Depends on how much forgotten it is. I mean it's fully forgotten, then we are talking about someone who is doing pretty much a normal situation and that is not really that big of a deal, we need to realize that is a normal situation without a doubt. I get that we are going to end up with something that takes a while, but that doesn't mean that we are going to see a good result at all, we should be considering how things could change over course of long time and people could feel fresh.

So basically, if nobody remembers, then rebaranding means basically a brand new project for people and in that case it could work. But even one people remembering it means that it's going to end up as "this failed before, so may fail again" fear.

Rebranding requires big promotion and a lot of money. Sometimes it is more simple to create a new project and start to promote it then to rebrand the old and forgotten one.

exactly what most of developers has been doing, abandoning old project and create new one because it's simpler.

for example is the case of FTM to Sonic, on the process of rebranding they diluted the coin and there's long running campaign where they allocated big chunk of coin to attract new users and to let the world know that they have rebranded themselves, but we're still seeing whether it will works or not, so far, they've been gaining new users though.

Speaking about projects that goes back to life then it could really happen into this market space and good news for those who havent been given up into that project on which we know that it will really be that devastative when you do invest on a presale on a certain project and ending up on being dead because of mismanagement or having no community support and popularity. We do know that a project could die immediately and wont really be able to touch up those exchange platforms on which tons or thousands of projects being dumped down. This is why it will really be that situational if it gets rebranded at the moment that the developers had come back and resume on what they had started. There are situations like this on which it could be having that revival of a certain project.

I've heard people say quite a number of times that they don't like exchanges listing this or that, are they not exchanges? See, the more the coins/tokens listed, the more patronage and activities on their website and more money for them. A million people who were loyal to Binance, for instance, had to open accounts with Bybit, Bitget, Mexc etc just because Binance didn't list the crypto project they wanted. And if they are used to the platform, they may even forget Binance or drastically reduce their activity on the platform. So listing more is business to them and it's left to us on the crypto project we want to choose from.

As for the subject matter itself, yes, rebranding and "upgrades" can attract more patronage and the way people view and appreciate the project.

If only they knew that there are people like us that feel bad when they still see them there but now that we realized the problem, the immediate solution for it is to just avoid checking them there or put a blocker on those websites. Anyway, I remember checking my projects on some tracking websites before and I see that some coins are still fluctuating and actually rises a lot. Matic and Fantom have done well after they rebranded but they already had very large market caps when it happened. For more obscure coins, a rebrand might only be good enough to pump the price for a short while but it will go back down once the hype has faded. These airdrop coins on Bitget are complete shitcoins. Exchangers doesnt really that care whether they would be delisting or still that remains on a certain exchange. The moment that exchangers will be making out such delisting is on the time that they would really be that freeing up some space but if they do still have tons of space then they would really be just that letting it sit. They dont really care on what those investors would really be feeling out and you cant be able to force them on delisting out a certain project because you've been hurting up yourself at the time that you would eb able to see it. Therefore, it would really be just that up to you whether you should be that just ignoring out that exchange and wont really be looking back into your holding so that you wont be putting up yourself on getting up that being hurt.  I do agree into some points above that recovery will really be happening into those projects if its get rebranded and having that new team that making up such possibility or being that getting alive but of course not all will really be that successful on reviving on which it will really be that still depending. I love how people's views on exchanges can flip depending on what they do. They've had some sketchy moments with listings and rules but I've got to give them props when they do cool stuff like helping out long term holders. Seeing $AB go from the Newton Project to where it is now makes me feel good about how tough blockchain stuff can be. No clue if it'll hit BTC or ETH levels but it is awesome it's still kicking. Yes! You can rebrand and resurrect a forgotten project. The project can refresh the vision, update the tech, re-engage the community. A typical example is Ethereum or Gitcoin (formerly a small experiment). They rebranded and found new success. It’s not really about changing logos lol, it would take genuine dedication, innovation and the willingness to listen to the community. If a rebrand is done well, it can be a great push for a major comeback.

I don't think it could gain traction anymore with what it has unless that "rebranding" would bring something else to the table. We have seen so many projects that dilution in the market is so much for something to reach the level of the leading top coins. It's hard to achieve.

A rebranding that results in a new project may be successful, but it certainly won't reach the top coin level, depending on whether or not new investors start to come in to fund the project.
Without new investors and great marketing, there will be no revival on long-abandoned projects.

I have had many projects in the past that I participated in and then the projects were abandoned due to the problem of insufficient project financing funds and no development was made,
it is common and some developers will not resurrect dead Projects but they choose to create projects with new names and innovations that are more needed at the moment.

But when the OP said that the project he is participating in is expected to reach the level of BTC and ETH it will indeed not be possible,
let alone the top coins, to surpass popular altcoins such as SOLANA, BNB etc certainly will not be able to do so easily.

I understand where you coming from, but saying that they will reach the levels of BTC and ETH or any other altcoins for that matter is just absurd, just to be honest. I think the altcoin market is already saturated and everything is based on hype.

So if this project has rebranded, then I doubt that it will create the hype that it needed. It's good that you still have it and maybe got some good money out it. But for me if you have mad money already, it might be better to just take the profits.
