If you are a single bitcoin investor, would you rather teach a trusted family member about Bitcoin than involve your personal lawyer. I ask this because I grew to understand that lawyers are good at handling confidential issues like Wills.
Difficult question to answer because being a blood relative or spouse doesn’t mean you are super trustworthy. Many people have been burnt through mistrust of family members. You should look into multisig, that method eliminates the threat of one rogue trustee.

To be honest, many lawyers do not obey their rules, so you have to be careful in choosing a lawyer that you trust as a bridge for your inheritance, but the best way to protect your inheritance, especially if you have a lot of BTC, is to entrust its validity to a lawyer rather than family because usually families will become greedy when dealing with money that has a large nominal value, there is a family of mine who once used the services of a lawyer as a bridge for their inheritance and my family wrote a statement that the lawyer was only a document keeper and inheritance intermediary so that the lawyer would not mess with the inheritance.

Bitcoin is not fiat that that you have in banks. Bitcoin is designed in a way that you do not need a lawyer. If properly done, bitcoin inheritance will not be a be problem. With bitcoin, you do not need to trust anyone, including your lawyer.
I don't think that there is any need or necessity to involve a lawyer about the custody of your Bitcoin, it is not a document that can be a subject of litigation and it is not related to a government certification. Also it is not necessary to keep it in the trust of any family members, it is your asset and you have the total custody over it. The only document that you hold as the owner of your Bitcoin is your seed phrase, whoever have an access to it can claim your Bitcoin, so who you choose to share it with should be your of own choice. Bitcoin is decentralized and it gives it's holders privacy and freedom to either hold it by themselves or share their seed phrase with whom they like.

I grow up in a home where looking out for my family is the first priority of every family member and trusting each with valuables isn't considered a difficult decision because you surely know that at the end, you're definitely going to get a return of what your values. Thanks to the norms and values of my family, I will easily entrust my private keys to my family than a lawyer regardless of my personal experience with the said lawyer

Again, it's the question of a family or a relative in question - can he be trusted or was he trusted with real situations / actions and so on. Some are not so lucky - and they look out for other options to fill out the gaps.

This is actually quite a good debate to have. I suppose, it all depends on the trust level between yourself and your family. If you can trust your family with your life, then you might have confidence in being able to trust them with your Bitcoin. Though I guess, there is no harm in both teaching family member(s) about Bitcoin and creating a contract to bind any agreement about custody? Or even simpler, multiple family members, and a multi-signature wallet?

I do think it depends on the acceptance of your family toward BTC, crypto in general, and to you overall. It's not that hard to teach your family about the basics that would be needed in the processes we discuss.

Emphasis on 'trust'. I see nothing wrong in teaching a trusted family member about Bitcoin and still employing the services of a lawyer to keep some private information for me, just for inheritance purposes. Teaching my family member about Bitcoin does not necessarily mean I must disclose my seed phrase. My family and those around me still need to know about Bitcoin and decide how they want to benefit from it. I can teach anyone about Bitcoin, but access to my bitcoins is what I will not handle carelessly.

The duty of Lawyer is to ensure wills are followed strictly, but leaving your bitcoin totally in the hands of a lawyer is entrusting it to a third party totally which is wrong, additionally leaving it in the hands of only a family member poses the risk of him taking all your funds when you are gone. A good option might be creating a multi-sig wallet, let the family member be part of it as well as your lawyer, that way the family member cannot take it all for themselves and the lawyer must ensure your will and distribution formula is strictly followed before he authorizes transaction. Multi sign seem to give the lawyer a participation still. What I would do if I am just going to give a way my coins to all the people I love, I would want them not to fight over something. Just divide it all before I would ever feel like I would die the next day. Divide the properties I have equally or I have a favorite, just leave it to the lawyer to explain. The properties are safe after all it a public data.

Who to trust: A lawyer or a family member.
If you cannot trust your family members then who else you can trust, especially about the Bitcoin assets that you have, lawyers are used to protect your bitcoin assets in writing and letters made based on legal law because this country is alivebased on applicable law. But you shouldn't trust Bitcoin to your lawyer, they can manipulate your letter after you are no longer in this world and your family certainly doesn't know that, for me Bitcoin assets can only be trusted in the family, no others.

I mentioned the lawyer as an addition to the suggested family members
A lawyer is more professional. They study this matter, so yeah that they are a good addition. In fact, it should also be prioritized. However, I think it also boils down to the amount. If the amount is only small then a lawyer may not be needed because they also don't come cheaply. I'd also like to add that it also depend on the attitude of our family member. They may not be trusted but we can always find a trusted lawyer. but just don't commit the important passkey solely into the hand of any of them. The best bet is to distribute the keys in pieces with at least two of them, and you have to ensure that they do not know each other. They can only meet when the investor is no more or in case of other eventualities.
In crypto, there is what we called multisig. This should do the job better than having a single pkey and then you just divide its characters to the parties involved. We can only hope that there is no corruption involved or something like each parties will agree to open the wallet even if it is not yet its maturity date.

I dont know on how Will works but, if we do just that simply have that folder with having those seed phrases/keys and the main instructions on how to access those coins then for sure its not that hard for those who do inherit that one or simply with your family. Then try to make it seal and sign that one and trying to make up some checks? Dont know on how it works but if you dont trust up your lawyer and whose in custody of that piece of folder then you wont be having any choice but to trust up only your family. I couldn't blame out someone why they do have that lack of trust into their family members on which this is actually situation on which you are needing to deal on with. We are thriving to accumulate Bitcoin as much as we can and this is for the sake of our family on which they are the ones will be benefiting it out in the first place. It is just that there are things on which that not needed up to be shared to have that not necessary access. We do know that once these keys are exposed then there are tendencies that it could be stolen or be spent up without the permission and this is mainly on what we dont really like into this kind of particular situation thats why we do have that hesitation on trusting them.

The truth is that, if you're a bitcoin investor, you are supposed to pass the knowledge of Bitcoin investment or bitcoin technologies to your family members, but save your seed phrase so that they will not know your seed phrase, because when they know your seed phrase there's every possibility of stealing your phrase unknowingly, so therefore keep your seed phrase in a secured place, for the aspect of a lawyer, instead of teaching your lawyer your business, you better teaches your family person.

If you can entrust other physical assets to your family, the value of which may exceed the value of your bitcoin investment - then why are you so worried about your bitcoin? I have no reason to distrust family - but I would seek full custody of it myself for the sake of asset security. Distrusting family members essentially just shortens the relationship between the two - but this may depend on the culture of each country.
Heirs have a right to a share of our property regardless of how they got it. I have no plans to involve a lawyer or notary to handle any of that - meaning, I trust my family completely even though the bitcoin custody is entirely mine.

Too much worry is one of the reasons here, even though when we have decided to have a commitment like with a partner and family, trust should be a big foundation that we must uphold so that in the end it does not cause problems in the future. I personally have the same view on this because even though in this case the risk is certainly still there, in the end if I do choose between a lawyer and family, then clearly I will choose family as the first option rather than a lawyer who is in fact a third party in this case. It does not mean that in this case I do not want to use the services of a lawyer, but in the end this is an option that is taken and I will clearly try to trust my own family more or now maybe my life partner because as I said, trust is the basic foundation for a family because if it does not exist, then why are you trying to have a family or someone close if in the end there is no trust between each other.

Some lawyers are good at handling confidential information; so are some family members. But everyone is not the same; even someone under oath can break an agreement and go for his or her selfish interests, and if you must trust anyone, it should not be based on what you think others have said about a particular set of people, lawyers or family members. That trust should be earned and merited and not just a random decision based on others analysis. And to be on the safer side, I will prefer to share either part of my holdings information with a family member and part of the information with my legal team, which will be the one to give direction to the family member on how to use the holdings; neither can have full access to it, as both parties will come to an agreement before anything can be done, and they will also not be able to know this themselves.

Yeah, this is definitely true based on many stories and real experiences. When it comes to managing your crypto or financial matters, trusting a professional like a lawyer is often a safer choice than relying on family members, no matter how close or trustworthy they may seem. It's better to secure your assets through proper legal channels than to take risks based purely on personal relationships.

Difficult question to answer because being a blood relative or spouse doesn’t mean you are super trustworthy. Many people have been burnt through mistrust of family members. You should look into multisig, that method eliminates the threat of one rogue trustee. Blood siblings can break up their relationships for property, and if the Seeds/Phases of the Bitcoin wallet are left between them, they may betray them at some point. It would not be right to trust your own wife in this case because someone can betray a relationship for the sake of Bitcoin.

There is no reason for me to doubt them and destroy a family's happiness that has lasted for generations just for a few bitcoins. After all, bitcoin is just money, it is not a god or a savior so don't let it cause discord in our family happiness or doubt those who are willing to sacrifice for us just because of it. Bitcoin is money and money is very important in life but it is not everything. As long as we work hard, earning bitcoins is not too difficult, but if we lose a loved one, I don't think it will be easy to find them again.

For me personally, the most appropriate choice as heirs is my wife and children, because I have been involved in the Bitcoin world since I was with them and they are the ones who have the right to receive it when I die. Because my wife will continue to struggle to raise and provide proper education for the children and also fulfill all their needs that I have to leave for them and also with the existence of a will when my wife remarries, my children will have full rights to my inheritance.
It's that simple, without having to involve a lawyer because choosing a trusted lawyer is not easy and also costs money. And there are also people who don't trust their family because they know what their family is like and there's nothing wrong with trusting because not everyone is the same and only we know our family and if we choose the right person I think it's okay and everything will be fine if we know everything well to determine the best choice.
