Indeed, Bitcoin is still slower - less scalable when compared to altcoins, but overall (security - public trust - limited supply) Bitcoin is unbeatable, I am sure that even for decades to come, Bitcoin will continue to be the king of cryptocurrencies until something crazier is found - more helpful (new things) to humans than Bitcoin (although the percentage is small).
even though bitcoin is less scalable compared to some altcoins, we cannot deny that bitcoin is more trustworthy than all altcoins. it is decentralized, much more secure, and its limited supply makes it a digital currency that is worthy of being called the king of cryptocurrencies.... and no altcoin will be able to compete with it or even be a threat to it.

Can other altcoins be a threat to bitcoin. Simple answer and the long answer is NO big NO for now and ever why because bitcoin alone is the important key of crypto, it is decentralize,d hard to mine and now there are lot of people and organization that have tied with bitcoin itself. ETH is the biggest altcoin today with the marketcap of 252 Billion USD and the marketcap of Bitcoin alone is 1.6 Trillion USD can you just imagine that and the total of marketcap of crypto is 2.8 Trillion the half of it just in bitcoin from there you will know that there will be no altcoin gonna threat bitcoin But it's decentralized system and resilience like an honey badger.
The true king that can't be dethroned

1 thing about life that is constant is change, that is the first point to establish. Years before now the idea of crypto didn’t exist until change happened. In this case of crypto space i think BTC has already established its place for a long long time, All references are drawn to it and drawn from it. Its a trademark, The other thing to take note is substantial change can only come when enough background work and I think ETH could be on the list if we’re looking out for threats as it has a large market cap and its also quite stable. It will be difficult to overthrown but life has no limits

True. Bitcoin will always be the number one coin even though altcoins are born with advanced features. People say SOL is faster and cheaper, but if in the end it is only for a pull project, what's the point? While on Ethereum, ETH has DeFi, NFT, Layer 2, and a solid ecosystem. But so far Bitcoin's dominance has always been unbeatable, even the price of all altcoins always follows Bitcoin's movement. Bitcoin's dominance will increase, that's for sure. Because Bitcoin is a safe haven while altcoins are uncertain when market performance is weak, all investors flock back to BTC as a safe haven.

If you have experienced BTC network and ETH network, you will agree with me that ETH is not a threat to BTC the first and largest cryptocurrency, BTC will continue to be the king among other cryptocurrencies because teams behind BTC are stronger than the teams behind ETH. If BTC can pump to this current price we saw recently, ETH will not going to be a threat to BTC because when you see the price of BTC pumping in the bull run other altcoins price will be struggling to pump little.
You can still do more research to know that ETH or other altcoins will not be a threat to BTC, invest in BTC and hodl with confident because it will open your eyes to see that BTC is more profitable than other altcoins.

You can’t replace Bitcoin; every other cryptocurrency trying to compete has failed to achieve what Bitcoin has. Despite their faster transaction speeds, none of them have taken the lead. The truth is, it's not just about low transaction fees—being decentralized is what truly sets Bitcoin apart and gives it the advantage in the crypto space today.
The answer to your question is a straightforward no: nothing can replicate what Bitcoin has achieved. This is why it is better suited for reserve use than any other cryptocurrency. No other utility surpasses the benefits of decentralization and open-source technology.
We have come this far in the crypto space thanks to Bitcoin. It is more secure due to its proof-of-work (PoW) mechanism and its decentralized nature. Many other projects claim to provide full transparency, but in reality, they are centralized both in structure and purpose, with developers primarily focused on making money.

I have being giving this question a thought for days now, if other altcoins can be a threat to bitcoin especially ethereum which some folks are saying is a threat to bitcoin, and I came to understand that, the reason why other altcoins can never be a threat to bitcoin is that, bitcoin being the first and largest cryptocurrency has survived external attacks and attempted ban from government, which no altcoin has face such attack, because bitcoin has already paved way for them.
bitcoin has also overcome many social and political trials, which those trials almost led to the shut down of bitcoin, yet bitcoin gain more attention and adoption, which no altcoin has gained such attention and adoption, not even ethereum which some folks out there are saying is a threat to bitcoin.
Bitcoin has already dominated the crypto space, because it has always remained active and accessible without interruption, and to my own best of knowledge I don't think if companies like Facebook, Microsoft and Google have achieved this level of reliability which bitcoin has achieved so far, talk more of altcoins.
And I we also like to see more contributions from members of this forum, let prove to some folks out there that altcoins can never be a threat to bitcoin, because alot of folks out there are saying that ethereum will be the end and the down fall of bitcoin, which I doubt.
Who's saying altcoins are a threat to Bitcoin? Newbies? They need to do their own research before spreading FUD. There's no way altcoins will become a threat to Bitcoin. First off, most altcoins are centralized. And second, they're not as big as BTC in terms of liquidity, trading volume, and merchant acceptance. Bitcoin is the one cryptocurrency that started this craze, so don't count on altcoins replacing it anytime soon. Without Bitcoin, none of the altcoins we know and love today would exist. Even some of them are direct copies (clones) of Bitcoin. Ethereum tried to make something new and "better" than Bitcoin, but it ultimately failed as it sacrificed decentralization in favor of cost-efficiency and high-performance (through the switch to PoS). There's a reason why altcoins are named "altcoins" (as in alternative coins). Bitcoin will remain "King" forever. So deal with it. I'll see you on "Mars".

They are mostly altcoin founders, developers and influencers. Newbies as investors, traders, speculators are only parts of the game and they don't control those games. I don't believe newbies say it mostly, but founders, developers are key players of altcoin scam games and manipulations. Newbies are more likely late comers and victims in altcoin games. Without Bitcoin, none of the altcoins we know and love today would exist. Even some of them are direct copies (clones) of Bitcoin. Let's say, altcoins like Bitcoin forks are scam ones, and they failed. History already tested Bitcoin forks and many of them wanted to say they are "Bitcoin killers". Bitcoin with time so far does not die but those "Bitcoin killer" altcoins died. How many cryptocurrencies failed? How Many Bitcoin Forks Are There? You will be surprised!!!

Perhaps there is no need to prove it because it has been known since before that altcoins can't beat Bitcoin no matter what. Whatever happens in the market, it was not because other coins had pumped, but it was just a normal market change. Occasionally, the price trend changes due to changing demand, but this does not mean that a coin beats Bitcoin. If there is one coin that will be able to still stand even during the worst situation, that is possibly Bitcoin. Bitcoin will still dominate the market forever.

even though bitcoin is less scalable compared to some altcoins, we cannot deny that bitcoin is more trustworthy than all altcoins. it is decentralized, much more secure, and its limited supply makes it a digital currency that is worthy of being called the king of cryptocurrencies.... and no altcoin will be able to compete with it or even be a threat to it.
Bitcoin is even more than just being called a digital gold. I think it has outgrown that title. Bitcoin is just Bitcoin, and the king of all digital assets. Its limited supply makes it unique, and the decentralised nature also makes more people have trust in it since it can't be controlled by anyone. It's not like gold, which its price currently is being affected by and increased by dollar devaluation. Bitcoin price and value are driven by demand.

Among all things first, let talk about the limited supply of bitcoin, I wonder how many altcoins has such limited supply and then it's less risky to begin with than any altcoin anyone can compare. With it's decentralized feature that places the responsibility and security of your funds in the owners hands away from centralized control, it just builds people's confidence and trust and with the level of individual and institutional adoptions it could only take a miracle coin to get bitcoin off the vanguard.

People have been asking this question for over 15 years and millions have lost their money investing in altcoins, hoping one would surpass Bitcoin. Right now Bitcoin has no real competitor. Maybe in the future a better coin will come up but there is no competition at the moment. As for Ethereum, we warned people many times but there were huge Ethereum fans and they defend their coin but in the end they were all disappointed. Never trust any centralized coin. Comparing them to Bitcoin is absurd.

You need to know that creating a coin with a limited supply is not that difficult and there are even ways to reduce the supply of a coin if they really want to . So I wouldn't put the "supply" criteria first and consider it the differentiating factor. I think the decentralized nature and use cases of bitcoin are the top factors that make bitcoin special from the rest. Bitcoin was not created to benefit any particular individual or organization, it was created for everyone. Meanwhile, most altcoins are created solely for speculative purposes, focusing on enriching the people / groups of people who created it. So as long as altcoins continue on that path, no altcoin will be able to compare or threaten bitcoin.

Many other coins do have supply and it may be even smaller than BTC's, but it's controlled and manipulated by the appropriate teams of said coins - and that is what differs them.

Altcoins as a threat to Bitcoin? Unlikely. Bitcoin has already secured its position as the dominant, most resilient digital asset. It survived bans, political attacks, and countless challenges, proving its value beyond speculation. No altcoin has come close to that level of decentralization and security. That said, competition isn’t a threat—it’s evolution. Ethereum, Solana, and others offer different use cases, but none challenge Bitcoin’s role as the ultimate store of value. If anything, they complement the ecosystem rather than replace it. So, is Bitcoin at risk? Not really. But will altcoins continue to innovate and push new narratives? Absolutely. 🚀

Great words. Other coins exist not to block BTC or destroy it, but to fulfill their own targets and agendas. BTC still remains the king.

It has never been a threat to bitcoin at all because the strength of bitcoin is far better to be surpassed by any altcoin that exists today. Bitcoin is one of the best so far and generally the presence of bitcoin actually has an effect on the sustainability of crypto so that in any capacity altcioin does not have the ability to be a serious threat. If it weren't for bitcoin maybe cryptocurrency would not be as big as it is now even though some people see the potential for profit in altcoins, but what makes this industry bigger is the presence of bitcoin as one of the best coins ever.

Well, founders/developers are completely out of their mind. How can an altcoin beat the original project? Without Bitcoin's source code, they wouldn't exist today. They're based on Bitcoin's core Blockchain model one way or another. Obviously, most altcoin developers will praise their project as the "next big thing" to help attract investors. It's all about the money. They'd be foolish not to do so. Funny thing is that most developers expose their identity to the public to make them believe the project is legit. But this brings many undesired consequences. Governments can easily hunt down developers or even force them to satisfy their demands at will. With centralization at the helm, most altcoins simply fail in the long run. It's no wonder why Bitcoin is still "King". And I hope it stays that way forever. Ah, yes. Bitcoin-based forks don't stand a chance. But I'm talking about new altcoins copying Bitcoin's code under a completely different name/brand. Altcoins that are complete clones of Bitcoin with a few minor tweaks. All in an attempt to cash out from foolish investors. They're not a threat, but rather a complement to Bitcoin. The more there are, the better for BTC (lower network congestion and less complexity). At least we know, Bitcoin will outlive most overhyped "shitcoins".

Altcoins don't really appear as a threat to Bitcoin and comparing them to Bitcoin over and over again is a waste of time. Normally, these altcoins are smaller and weaker compared to Bitcoin and prior to dominating Bitcoin, altcoins are coming up with newer innovative technologies that could attract them more and more users thereby threatening the value of Bitcoin and that's to show how competitive they're coming after Bitcoin. However,Bitcoin's dominance is deeply rooted in its decentralized nature and market capitalization that's bigger than all other altcoins which makes it widely accepted by all.

Many other coins do have supply and it may be even smaller than BTC's, but it's controlled and manipulated by the appropriate teams of said coins - and that is what differs them. Bitcoin is still the largest and most popular currency in the cryptocurrency market and is becoming more attractive to users than any other altcoin due to its security track record and global acceptance. In the case of altcoins these groups almost always scam. They do well in the beginning but later they run away and investors suffer. They have no effect on bitcoin which is why bitcoin is gaining more credibility than altcoins.
