Why does the forum setting not allow it

I was reading through a thread on the gambling board but the thread has 302 pages and does not have an option for 'view all pages' but other threads that have up 15 pages has the settings (' view All' ) besides the last pages that you can click to see all the posts in one page.

My question is, would it be difficult to make possible for big threads like that to also have the VIEW ALL settings? If not, then why is it not there?

From my experience in the forum it will actually generate unwanted traffic. Infact when you opt in to view more than one page you may get frustrated with cloud fare prompts constantly telling you to prove you are human. I believe Theymos set up most of these things to prevent traffic issues and DDos attacks.
If you look back at the past of the forum we've experienced a couple of DDos attacks especially on BPIP and fixing some minor things like this reduce the risk of administrators having to battle with another attack.

I'm not 100% sure, but that's probably because it would put a lot of pressure on the server and possibly affect the flow of the forum by increasing the loading times of the pages because to fit all the responses from all those pages into a single page, it will take a lot of loading, especially if the thread contains images as well.

Also, some threads even have more than 34,000 pages, imagine people clicking on "View all" button on such threads, that can be misused against the forum and people are surely going to use it as an attack to hang the servers and affect the forum.

So, this is probably the reason why there is a specific limit, I don't what what it is, for how many pages can be viewed in a single page by using the "view all" feature.

It is worth knowing that you can see the view all on threads that are more than 15 pages but not more than 25 pages.

I do not always remember that there is an option called view all until I mistakenly clicked on it at times. What is the benefit? For printing or what?

I prefer to click on next one after the other.

Is it difficult to click the next page button for you to read the other pages of the thread? Besides when clicking the all button you always redirect to CF verification page because it takes much longer to load, thus it need to verify if you're a bot or not. How much more for thread with larger number of page.

It doesn't even make any sense to view a whole 302 pages at once, like how can one be able to go through each replies of more than 6020, it's really draining instead just viewing each pages of 20 replies one after the other is better. However, just like other users have said here, it will give the server heavy workload and can even slow down the browser and it becomes unresponsive because i have had such experience in the past while trying to view many pages at once and my browser was not responding.

Did you ask yourself that do you want to view all in such big threads?

Seriously think about it, I don't want to View all posts in a big thread, and I believe very few members want to read all posts.

Why would you want to read topics with so many pages? Most of the replies are just repetitive, so it’s not really interesting.

And if you’re talking about sports betting topics, especially for a specific sport, the past comments are no longer relevant since they were about old games. So, to me, it doesn’t make sense why you’d want to go through all that.

We only have a few genius minds here, but I remember seeing a thread before created by LoyceV that could display all pages, even beyond 15 posts. I just can’t find it now, but I believe that was around 2019 or 2020. So, if anyone could make something like that, it would probably be LoyceV. But if it’s not useful for everyone, then it might just be a special request.

View all is never my thing and if I want to read through threads regardless of how many pages they may be, I prefer to read them one after the other, this way I can be sure not to miss anything, View All will merge the entire thread comments in one and making the virtual to reduce in quality unless if I want to print the all pages which is something that I have never done before, so yeah I don't see anything special in that feature either, but still being a part of the Forum features it still serves it relative use and purposes.

Personally, I don't use that View all setting as that's not useful for me personally and it's first time I'm hearing that the setting doesn't works on threads where posts exceed 15 pages. Even 15 pages is a huge list when viewing in that way, and that's why I believe for the page by page method is still fine.

View all is always displayed on every page that is about 3 and must be from 302, in fact to me that view all doesn't mostly apply to the mega thread as I have tried to observe that on large thread but is not, maybe I don't know if that is from my settings or something else. May w it could be because I am not exploring the forum using my PC, I don't know if this has any restrictions or limitations of some functions from the forum.

The number of pages below 15 can still workable in the server but imagine the number of pages 50 and above and the request for those to take load, it took a lot of usage for the user to use, and including the factor of the number of people active using the server that time so it might cause takes load to the forum itself. Just like ordering a lot of food with just one crew to prepare that all. Just click on the next page.

 Have you tried watching a video that has a large capacity suitable for an Android on a smaller phone even when you have a memory card to support the space? What happens is that it can't be able to be viewed because the capacity is much and that's the same thing trying to view a 302 page worth of data on one click.
I also support the opinion of Mia Chloe since it's about as impossible to do as impossible can get. Really, why not keep going through the pages till you get what you want.
 If you can be able to access the whole 302 in one click, at some point, it would get tiring to read through all that wall of texts cause that's how it might appear.

Well it's not actually impossible for the form administrators to allow it but it will stress the forum servers and even cause loading problems. Bitcointalk is a big website of course and this suggests that it has good servers and can actually handle the traffic generated on a normal basis.

However allowing users of the forum to view over 300 pages with just a single load up will be a big mess on both the servers and on the viewers end. On the end of the viewers, pages will load very very slowly since you have to download mostly all the HTML files to be able to surf that page and on the end of the servers, the query load will be just too much and will cause loading problems generally.

The view all pages is something I’ve always known to exists but, haven’t taken note of just how many pages it was limited to; like you’ve mapped out 15pages or so.

Even then, it’s not a future I have used or would like to, viewing all them pages of a thread on a single screen. It brings the question to mind;
How big is your screen size?
It doesn’t matter if you’re viewing from a laptop, desktop or mobile device, you would eventually be limited to that device’s screen size and when it’s as much as 302pages long with each page carry just about 20 comments, your screen would have been filled to over flowing and you would have such a terrible display.

Breaking it down to view page by page makes perfect sense if there is any such thing.

When I first joined the forum, I wondered too why I can't view all the pages at once so I can just keep scrolling as I read on till the last page. The few times I tried, i was directed to a page where i have to confirm that i am human which is tiring. I thought it's something the forum is still trying to work on (maybe they are still working on it, i can't tell), but now I understand better. That would be too much work load on the server which might eventually lead to traffic. Just like me, you should get used to clicking "next" till the last page. It is also not a difficult thing to do.

During times when Bitcoin is booming and everyone is flooding this place with posts, it can barely handle the traffic as is.  I don't think we need to be doing things to make that worse.  I lost control of my inbox years ago and it takes an incredibly long time for it to load.  Sometimes minutes.  I've learned to click 'My Messages' and then mess around on the site for a while before clicking it again to have it load quickly.  I guess for people who don't post much on large threads or have a gazillion PMs, you might not know how bad the problem is.

I've been here for over 10 years (not all of them being active, though), and I've never used the "View All" pages option. I don't think it's necessary, and I don't understand why the OP doesn't realize why he cannot see all 302 pages on one single page. It's only sensible to NOT be able to do that, not only for the website but also for the OP's computer. Loading over 6,000 replies, 300 pages long, into one single page would be extremely resource-consuming for both ends. Imagine having a few people doing it simultaneously; it would crash the forum and perhaps your browser as well.

It doesn't make sense, nor is there any use for it. You won't read 300 pages of replies either. So why bother?

If I am not wrong because I have also asked myself this question but find it silly to bring up to the forum. So I only went on research and consultation.
so the "view all" feature in the forum is for posts that has 20 pages to  40 pages and as from 41 pages above would require users to navigate the pages one after the other based on the number of page you clicks.
This reason is being that the pages over 40 is being of too high capacity for the forum system to be able to load at once.
