The strategies that we have to follow are mostly easy, but the harder part is shown when we're about to purchase. There is no problem if we are long or short, but the problem is during the accumulation period. OP is actually talking about investment but the discussion can be for both. Both trading and investing need a good strategy for it to be profitable. As OP clearly stated even investment who are actually less risky than trading requires one to have a risk management strategy mapped on because without the right risk management plan you will actually invest amount which isn’t right for investment, with the proper strategy you can be able to make a plan of what to invest, what to set aside as emergency funds or funds for basic needs and such like that, it is with strategies like this that many people can hold on for very long time.
