Few altcoins are better in few thing compared to Bitcoin, but Bitcoin have a combination that most all altcoins don't have and it's the strength of Bitcoin.

So far, altcoins are treated for trading purposes to make money. There are no altcoins that could challenge Bitcoin anyway. The value of a cryptocurrency depends on acceptance, where Bitcoin is accepted worldwide but altcoins are not.

Talking to Ethereum, it seems to have become a shitcoin, though I am an Ethereum holder. If I get good profits, I will definitely sell my Ethereum. It's been a long time since I have been suffering after buying Ethereum. The team of Ethereum became kind of stupid and isn't focusing on development anymore.

Considering security and decentralisation issues, Bitcoin is still on top. Others are still shit. So definitely not; any other altcoins can't be treated the same as Bitcoin anytime soon. Even I don't trust in the future that any alts can be treated like Bitcoin.

Right now, I'm thinking quite the opposite, can Bitcoin be a threat to alt coins? What I mean is, if for any reason there's any situation that leads to a great effect on Bitcoin, can altcoins survive it? Bitcoin is like a father to other alt coins and those altcoins can not stand as a threat to it but rather Bitcoin can be a threat to them all because if Bitcoin gets affected, they all will face a great impact too like a disease.

Over the time, I've observed that Bitcoin have oftentimes controlled the prices of other altcoins, when bitcoin falls in price, it has a way of driving the prices of other altcoins down too which is even what we're facing currently. As Bitcoin falls below 90k, it has equally affected the prices of altcoins such as Ethereum, Sui, XRP among others. It didn't affect SOL as much but there are times it has also shown effect to that. For sure, whenever Bitcoin hits a significant shortfall it affects other coins significantly too.

Not sure about the future but for sure Bitcoin will be the leader always, also all other points are valid within your post except the limited supply, there are almost every project has very clear tokenomics and a limit of maximum supply, but we can say that Bitcoin has the best demand and supply distribution mechanism in the way of block rewards and control of the block reward system.

There are coins with even lower supply compared to Bitcoin but most of them are shitcoins or experimental coins only haha but sticking to the topic.

It can be said that bitcoin is the god of coins, so there is no way anyone can beat bitcoin. Like ETH when it was first created, it was predicted to overtake btc but in reality almost 16 years have passed btc is still in first place. Indeed BTC does not have innovation, there are altcoins that are better at updates and improvements. But as you explained, bitcoin has security, public trust, and of course with a limited supply.

Although bitcoin is slower and less scalable when compared to altcoins because Altcoins seek improvements in terms of both function and cheap transaction prices. However, Bitcoin will remain a rare asset for collectors, so the price is getting more expensive, the rarer it is. Because in reality so far the use of BTC has been to monitor public trust in the crypto world. When BTC goes down, almost all cryptos go down. BTC goes up, everything will follow. Altcoins have too many coins already to fight with then for them to fight with Bitcoin to become the top cryptocurrency. Before the altcoin is done winning the fight over other altcoins, Bitcoin has already increased and given them alot of space to try and catch up. Bitcoin is leading the cryptocurrency market and no altcoins has what it will take for them to over shine Bitcoin. Any altcoins needs to be twice as good as Bitcoin is before people will invest in it as they are investing in Bitcoin for the altcoins to get more purpose than Bitcoin and it will be very difficult. Altcoins should not market itself as a competition to Bitcoin or it will fail as others that tried the same strategy had failed already. Bitcoin is the only threat to itself because of how fast it is growing.

It's not going to happen this cycle, but we, as the ones who were in the space long enough, need to watch out and never say something can't happen just because or because of X (a fact so engrained that it's like a holy truth or something).

It is true that anything can happen and nothing lasts forever, everything will be replaced over time, especially when technology is developing rapidly. But as you can see, 16 years have passed and many altcoins have also challenged, claiming to be bitcoin killers. But where are they now as bitcoin grows and becomes globally popular?
It's been 16 years and no altcoin has come close to threatening bitcoin's throne, there's no reason that will happen in the next 16 years let alone this cycle.


I'm not a bitcoin maximalist, I welcome innovation and I also believe that at some point things better than bitcoin will come along. But I don't think that will happen anytime soon and at least for the next few decades, bitcoin will still dominate the crypto industry.

I have being giving this question a thought for days now, if other altcoins can be a threat to bitcoin especially ethereum which some folks are saying is a threat to bitcoin, and I came to understand that, the reason why other altcoins can never be a threat to bitcoin is that, bitcoin being the first and largest cryptocurrency has survived external attacks and attempted ban from government, which no altcoin has face such attack, because bitcoin has already paved way for them.

bitcoin has also overcome many social and political trials, which those trials almost led to the shut down of bitcoin, yet bitcoin  gain more attention and adoption, which no altcoin has gained such attention and adoption, not even ethereum which some folks out there are saying is a threat to bitcoin.

Bitcoin has already dominated the crypto space, because it has always remained active and accessible without interruption, and to my own best of knowledge I don't think if companies like Facebook, Microsoft and Google have achieved this level of reliability which bitcoin has achieved so far, talk more of altcoins.

In fact, a lot may have not known cryptocurrency today but they already heard about bitcoin. That’s how making impact bitcoin is. And if ever in the future, its current position will be replaced by a newly more secured and more reliable coin, bitcoin will still belong to the top coins. But for now, bitcoin is still irreplaceable, even in the future if there are no better cryptos coming that would beat the potentials of bitcoin.

Right. Right. You dont have to be a Bitcoin maximalist to understand the undeniable facts. You dont have to be a hardcore Bitcoin fan to see that it has some real staying power.  I think of it like a popular video game thats been around for ages.  Tons of folks play it and are familiar with it.  Maybe someday a fancier game will get more buzz, but its not like the old favorite just vanishes into thin air.

the altcoins even just being put into one category "altcoin" because their market share is pretty irrelevant compared to bitcoin if not being clumped together.
basically the scenario where bitcoin getting overtaken by some random altcoin is very unlikely.

just see bitcoin ETF, selling like a hot cake where altcoin ETF are just massive failure with streaks of daily outflow. other altcoins haven't yet become a threat toward bitcoin.

Indeed, the gap between bitcoin and altcoins is too big. No need to dive into use cases, technology, or real-world applications. Just looking at bitcoin's market dominance and capitalization compared to altcoins, it's not hard to see how bitcoin is superior. Or even, no altcoin dares to claim or challenge bitcoin's dominance, all have to bow down to it. But it is puzzling that there are still some investors who are so ignorant that they do not realize that and make unnecessary comparisons between bitcoin and altcoins.

Bitcoin have always been threat to altcoins rather. Bitcoin always been leading the market and whenever it price goes up, the price of altcoins increase to and whenever the price of bitcoin falls. Many altcoins tries so much to survive the market when the price falls, Bitcoin is far ahead of this coins and shouldn't be compare with any of them, altcoins are looking up t bitcoin in the market when the price increase, and when the price of bitcoin decrease some altcoins crash.

What do you really want to prove? And to who actually?

Well, it has been proven times without number and obvious that none altcoins is ready to compete or overthrown bitcoin in whatever aspect you can think of but you can't stop people from believing what they want to believe in.

What I know is that when it comes to conveniency, altcoins sometimes serve better but the problem remains reliability. They're not absolutely reliable and does not possess any form of threat to bitcoin.

Maybe we are going to witness ethereum downfall before BTC downfall as we are seeing already.

That is why even some government is trying to make Bitcoin down, but because they don't have the power, they are still strong and they can never achieve their goal, since the don't have access to it.
