Programming or Coding?

Well for really long I haven't seen really technical talks on the local board anyways, are there any programmers or code writers here? Plus for those that may not understand, programming is actually different from coding and there are many reasons that depicts that actually. Nonetheless it mostly depends on the language you are most familiar with as some are not programming languages like HTML though it's one of the easiest not by being readable by a beginner but easy by syntax at least.

I don't think there are much of technical og's here on the local board. As far as I know just few Nigerians on the forum post on the technical boards. Probably they might be some coders or programmers of the forum but not much interest in bitcoin technicality. For me, I just understand few basics as regard bitcoin technicality and don't actually have much interest in learning more.

You are right Hatchy a lot of people in our local board really don't know about bitcoin technicality and that is why they usually don't post on the technical boards which is totally for bitcoin technicality however some people may still have a little experience which they will share for me I really don't have that much knowledge in programming and coding it's actually difficult and I have not seen any use for it right now maybe if I see very important use for it I will engage in it and expand my knowledge more on it.
Hopefully I will get into it one day.

I believe this thread will help create awareness about programming and coding in our local board and people who have experience will share there experience too there by making it interesting hopefully.

Everyone doesn't need to have technical knowledge on the board. The point is the number of Nigerians that venture technical discussions can be pin pointed to roughly 5 which isn't a good thing if you ask me. Aside from that we have others in economics but not full time Economists. Everyone has a strong suit but it mustn't be the same but less than 1% of technical discussions on the board is too lame if you ask me....

I had the ambition of pursuing a career in computer programming and I had actually started the process when I was in the university. I was aa little good in programming languages such as Visual Basic, Visual studio, a little of C++ and MatLab. I was able to build some solvers that could tackle any dimensional matrix by the Gausian Elimination method. I also wrote some programs that could solve some   mathematical models such as the Newton Ralphson method, Bisection method and other methods of finding the roots of equation through iteration. 

Unfortunately, I did not continue this part as Nigeria happened and I got employed in a company that has little to nothing to do with Engineering. I know if it were some part of the world, I would have had the motivation and support to continue because I was practically modelling different engineering systems to generate the energy and mass balance thereafter I write the program that will make it possible to vary the inputs to see the effect of changes in the parameters.

The most important thing is that we have Nigerians posting there, that's all that matters.

I am not a programmer. The reason I know some technical things about bitcoin is because I tried all my possible best to know how to make use of bitcoin without asking anyone for technical knowledge about it. Also this forum discussions really helped because I gained from what some people posted on this forum before.

Most of us are new to Bitcoin with about technical knowledge, Bitcoin might be the cause why we can even talk about little technical know-how how just like wallets, and some little knowledge on technicalities around Bitcoin. We can't know everything in both technical, economic, trading and speculations.

It is best we refrain from flooding the technical board with spam when we know nothing about the subject, instead anyone interested can begin the learning process gradually developing skills.

However, I have little knowledge of programming languages like, CSS, JavaScript and tips on React and Python, Yet I only contributed to technical discussions few times and they were worth it.

If you have much interest on technical discussions you can encourage others to do so only.

I know HTML coding to some extent, but I would not call it a programming language - it is mainly oriented towards the presentation of content, so it is more of a markup language, really, focused on structure and display rather than logic and computation. Its just for making stuff look a certain way on a page.

It wouldn't make much sense if a great deal of members post in mega threads only. Most of them are regarded as just spams and pointless posts since you end up repeating same thing over and over

Yeah schools have it as a general course but the thing is if you are good at math coding would be easier for you to grasp. I still remember tons of self made projects I did back when web design was just a hobby with little CSS and HTML. Funny how I had a couple of local hosts back then.

Nahh that's not true. Phyton helps c sharp helps C++ is super helpful. But without these you can still very well engage in technicals.. I've hardly seen Charles-Tim write codes either.

It's educative but I don't think this is the right board for this the technical discussion would be more appropriate, as a tech person that you are I'm sure you would interact with like-minds there..from the little experience I had with programming back in school I would say that the programming languages that would be easy for beginners to use are BASIC and python and these ones are really helpful compared to the one you mentioned which might be a little advanced to some people...A lot of people say that JavaScript is also easy to understand but I don't know about that.

One thing we need to understand is you don’t need to be a coder, programmer or say script writer to actually be involved in the technical part of bitcoin. The technical part of bitcoin is nothing other than understanding case core concepts of bitcoin network but writing codes are for developers. I can tell categorically that most of those members on the bitcoin technical board aren’t developers or have that depth knowledge on scripts.

I also find it that most people do not engage in technical discussions here but what I think is maybe they get there problems solved at the general board. I still think we can bring up technical discussions here related to bitcoin network, wallets setups and it likes so people can at least have basic knowledge of what they are dealing with, this doesn’t need you to be code writer to engage in

I believe that the basic knowledge of bitcoin technical aspect is what is needed for anyone to contribute on the technical board. However, many Nigerians don't rush into posting in technical boards because that's not their field in school and it will look strange to them especially those that don't like mathematics in school. One big challenge that we have is constant electricity, those foreigners have uninterrupted power supply which can make them run full nodes and have their own nodes and so on.

Programming and coding has been one of the skills I usually like but is unfortunate I'm neither of them but with the passion I have for it I will definitely acquire the skills, however I remember back days in school when we had this HTML as part of our final year course, though almost everything was taught on theory because there was no time for us do all the practical aspects of it but the lecturer just advise us to further enroll on more practical training if is the area we would like to develop ourselves, so from those days I had said to myself I must be a tech person but that hasn't been actualize yet, but I'm glad you are bringing this discussion here on our local board because tech is what I have seen we have not been discussing here, meanwhile I'm willing to learn somethings from the tech discussion here.

I actually was quite an active member in the technical board but slowly and I'm not active simply because at that time majority of the thread where often about Bitcoin core, which unfortunately I couldn't get answer to most question ask, even when researching simply because it is actually better to set up yours up in order to give a more valid answer and not give a questionable or wrong answer that would make it seems like one is spreading false information.

Now I just want to focus on learning other things outside the forum like cryptography and programming in general, refining my skill to be better and then coming back better.

I think there are few programmers or coders in our Lb but they might not have deep knowledge of the technical aspect of Bitcoin. Rather other areas, like being a web dev or software developer. I partially fall in this field but refining myself after putting this on hold for sometime now, anyway would be back and better soon. These are things I do really love.

Actually you don't need to be a really solid programmer in order to be good in the technical aspect of Bitcoin. This is the fact about programming, algorithm is more important than coding in any given language. Since I found out that and after study in computer science I understand the key part of programming is the algorithm, which deal with the how and a certain method should be use.

Getting the knowledge first is important before thinking about the code, in order to understand the how and know how to solve a given problem.

Posting in mega threads are not prohibited in the forum, and people have liberty to post in whatever threads they want. Myself I don't have knowledge about programming and coding, I struggle with that alot, so I can't post there. But in terms of my posting habit in this forum, I try to be as versatile as I can be. I post in mega threads especially in gambling in football thereads. I believe we have moderators all over the forum and any post considered as spam are deleted by moderators. Or if at some point we come across posts that we considered as spams, we can report such posts to moderators so they can be deleted.

Technical board is a place where most people in this local board already view as a place where the complex part of bitcoin is being discussed only. Maybe due to the mindset many approached it with, it makes them feel not too interested in discussions there. And since they’re familiar with the basics they need to know about owning some bitcoins, keeping them safe and also able to transfer them out at anytime, it solves the most complexity they can think of about it now. Does the technical board requires you to become a programmer or code writers before you can actively engage and understand better what is discussed there? Why did you ask?

This is not a bad idea and it will be a great one because many of us will have questions to ask and will be more comfortable asking here than the general technical board in the forum. There are still some basic stuffs I’m sure many do not still know about bitcoin network that is important for them. Newbies most especially will feel more welcomed to ask such questions here.

This topic as of yesterday came across my mind. As you can see from my profile all most merit i got was from the technical board. I have little knowledge on technical aspect, I picked the interest of learning cryptography after joining the forum. I am proud admitting my knowledge here and believe one day I will be able to assist in the development of the forum.

My expertise varies from design to development. With large knowledge on Product design, web development using no code tools like framer, webflow and WordPress. Perhaps someday we can work together.

I don’t think there are a lot of our community members that are keen on the technical aspects of bitcoin or blockchain technology. Although many Nigerians are into tech, most of us are into coding/programming. Tech is very broad, the tech members who introduce themselves on this thread are often freelancers, graphics designer, or website designer.
