Which country would you like to retire in?

Somewhere warm and some good food to enjoy like Thailand where our BTC will be worth a hundred times more than living in my country.  It doesn't make sense to live somewhere where my money will be worth less otherwise I'd suffer the consequences sooner.

However it wouldn't be good to see death in a foreign land though. I'd still wanted to go back and buried in the plot where my family are buried.

Lots of people always like to travel to another place. Could be they are bored with their current one or they have a bad memory with it. For me, I'm away with my child hood place, so I also like to return there later down the road. Old age is where we retire, so indeed that having enough fund can be helpful to continue living but I think for many oldies, they can appreciate simple things which is great as this extends their available wealth.

Despite the height of economic instability in Africa I will still love to retire in my dear country Nigeria, enjoy my retirement benefits with my people and get a befitting burial when my time is up. If I must leave in other continent it should be now I am much younger and when my productivity level reduces I quitely return home and enjoy the rest of my life.

In my old age, I would like to retire in a peaceful serene environment like Canada. My reasons are that it has universal healthcare that takes care of visiting citizens and permanent citizens. Everyone is treated equally medically and otherwise

My other reasons are Canada has a low cost of living and a low crime rate. Canada is a friendly and welcoming country. It doesn't take time for retirer to build connections and to engage with their community members. That will make my old age to be enjoying and feel more alive, like being loved by everyone.

An interesting choice and request. Canada is one of the most expensive countries and private hospitals are very expensive.
I even remember some cartoons making fun of the health system. I guess you don't know much about Canada, neither do I, but these are the things I know superficially, so Canada would never be my choice.
I think I would prefer European countries, they are still somewhat not bad in terms of retirement system.

In my old age, I don't think I will like to stay far away from my country of birth during retirement, I have my childhood friends, my family, my neighborhood and everything about me is here in my country and I don't think I can throw all that away and travel to another country for retirement, regardless of the chaos, economy problems and some times insecurities, I still love my country and no country is perfect free from chaos and insecurities, but what I want to do now that I'm young is to travel the world and meet new people with different cultures, I want to make as much money as I can now and enjoy my retirement in my country.

If I had to choose, I would go for Portugal. Not because it's a trendy expat paradise or because of the tax advantages (though, certainly, those help), but because the country's pace fits. It neither stifles you under hidden hierarchies as Japan would nor drives you into forced output like the US. This is a pretty cool question, one in which I think will be lead by at least a perceived notion of ones economic outlook or "scale".  For me as an American, I know it's not the USA.  I think it's laughable when people say it's the greatest country on earth, especially right now, but I've always felt this way.  I really respected independent nations such as Sweden, Norway, Denmark etc, but it seems those types of nations are becoming fewer and farther between.  Maybe somewhere like Malta.  Somewhere where the government has enough stronghold to make it safe, but not too much to make it a dictatorship or communist nation.

Doesn't make for me if i have to work or go out for greener pastures and think about retiring in the same country. Like what most of my country people do who move out of the country, they take part off their early ages to work in a well developed country, get a good pay, then save up for retirement in the same way they are also investing and reinvesting back in their local country. There should be plans to always live your old age in your own country, people who stay to earn foreign citizenship are those who have given up on their country's economy and want their lineage to live in a developed community.

To answer your question, my country is a good place to live after retirement. I fancy Nigeria, the foods and culture, freedom at some stages where you don't get taxed compared to a developed country.

I would like to retire in the rural area of any peaceful country. The best place would have been my country since I am used to the people, weather and others. But with the rate of insecurity, I have to reconsider my plans.

Part time remote jobs will be appropriate for me because I don't intend to stress myself. I might also consider starting a business. I would like a country with a low cost of living and economic stability. Security will be an added advantage to the business growth.

Because if you live your life in west and still retire there it make no sense, come home and relax with you old friends and chat the life you live abroad. It will serve as encouragement to the children and young people within you.

I would love to retire and spend my old age in my village, a quiet place sorounded by nature, get a property up the hill where I can have a view of the rich forest, i always feel very relaxed in the midst of friendly folks. But I need money to build my my dream house in my village and not struggle to do hard jobs inorder to survive. So I wouldn't mind traveling outside my country to make more money because the Nigerian economy is hard for the ordinary citizens. My friends who are in Europe, and America, are earning better incomes for doing the same type of work in my country. But wherever I travel to will be to get better opportunities to make more money, after I'm established, me and my wife have planned that we will retire and spend the rest of our lives in my village, she loves the environment.

If I am retiring in my village in Nigeria, then my source of income is not going to be in Naira, I must be sure to be earning in dollars or crypto all through of my life till death, it's very unfortunate to be counting Naira because the economy will certainly out pass the spending level and make the standard of living to be toxic.

No matter the amount in dollar or crypto you earned while in Nigeria, it's more profitable making life more easy to live.

Of course in a first world country, where goods for sale are of high quality, people are educated and polite, architecture is harmonic and there is a general sense of wellbeing. A principality isn't a bad idea too. I guess this is the closest to the concept of ideal we can reach. It just demands a lot of money to be inserted in such socities, so it might be just a daydream.

There are some possible cons as well, like foreigner threats of invasion and war, but in the end of the day I think the pros completely overcome the cons.

Currently, many countries are experiencing quite difficult economic conditions, causing uncertainty for the economy in the country. Moreover, currently in the country where I live, namely Indonesia, the prices of basic necessities are increasing while the minimum wage has not increased, causing an imbalance between income and expenses and not a few of them have to find additional income in order to meet their daily needs and also their families. And just for information, my country, Indonesia, is included in the list of countries with the lowest minimum wages in the world.

On the other hand, the difficulty of finding work is also one of the things that makes people increasingly wonder about the economic conditions of the country which are increasingly on the verge of uncertainty. so that currently in my country there is a phenomenon of "Just Running Away" where young people prefer to work abroad, even they want to settle there.
A rather unfortunate thing because young people should be able to contribute to the progress of the country's economy, because they are not properly accommodated and not facilitated, finally these talents run to other countries, and even not a few young talents from Indonesia who contribute greatly to the progress of development and innovation in other countries.

That's just a story about what happened in my country, some young people choose to work and even settle in other countries, while for me personally, if I have the opportunity I want to work in another country, but regarding retirement I will be in the place where I was born, the reason is maybe I love my homeland too much even though the government doesn't care about its people.

Of course, I’d love to retire in my own country. As long as I’m earning in dollars or have a business that can sustain my needs, staying here would be ideal. I just want a relaxed life, away from the fast-paced lifestyle because when we get older, peace of mind matters most.

I have relatives in the U.S. who also want to retire here, but their biggest concern is healthcare. That’s something our country should really improve. But when it comes to the community, it’s great here, plenty of beaches, nature, and a lively atmosphere.

I'm comparing where the best one to retire is, and this is what is on my mind.
First world = good health care and better services, plus retirement benefits.
Third world = cheaper things, but not all of them give the best service, so you have to pay them still. But with compensation and retirement, I think it's still affordable. I'm not sure yet where I should retire. What I am thinking now is to save for my retirement and I'll just think of it if I have sufficient funds for doing that. I want to retire in my own country, my motherland. Even if my motherland does not give me anything, I will not get the love and affection that I get in my motherland in any other country. Maybe if I retire in developed countries, I can live in peace and happiness there and enjoy its life, but the love and attraction for my motherland will remain for the rest of my life and will keep me attached to the love of my motherland for the rest of my life. So my personal opinion is that I will retire in my motherland.

Some countries have a low cost of living which can be a comfortable retirement also good healthcare is very important in retirement. A warm and pleasant climate a safe and peaceful environment are essential for retirement also there should be various facilities for enjoyment and entertainment in retirement. It's better to prepare ourselves retirement in our own country because we understand much better environmental conditions than looking for other countries. Concerns about the economy are challenges that we must prepare because to live a comfortable life when retiring must be well prepared. Retirement in other countries is not as easy as you imagine because we need to take care of a residence permit and not all countries accept new people because there are conditions given.

The country we choose cannot help achieve comfortable retirement because it has nothing to do, but how we can prepare it ourselves before the retirement arrives. If you are diligent in saving, investing and building a business, retirement in your own country is a much more ideal choice.
