Something funny happened to me today

I thought I chose Chelsea but I chose a different club.



I know the odds are very similar to what the odd would have been for the Chelsea versus Tottenham that has just been played. Chelsea won.

When the match ended, I checked my Stake.com account to see the little amount that I won but I did not see anything. I clicked on settled bet to know that I chose another league.

I laughed immediately. I can not say I am happy about it but I am neither sad and I am chilling right now and excited. Just a tiny amount of money.

I hope this will serve as a lesson to some people that can make this kind of mistake. The reason I brought it here.

Maybe I think you're in a hurry that is why you end up making the wrong selection because had it mean you take your time to check the game very well before placing it definitely you would have notice that you make the wrong selection, though you don't need to be blame for that and of course this happens to most gamblers. But for me I always take my time to go through those games which I predicted so as to check if there's any mistake somewhere, I'm not always in a hurry when doing that.

This kind of thing happens to almost all gamblers. If you created a thread asking how many times you thought you were betting on a certain team or value and actually did something different, you would be surprised at how many users would respond. We usually spend our days on so-called “autopilot”, we barely read the text, we just skim it quickly and believe we've seen enough.

Thank goodness the loss wasn't that big, otherwise you wouldn't say something funny happened…

The most important thing here and now is the outcome. The of your bet was, regardless that you selected the bet by mistake or were not even aware of how that error happened, is important that we know some mistakes also lead us to our winning and for sure I have seen a lot of times that such a mistaken bet produces the biggest winnings.

Luck is an essential thing and we as gamblers should always expect our luck to play out at any point in time this situation is one such time.

Like I have previously made a mistake in sports betting, which at the beginning of the match both teams scored should have chosen YES instead of choosing NO.
But the results showed that my bet won even though I considered this a mistake...sometimes mistakes bring luck. LOL
but it will be a mistake again to yourself by making a mistake and then losing the betting ticket. Maybe there will be a little anger.

I believe other members would learn a lesson from this thread, and as I see many members already have the same experience on their own, which means that this occurrence is common and as such should be treated with utmost sense of belonging because any mistake could cost a player their game which they never envisaged. OP was very lucky that it was not a big bet, and he never did it for profit but instead for fun. At the end, he burst into laughter because he couldn't believe he had made such a mistake and hadn't bothered to check it again before playing the game.  The lesson here is that we should do well to always cross-check games before finally placing a bet so we do not make any careless mistakes that could cost us our game when not properly done.

That's the good thing, his stake is not that big, however, I'm thinking that if you are going to bet huge, then maybe we will check everything first before putting our large bet. So it might be a different case if big money is involved.

But still, there are good lessons to be pick in this scenario. Lessons to all of us to really be meticulous and attentive on our bets. And most likely this has happened to us at some point making mistakes. But sometimes it's better to experience it though so that we can prevent it from happening again.

Haven't gotten any mistakes in making bets let alone getting the wrong match. Lol but this is certainly a lesson for all of us to be more careful.

Maybe you initially thought you were happy because you won the bet, but it turned out to be wrong.

Good thing you only bet a small amount, at least what you lose is nothing compared to others. However, it's still best to bet with presence of mind regardless of the amount. You are gambling, so the best way to get you entertained is to see your bet winning, but if you consistently make the same mistake, I suggest just take a break from gambling so you can avoid small but consistent losses.

@OP already stated that he was not in a hurry when he made that bet...

I was not in rush but I just learn about SRL today.

If I am not mistaken @OP stated that he got confused and chose the wrong league due to the same odd and he was not familiar with SRL at that time.

The good thing is that @OP only bets the amount he is very comfortable to lose so he can just laugh the mistake out without any remorse which every gambler should do when engaging in gambling.

You are not alone with this kind of mistake. It happened to me, too and not just once but twice. I think these mistakes are made when we are either too excited to bet or too used to what we do, so we do it all so fast that we don't even try to double-check it anymore. There's also a possibility that we are using two kinds of sports bookies and sometimes the home team goes on the left side while their opponents will be on the right contrary to the other sports bookies.

This mostly happens to me on over and under picks. There was also a time I was excited to see my wins, but sadly, I didn't win any because of that kind of mistake.

Probably he was in a hurry at that time to make a bet or possibly sleepy during that time. It happens to anyone like me where I want to place a bet immediately because the game will be started in a minute but after the end of the game, I noticed I placed my bet on the wrong team.

So, I think this is just a normal experience everyone would experience this if you are rushing something without double checking your bets.

At least you approached it in a positive way, managing to extract some humor from a mistake while others would be shaking with anger.

Situations like this are a great lesson for all of us, as we all make mistakes but we don't need to let them affect us negatively, especially if there were no significant losses involved. Instead of getting angry, we can learn from our mistakes and laugh about them.

I don't think I've ever made a mistake like this, I'm very cautious with my bets, but that doesn't mean I don't lose money... I guess I need to make some bad bets too to see if I get any luckier.

Oh my god, I’ve had a similar experience, though not with that amount. In my opinion, sometimes when we’re very familiar with something, we get too comfortable and forget to double-check our choices. It’s only afterward that we realize we’ve made a mistake. We’re just lucky if we still win despite those errors—like what happened to me when I saw my bet was wrong, and I kept blaming myself. But then it turned out to be a win, and I told myself, “Don’t do that again.” Still, it keeps happening, and some of those mistakes have led to really bad outcomes. LMAO.

Slow down and verify your bet before you click confirm or accept bet. Pretty sure most have done the same, most times you lose the bet and sometimes you have a happy accident, but can be avoided by just double checking before clicking to accept the bet.

Lol, is very funny sha. I think I have once been in such condition before, to be honest that very day was so annoing to me due to this similar mistake, even though my prediction was draw and the it just ended as I predict it. To my greatest surprised I don't know that I click on home win instead of draw, so as the game was playing draw I was very happy hoping that I would get a win today. It was when the game ended that I realized my mistake, so ever since then I normally do proper check before placing my bet because I don't want to withness such thing again. surely that is one of the mistakes in betting or gambling, that is why it is good to be careful and mindful in making prediction. and after making predictions there is also need to double or triple check it to be sure the game is the same as it where before staking money. although sometimes wrong decisions lands us to wining huge amount you cant tell, because if you have won this bet i guess your mistake would have been a miracle or would have turn to luck. all i know is that gambling is all about luck, so weather we are being too careful or not, we must surely win or lose since gambling is all about  luck.

What an honest mistake and I guess everyone had this fair share of experience for betting on the wrong league and team or club. I think it won't be a defeat for you OP if you have checked it once more before that match happens because for sure, you'd quickly pull that bet off and will bet on the right match. Although it will have some deductions for cancelling that bet but that's better than losing by honest mistake. Well, it might be funny but if the amount isn't that much, you'd just make it as a happy memory and everyone will also check their bets before closing down the tab or shutting down their desktops or laptops.

Such kinds of errors often do happen when we are at a certain stress level and instead of going to rest or sleep for a while, we avoid it and just try to distract ourselves with frivolous activities that may pose as a serious danger to us and to those around us as well.

Am glad you didn't lose a lot of money, otherwise as funny as it may be, you would have felt it more.
I often do advice gamblers to rest first and gamble later because after resting, the brain is sharper and this could greater improve your chances of winning big rewards on bets.

Hmm after reading it turns out that there are also many mistakes in making bets. Lol like it's not just me who experienced this, it turns out that other people are also the same.

 Obviously not all random bets will be lucky, there are times when they lose and this is a 50/50 chance of winning/losing.

Lesson? Of course as they say --- double check this bet if it is correct, don't let mistakes happen again in the future.
