The problem is that these crypto influencers make money from advertisements and the amount of followers they have. In most cases, people tend to follow influencers that have proven evidence of their success in the crypto space. Sadly one of the ways of proving how successful you are is by showing off expensive belongings. A crypto trader would have to show how he made big money from trading.

The only way to be safe is to reduce showcasing their worth on the internet. They shouldn't try to convince people to accept or invest in the crypto industry by showing off. Andreas Antonopoulos doesn't need to tell you how much he had made to gain followership. They should just inform and guide people and stop all these needless showcases of wealth because they are risking their lives and that of their family members.

I've seen people who post good quality and educational contents on YouTube and they do this without putting their faces or personal information online. So, yes you can be an influencer and not compromise your privacy. However, for some crypto personalities, based on their positions, it's hard to conceal their identity from the public. For instance the ledger co-founder that got kidnapped. Occupying such sensitive position means he's the face of the company. He gets to give press briefings, grant interviews etc, so his involvement in crypto is public knowledge and as such the only way to stay safe is for him and his family to live in a place where there's maximum security.

I believe kidnapping occurs in most counties, and we just have to be security conscious, kidnappers don’t  target only crypto holders, as long as you are financially good, then you are already a target to the criminals, they are after money, they don’t care if you are holding bitcoin or fiat currency, what they want is money. so we just have to be very careful, we shouldn’t flaunt our money anyhow, we have to stay low.

If you are a crypto influencer, then what I will recommend is that don’t allow people know the amount that you worth, don’t disclose the amount that the coins that you are holding worth, if you are planning to teach anyone about crypto, then make sure you don’t use your main wallet to explain to them, and you have to be security conscious, you will have to be careful with places you go.

I'd stay anonymous, too.  For safety, I keep a small canister of pepper spray/tear gas in a hidden but easily accessible area of every room in my house.  That way, if anything happens, no matter where I am, one will be handy.  I can get to them in less than a second.  Pepper spray in these small canisters is legal in my country and provides a non-lethal way to incapacitate an aggressive attacker and get to safety.  I haven't needed to use one yet, but I'm glad they are available.  Readily accessible pepper spray is not an option for people with children.

You pointed out key problem Bitcoin is meant to keep people identities secret but if anyone want to be Bitcoin influencer and be known it is tricky. You are right that people often think anyone involved with Bitcoin is rich. So if this become public Bitcoin figure people might see that person wealthy which can be dangerous. Getting your personal information leaked is big worry and can really put their safety at risk.

Don't be too vulgar in getting involved in bitcoin investment because we cannot guarantee how the security measures will work. Some people don't realize this and generally show off their assets on social media or to their friends and in conditions like this we can't guarantee what other people will do to us. Kidnappings like this can be a source of reference that other people do not need to know the amount of bitcoin assets we have so it can be much safer.

Investing in bitcoin is independent and does not require a third party so being involved anonymously is much better. We can never predict the crimes that will occur but we can avoid it and the method is anonymous so that other people don't need to know our involvement in bitcoin investments.

It doesn't promote anonymity, and the way most people use Bitcoin, it actually doesn't even promote privacy. I'm an example, I use the same address for all my sig payments, so everyone absolutely can identify me just from my address.

Use an exchange or an app for your BTC? Guess what, they KYC you and can track all your payments and savings just from your single address. Anyone can do this too, they'll even know your exchange.

Its a great tool but sadly most of us don't use it the way its meant to be. Most services don't allow us to use it the way its meant to be.

Such influencers would be hated by government and centralized institutions. Instead of trying to be safe, if someone did that, they open a can of worms, even they use pseudonym or didn't reveal their identity.

If the influencers gone viral, I'm sure they will be targeted by the centralized institutions.

Another thing, influencers make money not only by ads and views, they make money from endorsement, 99.9% of endorsement came from centralized institutions.

There's no such thing about perfect security on which just like on what you have said that everything will really be that having probability that you might be that targeted out by those criminals whenever they have seen up such opportunity that they can get from you. If you are an influencer and you are also a crypto investor or holder and that being significant then it will be just that common sense that trying to show off will definitely be giving out that kind of risks that you might be that being abducted using up with a $5 wrench and this is indeed could happen. So it will be that up to you whether you do want to have that exposure or telling someone or tons of people that you are holding tons then you do know on what would next. So if you are an influencer and wanting to focus into this career then you should be making up some exemptions and not to give out any information on how much you do hold but if you are somewhat being boastful then it will be that up to your own choice.
