%

But in the other 8 years, it's really profitable, and on average, you'll earn more than 12% per year.

Investment in bitcoin wil, be one of the best decisions you will ever  make,  the possibilities are enormous and endless ...however that choice shouldn't come from mere wishes, hypes and expectations, bitcoin investment requires alot of research, discpline and patience,.its not something you jump into overnight. You must learn and understand the basics atleast
      ask yourself these questions
1.Can I control fear if I see my investment loosing value?
2.Can I control greed when I see the market spikes?
3.Do I have the discipline to learn and understand how the bitcoin ecosystem works?
4.If I lose my investment in the worst case scenario what will be the next move?
5.Who do I know that have invested in bitcoin before and what is their results like?
6.Is there anybody that can teach me about bitcoin investment?
I think answer to these questions and many others will go a long way to help your choices and decision making process

Fix deposit is a very slow investment if at all is an investment because the percentage is usually too small for such duration and even as that it has a huge disadvantage because the moment you put it for fixed of 3 years you have lend your money to the bank and even if there is a situation that will have a lot of consumption of money bank will not look at your face, but if it was Bitcoin for this 3 years you have spent on fix deposit your assets would have been getting lager now since Bitcoin price 3 years ago and now are not the same, however is not that investing on Bitcoin will be stocking money for you but there financial advantages is promising than on fix deposit.

Since you are in the Bitcoin forum, expect to see a lot of Bitcoin suggestions which I will go also for. Right now for me, it's safest and based on my past experiences, I had a lot of bad decisions including of exchanging my Bitcoin before with lot of random altcoins/shitcoins so instead of me just holding Bitcoin would've be successful investment I ever had.

You can invest your money gradually to bitcoin with DCA method that helps averaging your entry price. By DCA you no longer have to wonder where is top or bottom of Bitcoin and is it time and good price for entry.

If you already do due diligent research, you can invest most of your investment capital to Bitcoin like 50, 70% for your first purchase. Later you can DCA with rest investment capital and I am keen on DCA because after a first DCA time, you will have more time in the market and actually experience as an investor in this market. Observer and insider gives you different experience and emotion.

The data shows a compound annual growth rate of 107.40% which is way more than any fix deposit income or stocks market. And this 107% is purely Bitcoin, no altcoins or shitcoins.
Basically, you get profit on every year more than 50% except bear years like: 2014, 2018, 2022 and most probably 2026 if we follow the Bitcoin cycle.

These years have been the best time to invest in Bitcoin.

Well, you have come to the right place, regular study on this forum will help you gain better knowledge about Bitcoin. There are many discussions about Bitcoin and DCA strategy in this forum. However, you plan to invest in Bitcoin. Investing in bitcoin will be a good decision, but you need to know about investing in bitcoin, you need to plan long term if you want to invest in bitcoin. You should keep funds for emergencies, don't invest the entire amount. You can earn more profit from investing in Bitcoin than keeping money in the bank. Now I can't give you financial advice, you decide what to do thoughtfully.

The second consideration is about security, your deposit will be safe in the bank, while in Bitcoin, you could make human errors which are usually made by newbies. Maybe you can store it on CEX, but that is still risky from a security perspective.
12% APY, there's no way it will be safe. Not all banks are insured, most insured banks offer low APY.

This mean the risk of losing money in banks and CEX are same, the banks also risky from the security perspective.

For me it's better I lost my money due to human errors instead of other party errors, if it was from me, I only need to learn and avoid to fall to the same hole. While other party errors, nothing can be learn except never trust with other party.

12% per annum is good but somehow it depends on the amount you spend since the profit return would provably depends on the total amount you put on Bitcoin. If you intend to put small money from it I guess you will not get any nice return for that.

But I maybe you should try to explore other methods to use since somehow consistent daily or weekly accumulation is great way to increase your BTC volume or portfolio.

Maybe you need to engage with good discussions related to this matter so I suggest go on this thread "Buy Bitcoin the dip and hodl" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5132720.14200 don't get confuse about the title but people talk about DCA and other discussion that can help you to learn more about helpful things on your Bitcoin investment.

First and foremost I'm welcoming you to this forum, of course this platform is indeed a very nice place were you can get all the necessary information about crypto investment. However is actually nice to hear that you want to invest in bitcoin, of course fixed deposit can not bring a reasonable profit, just imagine holding bitcoin for 3years without being tempted to sell, Did you know how much profit you would have gotten from your investment by now? But it wasn't your fault that you didn't invest quite on time.

now that you're informed about bitcoin investment and it's potential in future I believe you can now utilize the opportunity, The room is still very much open for you to invest in bitcoin, but always remember to set an emergency fund before investing in bitcoin, because bitcoin investment is not a get Rich quick scheme rather it requires a lot of time and patient before you can get profited from  your investment. which is why setting an emergency fund is considered very important during this process so as to enable you leave your bitcoin untouched in your portfolio till the right time.

If you had invested that amount of money in Bitcoin the last three years, your returns at this time would have given you at least 200% or above of your invested capital and depending on your location and how well your currency is doing badly or getting better, you would have been at a better place financially at this point in time.

Leaving your money in fiat form in the bank for a period of three years for even a 50% returns at the end of the year is worse than literally 20 other ways of making good use of that money and getting an higher returns than what you can ever get from the bank. One thing is that we tend to assume that because the banks promises to secure our funds that that's the best option to go into but that's never the case if we properly think it through.

Bitcoin investment is the big deal and that you're in this forum gives you an edge such that you get updated on industrial trends while continuing on your investment. The market can be really volatile and for a beginner, it might be somewhat uncomfortable but by learning and relying on the forum for best bitcoin investment strategy, you get to become really grounded to the extent that that doing another three years or above holding becomes easier and much more profitable than keeping it in the bank.
