It is still an investment practice and they are still investors. It's just they start in a bear market and don't have too long vision for their investment and portfolio than a next bull market. Anyway there is nothing wrong with investment your money in Bitcoin and maintain it only within one market cycle.

How about those who focus only on spot trading, both in a bear and bullish market? They are just in for short-term profit; they buy and sell almost in an instant with little price change and take whatever profit they can get and reopen another trading position. Are they also considered to be investors? Or as long as you put in your money and time in return for profit, you are automatically an investor?

For those who have financial knowledge and are involved in the financial market, they will never call a trader an investor or vice versa. Because they know well that the approach and purpose in the market of these two groups are different but for those who are not involved in the financial market. They have a habit of calling everyone involved in the financial market an investor, they don't care what method you use to make a profit in the market.

Whether you are holding long term or waiting to get out or back in on day trading you're an investor in my books. I'd say the riskier of the two options is definitely day trading. It can be grueling especially if you start going down and it's surely not for the faint of heart!

Investing starts at buying bitcoin for me. Once you buy bitcoin and you intend to make profit from it then you have already invested. But if you bought bitcoin to use it for transactions then I do not think you can be called an investor.

Oxford Dictionary defines an investor as:

From the above definition, both Bitcoin traders and holders are investors. However, it is generally perceived in the Bitcoin space that those who keep Bitcoin for a long time are investors. These set of people don't need to always monitor Bitcoin prices daily. But traders have the intention of selling anytime the price favours them. They usually monitor the market almost everytime to check when they can buy or sell.

But bitcoin is also a financial market, and even that represents only a small fraction of the world market. It needs to follow the pre-established rules and definitions of the financial market, trying to change the concept or distort existing definitions will not change the fact that bitcoin is just a financial market. As long as people put money into bitcoin and the purpose is to make profit whether short term or long term, they are still bitcoin investors.

You have literally explained the difference between an investor and a trader in your thread, an investor buys and holds Bitcoin for a long time (for those that are using the long term strategy) most investors are not bothered about the market but only focused on their long term goals and make massive profit, on the other hand a trader buys and sells Bitcoin frequently within a shorter timeframe, unlike an investor that doesn't bother about the market, a trader is always monitoring the market price frequently and they make more transactions than an investor. I'd say that an investor is focused on long term gains while a trader is focused on short term gains or an investor is someone that buys things and hold and takes their time to decide when to sell it while a trader is someone that buys and sells things frequently.

traders indeed focuses only on short term gains which they look for the perfect time to enter the market and the perfect time to take profit but investors most of them don’t focus on that but they hold for long time but still their reason for investing is to make profit, but their duration to how long they will hold is only base on their own target.

Maybe you think, OP because there is a time that traders hold their coins, but it usually happens during a bear market. Unlike investors, they will hold for months or years waiting for the time to sell their coins. They just only focused on buying, holding, and selling. But traders just hold for a short time as they wait for a good opportunity to trade their coins. That is why we can say that traders are carrying pressure on their shoulders, as they need to be more active in the market than the life of an investor.

To me, investors are those who buy BTC, wait for some time (and depending on the amount of time, they are short-term, mid-term, or long-term investors), and then sell Bitcoin for profit or simply spend it directly on something. They can buy it all at once, in big bunches or in small regular amounts (DCA).

Why should you care about the opinion? when you can judge it according to your own preferences, people are also like that towards trading and investment, I would say in my opinion that Investment is someone who saves in the long term or more than one month while your trading can start from seconds to months, but in its own purpose it is different and that is what makes the core difference between trading and investment, namely in the spread of your intentions in making purchases, whether for investment or traders. Those people buying BTC and hodl for long time are investors, because they will not sell the BTC until the price hit higher to cause them double profit, and they know is only that long hodling can make their wish to turn to reality in the future. Investors don't buy today and sell BTC immediately, because they know they are not going to earn what will satisfy them than to hodl 2 or 3 years before they can sell to achieve massive profits from the long hodling.

Of course, traders are a type of investor because their money is involved. They invest or buy one of the coins using their own money. And try to sell them at higher prices. Since they first buy a coin with their own money, it is definitely an investment. But this is a short term investment. Holdings are long-term investments. And those who do trading make short term investments.  Both are investments.  Because investment is when someone uses his money somewhere for the purpose of profit. Have you ever heard of a long-term trader? Yes, there are traders who trade cycles and they are in for the long run. The difference is, a trader will always exit his position when it looks like bad times are coming. For instance, during the pandemic when stocks started crashing, long term traders would exit, which is why we had crashed so hard back then.

Op both short term and long term buy and sell of bitcoin are investors but sometimes we like to distinguish them by calling long-term holders investors while short term holders as trader, they are actually investors irrespective of the time duration of buying, holding and selling. The fact that you have bought bitcoin already  make you an enthusiast of bitcoin, which mean you have made some contribution to bitcoin, and you can be called a bitcoin investor as long as you're still holding the coin, but the moment you sell those coins, you've withdrawn yourself from the title investors, this is applicable  to both short and long term investors.

A Bitcoin investor is someone who holds on to his assets for long term or short term without selling instantly.
IMO, a trader is not an investor because they do not hold for long term. However sometimes the traders make profits and sometimes they don't because trading has a higher risk than investment. A new trader will find it very difficult to trade and make profits but a new Bitcoin investor can invest just the first day and understand how to keep on buying.
