Gambling shouldn't become priority instead of studies because students won't concentrate on exams & education. If their parents pay fees they shouldn't gamble because they know how important money's become in their life.

When gambling becomes their priority instead of studies that's a big problem, although they should not do gambling while studying, some people rely on gambling to study or afford tuition fee's that fact like in my country, where parents gamble their money to be able to afford tuition for their children, but there should be limit in doing this, since luck is not always in their side, they should not put all the money and have restriction or quota to avoid losing all their hard earn money.

This age of students is a very important time, the activities of this age will determine their future, but if they get addicted to a dangerous place like gambling at this age, it will affect them very negatively. We know how strong greed is in every child at this age, but at this time they have to control it in any way. They have to understand the real value of money and learn to use it in the right way, At this time they even may be not thinking that, How hardworking his family has worked to earn this money to pay his school fees, But they are wasting this money in places where they are becoming more addicted and facing more negative situations.

Why we have such young generation, that is so easy to distract or they dont focus on things? Imho its Facebook, Instagram and TikTok fault. They made youth be used to swiping and not concentrating on what they watch.

And for that reason children should now be encouraged to get into sports, music and activities that keep them busy It's the only way to keep them from straying from the right path, I have a cousin whose uncle didn't give any importance to that so she has Boyfriends and has a poor mentality Why? Because her parents didn't know how to take advantage of the energy they have now I have my son in soccer, and he's on the national team now, but why? Because their potential is huge.

Students at that age are easily influenced by their peers, the moment information on how to gamble goes round in the institution it's going to go through a lot of problem with trying to raise the students. Like you said, the overtime percentage would increase because more people would be engaged in it. The best way to curb gambling addiction is by reaching out to the young ones and make sure you tell them the dangers of it

Will you go to them one by one? Is it possible? I do not think it is possible better make social awareness, which will help all the community, including students. You are right but you can't entire eliminate anyone who wants to gamble from gambling or anyone who already had the spirits of gambling from not gambling, like I know during my teenage or when I was much younger than this I was prevented in all means got occupied and engaged with many works but today here I am now gambling without anyone even teaching me. What happened is that you can keep hiding things from children but when the right time comes they would certainly found themselves doing to those if they surely finds interest in doing that particular thing in life or if they are already linked and had that likeliness in them to gamble.

What happens is that today's children are too advanced they are at another level, I notice nothing more in my children, if I compare myself with them when I was little they make me see as if I were stupid they handle too much information and are not afraid of almost anything that is why they should know how to talk, of course when there is good training on the part of the parents they become more aware but even so it is delicate.

What you must know is that people aren't smart enough in those days compared to how they are being handled in school and thought. Today kids now have access to information than our days and then there are little fear and respect in us but today you can't even imagine it because they do access everything without respect and fear of anything, and if they founds out that they don't know that particular thing you would see them googling it online to have a thorough information and knowledge towards those things now.

It's very easy for students to prioritize gambling over their studies especially when they see their age mates winning money, in contemporary times that we live in people put a high value on money over everything else so even the youths are affected by this mindset. Indeed but there are young kids who got involved into gambling in their early stage so instead of focusing with their studies they think that they can make an easy access to earn, most of the time those who experienced some decent wins are the one who got engage deeply and they find themselves getting addicted using the money that intend to use for their education but the sad thing was, they use it to gamble and lose it and ruined their educations.

We are made to understand that if we can train our children well and force them to follow the right path, they will grow up never to depart of that right path we have made them to follow and walk through.

And no matter the preventive measures, laws and regulations adopted by the authorities, there'll always be people who would ignore those regulations and still end up getting addicted.

This is something very familiar in our life nowadays. Almost everyday, we see children under 10 who use smartphone easily. Many of them play the games for hours, they even can do it all day if there is no limitation. The serious part of this, they become addicted to the games. They easily angry when the parents ask the smartphone. It is because they only think about the games. I can't imagine if they play gambling games. That's why under age is forbidden to join gambling sites.

Agree. Parents must be very careful to educate children about ethics, morals, or decency. Children should also do activities that are suitable with their ages. If something can bring negative impacts, parents must forbid the children. Knowing gambling isn't something proper for children. It must be for adult people. As a parent, I also never tells anything about gambling to children.

Not that easy for a student that understands the reason behind having to go through school for some education. I tell you this because, the end goal of many learning process has always been having to earn money through acquired knowledge and this is what gambling offers although, you find people loosing even more but, it offers that immediate money if you can get your predictions right which could be very compelling.

Students who understands why they are in school and the need to study do understand the need to go through that process by trusting in it and what it could mean for them in the future. They know there isn’t much in short term gains which makes the them to this thread really subject to individuals and their decisions.

If a student is distracted in class and neglects his responsibilities, he will not do well in exams even if he is not attracted to gambling. On the other hand, if someone is attracted to gambling but pays attention in class and uses their time properly, they will achieve good results even though they are attracted to gambling. Here, gambling will not destroy a student's career, but rather, if he is inattentive and does not use his time properly, he will destroy himself.

I think that the issue of gambling regulations is one that government has taken enough action as there are laws guidelines and regulations about how gambling companies should be set up and even for gambler's so the issue of gambling addiction and abuse is a personal matter because if all gambler's follows the law down principles about gambling there will not be any abuse of gambling

For me it depends on the country we are in, because in mine the truth is they are not Interested , they are only interested in money and nothing else , that is why I do not believe in governments or their regulations, because I have my own experience , I do not know in the case of European or Northern countries where there is supposedly a better order , but based on what South America is , things are very liberal and almost Without interest.

You are right bud, absolutely right because it is exactly the same here in my country as well, there is a gambling acts in my country's constitution, that is laws guiding Gambling and casinos alike, but this laws are no enforced at all, if you come to Nigeria, the government are simply not interested in what ever happens in the gambling ecosystem because they feel they can't make money from it, all they care about is taxing local casinos and have physical offices in the country.

And because of their non interest in enforcing the law, most casinos are behaving the way they like towards their customers and so on, and even children can walk into a casino and place bets and the management of the casino will allow it because they need the money, even while the law bans under-aged gambling in the country, a law that is not enforced is as good as no law at all.

Left for me, I'll blame the greedy students who used their tuition fees to try generate more funds from an activity that success from it is derived by luck, that's foolishness and I think the school authorities should give students who does that some penalties so other would learn and such foolishness by students would reduce.

 Betting has an age bracket and anyone who meets the age for betting is allowed to, Including students just that every bettor should do it in a responsible way or else they'll face the consequences nobody should allow their greed ruin them just like the foolish student who risked his tuition fees.

It's easy for you to say that students shouldn't gamble if you are not in their shoes. First of all the peer pressure is something to consider and secondly the gambling centers are to be blamed if they are any where around the school environment. Most of these students get lured to gamble because they are seeing these centers around the school premises. People who set up these centers can do better to avoid this

It all depends on whether students gamble instead of entertainment, or instead of preparation time? Some may simply not play computer games, but prefer gambling instead, and then the time for preparing for exams will not change. And some may first play computer games, and then gamble. But in any case, I think that gambling is undesirable during studies.

But how taxing should be done then? I personally live in one of those Northern countries and i love free healthcare, free education, less corruption, workers rights, privacy rights and working infrastructure. Even though we have to fight every day to keep away the fascists that want to slowly undo all that. And i can't see any other way to achieve that then via taxing and strict regulations. And even if that all those regulations increases bureaucracy, it's worth it.

It's just a matter of debate what we should tax, and most of the people in here agree that anything that might increase health costs should be taxed. And sadly, while gambling addiction isn't a problem in majority, health issues and down spiral of people can affect negatively to our society in many ways. So we tax it like we tax unhealthy foods, tobacco and alcohol etc.

Obviously i would be also against regulations if my only experience of it would be corruption. And regions change slowly, it takes time (sometimes few generations) of new party leaders to fix corruption. Because it also requires attitude change in the population. When people can't trust officials, they teach their kids not to trust them, and those to their kids. It could be fixed with education system and by media, but it's a long road and doesn't happen over one election win, but by inclusivity and long term regulations.
