It's not like you contact a bank and ask them to reverse an unauthorized transaction.

Bitcoin transactions are irreversible so once it's confirmed there's no way to get back the coins unless it ends up in one of the regulated exchanges and your government contacts the exchange and ask them to seize the funds deposited (but it's a long shot) and those recoveries happens when the hacked funds end up in exchange not likely for an individual loss.

So don't make the mistake of losing your bitcoin wallet's credentials.

If that's true, the recovery was not done on the blockchain. You need to ask the guy to tell you the whole story. Maybe the agencies that he used were able to track down the scammer and force him to return the bitcoin back to the victim since you can't reverse an already confirmed bitcoin transaction. Bitcoin is not centralised like those shitcoins, which the developers can freeze and reverse transactions.

Exactly. Even if recovery agencies identify the hacker, if he has already moved the coins to his own wallet, there’s no way to recover them unless he voluntarily hands over the wallet’s seed or private keys.
Recovery agencies and blockchain analytics firms can be helpful in identifying the hacker, but how quickly this happens depends on how vigilant/smart the hacker is.

I think you are dealing with the scammer if they recovered a lost or hacked BTC and they don't have any proof that a scammer's agency or someone trying to scam you.
Like others said, BTC once it confirms there's no way to reverse the transaction; it is not the same as PayPal, where you can open a dispute and chargeback the transaction.

Can you tell us where you consult? If it's just a random guy from Telegram, that's a scammer offering a recovery service, but in fact majority of them are scammers.

Bitcoin is not fighting with scammers neither are scammers any threat to the survival of bitcoin. The only major threat I see against bitcoin is those fighting against privacy, something that bitcoin and innovations around it, offers. Scammers will always want to steal from people through bitcoin and even their bitcoin but that is exactly what they do with the fiat system so there should be nothing that should make this a bitcoin problem. Just be careful in protecting yourself from scammers and also gauge your level of greed as that is the first thing that exposes one to scam.

Bitcoin users must understand basic things

"It's their keys, it's their bitcoins". If they could not secure their devices and wallets, let them compromised, and bitcoins were stolen. They will lose their bitcoin forever and now let's consider why it will be forever loss.

It's because Bitcoin transactions are irreversible and no way to rescue their stolen bitcoins on chain. Except if they contact police for support and police manage to arrest hackers and rescue those stolen bitcoins and return it to victims.

You can know about a latest biggest hack ever in cryptocurrency history, $1.4B on Bybit exchange with a security hole of Safe multisig wallet provider. It's really hard for Bybit and Safe to get those stolen cryptocurrencies back.

Quite confuse with the story but if he contacted a great technician and someone got expertise in recovering assets then it might be recovered but if its a hacked then there must be a police related since their gonna contact and find the culprit. But if they complained on a bank or finance firm then what they can do with that. Its crypto theit not held liable for that.

As other forum members already pointed out, if that happened, it is likely that Bitcoin would end up in some kind of centralized exchange or centralized service, from where they could recover their lost funds with the help of authorities. As you know, blockchain transactions are irreversible, and they cannot be recovered once you send them and get blockchain confirmations.

When people tell their story to others, they should tell the whole story. This is not the first time we hearing incomplete stories. These stories makes people confused just like how you were confused.

If your friend has been able to reclaim their bitcoins by financial, judicial and related agencies, as friends have said, bitcoins have been transferred to a currency exchange that has been approved by your country and has been able to do so through legal procedures.

But ...

 The first thing the hackers are trained is to hide themselves and their footsteps, so transferring bitcoins to currency exchanges, especially concentrated and identifying exchanges from a professional hacker, is unlikely to be unlikely.
Digital currency hackers are aware of the traces of the transfer and try to clear or complicate these traces by performing several different acts, so it is unlikely to do this hack from a profession.
As a result, either your friend does not tell you the whole story or magnify you, or that he  has been ignorant of security, has led to his own bitcoin account and another ordinary person has used this position.

99.99% of something like this that you see online are scam. They will ask you to pay money for them to help you recover the lost bitcoin but they only want you to pay and scam you also. If you want your coin to be recovered, it might not be recovered but you can contact an analytic company for it.

Unfortunately if you sent your Bitcoin to the wallet of hacker then there's nothing you can do about it since for sure those scammers are fast to transfer your funds until you cannot locate it. They are smart that's why they are repeating this schemes then try to catch another victim again.

So maybe what's best for your case is to learn from your experience and move on. Also its hassle to report this issue to authorities and it seems there's nothing gonna happen if government struggle to track that scammer.

Also don't try to pay asset recovery since most likely you might get scam again.

If such theft was done on a centralized crypto exchange, then the chances of you recovering your funds is high, most especially if you fire a proper complaint and could prove that the Bitcoin was stolen from your wallet to theirs. But if that Bitcoin was transferred from one non custodial wallets to another, then the chances of you recovering that lost Bitcoin is very low, most especially if that individual didn't transfer that Bitcoin to an exchange that is KYC verified, but used a mixer or decentralized Bitcoin wallets to make it untraceable on the Bitcoin blockchain, which is literally what most scammers does. Because it's literally impossible for anybody to hack your Bitcoin wallet if you never either knowingly or unknowingly gave them clue by either clicking on an unknown link.

You can file your report to the exchange and even police but I am sure you will have to wait for their support. It firstly needs time and secondly risk of failure. Even KYC is applied on most centralized exchanges, scammers can use fake KYC documents that will make investigation process more complicated with as said risk of failure.

Even if scammers are arrested, it doesn't mean you will certainly receive your money back. Avoid being scammed is best, and if you were scammed already, don't hope too high of getting money back. Chance to get it back is very small, and I don't exaggerate this risk.

Wake up and don't let anyone deceive you of the right information needed, bitcoin lost cannot be recovered and there's nothing like recovery service, all are scam, the same way bitcoin transaction once confirmed cannot be reverse, you can't recover any lost bitcoin back except you got it back from the recipient himself and in case of the lost ones on wrong address, they are gone for life and being redistributed back to the network.

You got it completely wrong. Losing Bitcoin to scammers does not make any changes. Losing Bitcoin to hackers or scammers is not a gift to everyone. Satoshi said it in another instance. For example, if you lose your Bitcoin by sending it to the wrong or dormant address or burn it somehow. In such cases, the Bitcoin cannot be recovered and is considered a donation to everyone.

Can we consider Satoshi's holdings as donations to everyone? As far as we know, he has held almost a million Bitcoins, and none have moved. The addresses are dormant; probably, he died, and no one can ever access his wallet. So, is it a donation to everyone?

Losing your Bitcoin to hackers is more like the end of the road to your Bitcoin because retrieving it back or recovering it  is seemingly impossible so careful cross checking your addresses before carrying out a transaction is very important

The only possible way to recover like that is: the law enforcement agencies find the hacker, detain him and either he somehow agrees to give out his keys, either they find his wallet keys in the computer (or other things) they seize, hence finding the tx history AND having the means to send the coins back.

So find the hacker, find the wallet keys and find the coins in the wallet... I find it an incredibly unlikely situation and I agree with @Charles-Tim: this smells like advertising of some scammy "recovery services" that will just get the gullible one pay them money.
