Actually its not shocking on seeing these kind of words or sentiments on someone specially if they have invested into something and doesnt perform on what they've been expecting or simply on whats on their head. When frustration kicks in, then this is the time or moment that you do made out such sentiment about being overtaken or not. You do make yourself look like a clown when trying to say that SOL will overtake ETH on which considering on the current rankings then it wont be happening anytime soon, not unless if there would be some massive sell off on ETH just because of some very huge issue but cant be denied that SOL platform do have cheaper fees and fast transactions but cant be able to deny that smart contracts is much better i do say. It is just that ETH is that being always touted on having that very expensive fees that no other projects do able to overtake with that spot. It cant be dead on which it is currently sitting on #2 on the current market and remains always at the back of Bitcoin on #1 spot. We might be seeing that progress in SOL but everything will be that depending on market demand and recognition in the end of the day and thats why making up some conclusions will be that too hard. Somehow when it comes to probabilities then it could happen but just like been said that everything will be depending into those factors mentioned earlier.

Almost every crypto coin that was born after Bitcoin, is technically superior that Bitcoin in many aspects. But no one was able to dethrone Bitcoin at all. Same goes for ETH.

There's a term in the business word called "First mover advantage". Bitcoin and ETH are enjoying that status and it is highly unlikely for any other coin to take them over.

The best part of ETH is that, it has an active Dev team. So I don't see them getting de-throned from the second spot anytime soon. The volume may be higher in other blockchains, but from the pricing point, ETH is likely to hold its position.

Ethereum’s DeFi ecosystem is still much bigger. Even if Solana starts to get closer, the problem I see is that the big players are going to favor stablecoins and RWA’s over the native currency SOL, which will lead to a stagnant price like Ethereum.



Solana might have had a lot of success with memecoins, but these don’t bring long-lasting value. Most of them end in rug pulls and extraction of value from the chain. There is no better example than the Trump family memecoins. Solana is still struggling to recover from that mess.

Nah, it will never happen. Other alts might overtake it, but it will never become dead. SOL has a lot of potential. Lots of good projects are launching on SOL, but don’t forget, a lot of bad projects are also launching on SOL.

But it’s too early to say that ETH is dead or that SOL could replace ETH. There’s a lot of this kind of topic/post on X. For sure, others are just riding the trend. Some are SOL supporters, some are just creating FUD so they can buy at a lower price, and some are just creating pure BS because they want to see others panic. Just tripping.

It’s not dead but the underperformance this year has been shocking. Nearly all crypto is down quite significantly but Ethereum has been hit hard. I still think it will reach new all time highs later this year but it is not good for long term holders when the price is still below 2021 highs.

Ethereum, as much as I dislike it, is a very robust system. It's much more secured and hardened than Solana or any other altcoin.

The question about whether Ethereum is dead, is not really a question about whether another altcoin can surpass it, but rather a question of whether they are truly necessary.

Ethereum is not a currency, it's a development platform where developers can create smart contracts to tokenize our interaction on the internet.

For example, a smart contract can be used in gaming, where weapons can be limited and bought/sold between users without allowing the game to generate more weapons. Or identification could be tokenized for web platforms.

Now, if we all agreed that we need this kind of things in our lives, then Ethereum will not die and none of the existent altcoins can surpass it.

But, apparently it's not the time for building this kind of things and it's evident by the fact ETH/BTC goes down on the long-run.

Ethereum may lose some marketcapitalization and locked value within their Defi ecosystems/protocols as people realize and discover the advantages behind Solana and other coins which are way faster and more dynamic than Eth is.
Still, losing its position as the number two by market capitalization won't mean the coin is going to be dead or their volume will cease to exist.

Ethereum had such an important meaning to the cryptocurrency community that it won't ever disappear, even if there are not substantial changes in months or a couple of years.

Also, only because a Blockchain  is more suitable to issue memecoins, shitcoins and scammers feel more comfortable on there, does not mean the Blockchain is better than Ethereum.

Dead is overreaction, maybe it is not as great as it used to be, and that is understandable but it is such a huge altcoin (literally number one among altcoins), that even after having a terrible period it is still keeping its position.

There is a requirement for it to grow back which is having the ecosystem achieve something. Without that, there is really nothing we can do to make this comeback and because of that there is no way that we can see ETH recover right now. First there needs to be a trend, and then we also need that trend to be using ERC20 mostly. If that happens then we are going to see ETH recover and go back above 4k again, but until then we are not going to see that and we won't be getting any good results.

Well if you do hodl eth tokens it was a good day for you. In only last 24 hours it is now up more then 13 percent. Price for 1 eth token now is 1800.
There is now a increase in Ethereum users adoption rate. There is data from on-chain data platform IntoTheBlock that says it rose 40 percent last week.

That's certainly true, mate. Solana is quickly rising in market dominance, while ETH is being left behind in the dust. Part of this has to do with ETH's exhorbitant gas fees, compared to Solana. Ultra-low fees and blazing-fast speeds, makes Solana the perfect platform for "meme" coins. The only downside is that this opens the door for scams.

Launching new "shitcoins" on Solana becomes an easy task these days. It's why many people have fallen for rugpulls on Solana's popular Pump.fun "meme" coin trading platform. Ethereum developers better rollout network upgrades focused on decreasing gas fees, or it will be the end of ETH for good. You can see ETH's popularity/demand is declining, because it's still far behind its last-recorded ATH of $4,890 per coin. If you held ETH since 2021's ATH until now, you'd be in a huge loss. Not even spot ETFs have saved it. I wouldn't say that ETH's "dead" but rather "dormant" as trading activity is still on-going (not to mention TVL is still at its highest). Only time will tell us if ETH will be able to survive the pressure from its competitors. Here's hoping for the best.

Ethereum is Ethereum. Its not going anywhere. Its been the second behind bitcoin for years and the top altcoin for ages. Its gonna remind that way

ETH has been in the space for such a long time already and being the first mover in smart contracts and DeFi it has its good share of supporters.
SOL is definitely taking a good chunk of ETH userbase but it doesn't mean ETH will be dead.
While SOL does have its pros, ETH is still a reliable choice but it will have to deal with scalability if it wants to retain its spot.
Otherwise other coins like SOL will take its place ETH will just remain another altcoin.

If we compare these two altcoins to a car, then ETH can be said to be like a Mercedes S-Class while SOL is like a BYD Seal. One has been the "king of altcoins" for years, the other is a new kid who is seriously catching up and starting to get the attention of investors.

Solana has cutting-edge technology with speed, efficiency, cheap transactions, and is very innovative. Still considered "new" by some traders, but is growing rapidly and starting to become a serious threat to ETH. While ETH is strong, and has been proven for years. ETH is also trusted for big things like DeFi projects, big NFTs, and institutions. Solid technology but high costs (expensive gas fees), sometimes it feels slow but safe.

So with the advantages that each of these altcoins has, there is a possibility that SOL can beat ETH in the top altcoin rankings because SOL has the fastest and cheapest transactions. Something new that is faster and cheaper will beat the more expensive and slow. But this does not make ETH dead, Eth has survived for years so to say it is dead is difficult to happen in the near future. Moreover, as you said, ETH rose about 12% yesterday while Bitcoin also experienced an increase.

Every network suffers congestion as the number of users increase, Eth network is slow due to high transactions. Solana is fresh with quick growth and great speed, but it'll probably slow down at a booming rate of transactions.

ETH is already in a big position in the crypto world and in terms of market cap and ecosystem, ETH is in a very good position and a large number of Eth and ETH chains are still in use. Many new chains have come into the market using EVM or Ethereum Virtual Machine technology. So even though the price of ETH is gradually decreasing, the popularity for it has not decreased yet. SOL certainly has a good market share at the moment. And it is getting a lot of traction. But it will take a lot more time to surpass ETH. It may never do so again.
