I've heard the phrase "making a living in gambling," but I don't know if there are actually people here who have pulled it off. So, this thread is me asking, are there any users who can prove that it's possible to make a living from gambling?

I'm talking about gambling that's not purely based on luck. I'm sure you're aware of games where skill plays a role like poker and especially sports betting, which is pretty popular.

Is anyone here doing this long-term? If so, I'd love to hear your insights because I'm interested in following this path.

Risk is rarely mentioned, but it is of essential importance. People hope for big wins while betting very little. Big stakes bring big wins, and that’s how some people can "live" off gambling, but that’s a very small percentage. Honestly, i don’t know anyone who lives off gambling, but i do know people who have won a lot of money playing casino games. You mentioned poker and sports betting, and i agree that you need skill, good timing, and that luck isn’t always decisive, but it's always good to have it. From my experience with betting on matches, i can say that you can earn money, but not live off it. Years of following football/basketball games have helped me analyze upcoming matches more easily, and thus earn, sometimes more, sometimes less—again, it depends on the stakes. As for poker, i had a friend who earned money playing it, but even though he had very good skills, he also knew how to lose a lot. So, all in all, luck has to be on your side.

It would have been better if you created a poll for this so in case there are those who voted that they are making a living in gambling, we can check the posts here and see how they are making a living in gambling, and of course we will ask for proofs and screenshots of their betting history.
I have not encountered any of our members who have made a living in gambling so far, and I don't think I can.
You can only do so if you are the casino operator, but as a player, its just wishful thinking.

I don't have anything to prove because I haven't been successful on gamble, just a few times (I guess) that have won some reasonable amount of money which I was happy for, but the amount to say "making a living from gamble" I haven't.
IMO, making a living from gamble is kind of winning a reasonable amount from gamble daily, weekly and monthly but it's hard to see anyone who's actively winning a good amount from gamble. Moreover overheard someone says when he was concentrating on gamble (like following up headlines) he was making money through gamble, but still do not believe because there's no evidence to prove what he says.

You will never make a living out of slots or dice unless you win at the table or the casino.

I have a distant friend, (a relative of a friend) who was in his younger days a poker player with some sort of a career, not incredibly big but enough that he has a cozy life now, his page shows about $2.5 million in tournament winnings and as far as I know he spent about 1 million on that on the travel, accommodation, all other expenses related and generated by it as well as taxes.

I have 3 tipsters I followed who have for 7 years always ended in green at the end of the season, so theoretically following them you would have never lost money, with enough bankroll you could have won enough to make a living out of it.
I can't really brag about since the sums are small in comparison with the volume spent, but again for the last 5 years I've always ended in green with horses, this year being also not different, but! in order to make a living here (Europe) out of those results I would have needed looking to my history to increase my bets by 10-25x and have a disposable bankroll of at least 50k at any day, and I am not going to risk that.

"Way of living" doesn't mean only one way (only gamble and you will be covered for everything) but one of the ways that you can earn for living additionally and yes, it's possible. You can check the web, and you will find stories of people who "live" by gambling. However, none of them do it long-term or don't invest their earnings in safer income options. Because gambling can be a way of living but not THE way.

Making a living with gambling is actually possible as an extra source of income, and not the major source. Because if you are the consider it as a major source of income, it's truth that you may not last, or neither go bankrupt in the process. And as such, what I understand about "making a living with gambling" is when a gambler thoroughly analyze and tries as much as possible to limit his/her level of risk on each game been wagered on.

While secondly, another process I have observed most people make a living through gambling is by "Referral Program", whereby you invite people through your link to a particular casino and you earn a commission whenever they gamble. Which happens to be one of the most common methods been used by Telegram Channels who offers daily football or Basketball predictions.

If you're interested in following this path you have to understand that it is a path that comes with a lot of pressure because depending on gambling as a way to make a living will mean that you will always have to be on your toes and gamble very often to increase your chances of winning. It is certainly not a comfortable way to live life, and there are many options that you could be into, many other more sure ways to make money than gambling even if you are sure of your skills.

Yes if only you are careful and follow some advice betting platforms give. When ever you login to any gambling site the first thing you will see is gamble responsible and it must be with what you can lose. Greedy people easily end up losing in gambling. How can you stake 20 games at once, are you the one playing those  games. We know at times games are not predictable example, Nottingham forest vs Manchester City today, the game ended in favour of Nottingham but there are still other little options one can still win on it like corners and  so on. Anybody that want to make a living from gambling should practice the principle of rollover with small odd and with what you can lose

In another thread discussing a topic like this, I once told you that I have an uncle who can still make money from gambling, he is a very good chess player and in my city there is a special place for chess lovers who often bet money there, even though sometimes he loses, his winning percentage is quite large. only skill-based gambling can be used as a job.

little oot, There are also some jobs that are related to gambling but don't really involve gambling, namely streamers. If you have a lot of loyal followers, then working with a gambling site will have a mutually beneficial effect in the long term and quite a lot of gambling streamers make money from it.

Are those who make a living at gambling very professional? I think so maybe only a few gambling games they are good at or skill-based games.

But I myself am not sure if they can survive? It's hard to deal with losing streaks especially in large amounts they won't last long.

Not me but I have heard of stories of people who made a living out of games like what you mentioned: poker and other card games. Usually they are now all old and retired so it’s safe to say they did do it for long term. However, for them to make a living not every penny they bet on is from themselves. There would be watchers who would back them up and that’s where they take profit from.

I am guessing you are asking because you are interested in doing the same thing. You should try if you have enough experience and knowledge and skill set but prepare for the risks involved.

The word fulltime gambler has been in the public space for a long time. But it doubts people are living strictly on gambling. People who have won big on gambling can decide to stop working and focus on gambling. But they would have to manage their funds well to avoid going bankrupt.  Without having a full or part-time job, gamblers might end up in want because wins are not always guaranteed. I know some people who see gambling as a full-time job, and one similarity they have is they are poor.

I'm sure that even if you looked here with binoculars, you would find a person who would have a hard time making a living by gambling.
Gambling is only for entertainment. I can start with an example here: if you buy a ticket to enter a park or go for a walk, the park authorities will not pay you anything for your visit. Rather than they will take money from you because for entering in the park. So gambling is something like that where you have to place betting where they will cut money from your pocket and if your luck with you then you good also win money.

All I know is that there are rich men that love gambling but I do not think gambling is their source of wealth. They have businesses.

Also there are people that are lucky that won huge amount of money at once. Also I have heard of people that won money in gambling and become successful but later gambling took all the money from them and they became broke again.

What I believe in is that if you are lucky in life, be careful of gambling. Do not think gambling can help in making money.

I have heard about gambling as a way to make a living but I am not sure that it is really justified considering that gambling is just a place for rich people to have fun.
In my language, gambling is not a place to try one's luck even though there are types of games that can rely on skill.
Sometimes someone who has skill in one type of game does not always win every time he plays it.
In sportsbook gambling for example, let alone playing parlay, single bets can still be lost. Poker and the like can also be lost.

Making a living from gambling is not a path any intelligent person would follow. Someone can't be making a living from what they are not sure of when their payroll would come. Is it not when you are sure you will have a pay cheque of this amount, you can think of depending on them for a living. But that's not the case of gambling. You gamble on it with low expectations. You win or lose, it's fine with you, no stress or too much thoughts about it.

That makes me to say, it's rare nowadays to see those who choose a step of making a living from gambling, no matter how bad their financial live is. They will prefer to choose other thing than gambling because doesn't give money but rather it takes from the one you have, making it hard for someone to depend on. Anyone who does that is pushing themselves into a financial crisis they can't even come out from.

If someone choose to use gambling as a source of income, the person is just looking for his or her downfall because they will face financial pressure that will lead to pressure in gambling, pressure to win, the more they go, the deeper it gets until they become so confused and disorganized.

Have you ever tried minimizing risk by betting on smaller odds with high stake daily on sport betting, there is very possibility of living good off gambling and it's going to worth it during the long run. Mind you, you gotta be selective in your pick and the appropriate bet option is over+  

Example, picking total of 1.50 odds staked with $10 using over1.5/2.5 options daily. Doing that daily especially in leagues with good score lines is the best you could do to living properly in gambling.

I don't think there are many long term gamblers out there. Yea some might claim to have been profitable through gambling, which to me sometimes it just a cooked up story. Gambling is risky, and if anyone is lucky he might have a good win that would change things for him on a long term. As for sport betting, I can tell you its possible since we bet on real life events and have a good edge unlike the casino games where the house are having more edges.

I'm really keen to know this -- why do you really wanna start off a long-term gambling plan? Do you really see it as a suitable investment for you or something?.

Cooked up for real. The day people start posting their loses and tickets as prove is the day I'll believe any infamous gambler that claims to be successful.
