No current altcoin will get close to Bitcoin. I said "currently" because I can't be sure of what the future holds. Among all the coins right now, none will ever be relatively close to Bitcoin in any way. I'm not saying this because I'm biased towards Bitcoin, but it's what the facts show. Definitely not ETH that is underperforming and becoming shit by the day.

I do not think that even in the future that any altcoins can be closed to Bitcoin. Already many people have tried to copy Bitcoin but falled not because they did not do a better job but because the people did not embrace the new altcoins as they did to Bitcoin. Bitcoin has made people to trust it with all their life because they know that Bitcoin is different from the rest of the other cryptocurrency. Bitcoin does not have a face and because the altcoins keep having someone that the government can be targeting to bring down the project, they will not be as Independent as Bitcoin is. Altcoins that are being launched are not better than Bitcoin currently, alot of them are very Inferior in everything and not just the technology but the branding too.

And I we also like to see more contributions from members of this forum, let prove to some folks out there that altcoins can never be a threat to bitcoin, because alot of folks out there are saying that ethereum will be the end and the down fall of bitcoin, which I doubt.

I think we should stop comparing bitcoin to altcoins because bitcoin is special and will continue to dominate the market. It was not because it was the first crypto created, but because of its usefulness and the benefits we get. Which I believe was far enough to think that altcoins can beat it.

If some people don't believe this, it was their opinion and personal market views. Of course, we never expect everyone to have that kind of positivity, especially those who don't know about bitcoin yet, because these people are the ones who spread negativity.

Among all things first, let talk about the limited supply of bitcoin, I wonder how many altcoins has such limited supply and then it's less risky to begin with than any altcoin anyone can compare. With it's decentralized feature that places the responsibility and security of your funds in the owners hands away from centralized control, it just builds people's confidence and trust and with the level of individual and institutional adoptions it could only take a miracle coin to get bitcoin off the vanguard.

This is more than a decade now since bitcoin came into existence, and until now no any other coin has surpassed bitcoin and has always stands out for its decentralized features which no any other altcoins can be compared to it. It was well faced a lot of challenges while growing but that doesn’t stop it from achieving its main and fundamental purpose of invention. It will take years from now to see a coin that can stand at least close to bitcoin, Ethereum tried and seriously they failed and I can’t imagine any coin coming close to how far Ethereum has come to even come close to competing with bitcoin. So the answer to OP’s question is NO and this won’t even call for any discussions further to deliberate on.

Over this long period a lot of things has been taken over by events that either leads to it faded away or in a way, losing their top-flight as it were. But bitcoin has been able to establish itself beyond all criticism and dooms predictions. Ethereum  isn't anywhere close to bitcoin except that it's the only altcoin that's doing better than it's contemporaries earning it the second coin popularly talked about after bitcoin. It's POS even made things worse for Eth which I think is one huge mistake to have been taken by it's developers.

I have being giving this question a thought for days now, if other altcoins can be a threat to bitcoin especially ethereum which some folks are saying is a threat to bitcoin, and I came to understand that, the reason why other altcoins can never be a threat to bitcoin is that, bitcoin being the first and largest cryptocurrency has survived external attacks and attempted ban from government, which no altcoin has face such attack, because bitcoin has already paved way for them.

Op bitcoin is not threatened by any altcoin, for you to say bitcoin is threatened by any coin it means the coin is equivalent to more than half of bitcoin current price probably close to bitcoin, then the battle of becoming the most valuable crypto can be drawn. But since there is no coin that's close to 50% of bitcoin worth, all cryptocurrency are very far from comparing  or seeing them as threat. Ethereum which you mentioned is no where close to the price of bitcoin irrespective of how long it has existed in the market,  that shows that it'll be difficult  for a project to pump out of no where to stand as a threat to bitcoin. Aside price of project the reputation of bitcoin is far greater than any altcoin or shitcoin in the market.

They were all given birth to through bitcoin and this is one of the reasons why i don't think they will surpass Bitcoin because no matter the strategy they want to use i don't think that they will ever be better than Bitcoins and altcoins have there own benefits to.

And reasons that if you look at profit that some people get in altcoin because sometimes the quantity you hold matters and also the kind of coin you are already because some coins don't have a good reputation to even withstand what ever wave of attack that the market brings because its not all altcoins that will give you profit so when make choice of investment you have to make it very quick. BTC has been stable for all of these years. Stable in a manner that they don't have to worry about too much volatility. It's within in already but looking at that is an advantage that they don't realize.

And those who always think that end up on the wrong path; some of them end up lucky, making large profits from altcoins. Why do most of them always end up losing the little they have invested? Altcoins are for short-term investments and are not to be held for the long term. Even for the short time, it's too risky for you to invest in them without keeping a close look. Hmmm well, here pop in my mind that what makes Bitcoin different than all other cryptocurrencies?. its truly decentralized nature. Altcoins are barely completely decentralized, even if their developers say. Let's us supposed an example of ETH  it used to have a PoW consensus mechanism before, which made people think that it was decentralized, but then they changed it to PoS, and that makes it clear that it is not Even Bitcoin had forks, so many of them, but the original chain is still there, and that is the main reason why it's considered to be so secure and safe because even if forks are done, it doesn't change the total supply or make any changes in the main chain.

So if people understand this well than for sure they will stop comparing Bitcoin with altcoins. Of course. But most people don't understand this. They believe everything's decentralized, when in fact, it's not. Altcoin developers usually use the term "decentralization" to help attract investors into their projects. But at the end of the day, altcoins are no different than centralized Fiat currencies. At least most of them. We can see how so-called DEXs (decentralized exchanges) and "De-Fi" (decentralized finance) platforms are often hosted on centralized servers with publicly-known developers/founders. They become easy targets for the government.

Truly-decentralized crypto projects like Bitcoin are a rarity these days. If this keeps up, BTC will remain the only decentralized cryptocurrency in the world. Yes bitcoin has a better branding and credibility as it is the oldest and its network is the strongest. In addition bitcoin’s strong security measures and its distributed nature make it a safe and reliable choice for many users and investors. Altcoins such as shitcoins or very new projects have not yet achieved the popularity or security of bitcoin. Often the technology or plans of these altcoins are at a somewhat rudimentary level and some people are interested in buying them just for the hype or short term profit. The market value and credibility of many altcoins cannot be compared to bitcoin.

A lot of development teams found that cryptocurrency can be profitable hence why many of them started launching projects even if the project doesn't really mean anything. The difference with bitcoin and new altcoins being launched is that bitcoin was made for innovation but altcoins nowadays are being made for profit. They do not care what the project ends up being as long as it brings them profit. They are not thinking about how the society can actually use it. They just want you to invest in it.

Bitcoin is always better than any altcoin at any time because it has also been proven for years that Bitcoin can provide much more profit to its holders who are patient enough. While for altcoins that are sometimes still vulnerable to being delisted by the exchange, they always contain much greater risks, although I also do not rule out the profits that can be obtained through altcoins for those who know how to use them early. Bitcoin has never been sluggish. What gave you that postulation of Bitcoin becoming outdated, don't you check around and see countries that are beginning to align with Bitcoin rights, some reserves and made payment options even how countries are on the verge of making Bitcoin legal tender. If you really think Ethereum will be better than Bitcoin in the future, just reconsider and checkmate that Ethereum price movements are linked to Bitcoin, since they are correlated, Bitcoin has what it takes to affect the price whenever.
