The issue of physical safety for BTC or cryptocurrency hodlers has been debated many times on the forum, and following several kidnappings of crypto influencers' relatives in France (but these kidnappings obviously also occur in other countries), how can btc influencers ensure their safety and that of their loved ones?
How can they both have visibility AND ensure their safety?
This is a tough one because I feel like if people are physically watching you from afar it makes it a lot easier for them to sneak up if youre unaware. If they are also watching your phone or tap into that somehow and watch your activity this only becomes even scarier. I feel like having adequate home and neighborhood security as well as using a VPN and all the proper online safeguards. I would also higher a professional body guard if it were me and also make sure I had a gun on me as well you added an important point too be alert about what are the things you check on your phone in public, avoid talking about cryptocurrency and bitcoin in public places and avoid checking your phones most of the people don't care at all about what you doing in the streets but it takes only one bad actor to ruin your live, specially if you don't have proper security systems in place

In fact, if you create a big image in society, your neighbors will be a little jealous of you. That is through Bitcoin or through any other business. Here, safety is completely on you. You have to move safely in your own movements. That means not going out alone. Another thing is that you cannot show off too much. Because showing off creates enemies. Another thing is to live life normally.

that's why in my opinion it makes no sense to show off and buy expensive things that add to popularity but don't add wealth expensive watches and cars will only draw attention to you and mean nothing in terms of wealth, you can have expensive cars that are rented and be in the negative on your accounts I understand the appeal but personally I think they do more harm than good to personal safety

Protection comes when you maximize your privacy. Most of these so called influencers don't even hold more than 1BTC but the make the loudest noise couple with lies and fake lifestyle just to prove something that doesn't need any prove. If you are holding Bitcoin, it means you are holding a large amount of money and for that reason, everything you do should be at way of putting your privacy at check, don't compromised it for anything else everything about you will be at risk. We need to go back to ways in which we need to protect our privacy, if we can do just that and put this show off of a thing right under the shoes, there wouldn't be any sort of kidnaping. It's something people know they can use to attack you, if people don't know that you own Bitcoin, they will not plan any coordinated attack on you and if you are influencers, there are ways you can represent yourself and influence people without putting much about you onto the public.

In any case, the Coinbase CEO has a huge security budget for example. Coinbase spent $6.2 million in 2024 (on Brian Armstrong's personal security), an amount that's more than the combined budgets of the CEOs of JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, and Nvidia. According to available data, Brian Armstrong's net worth is estimated at around $15.3 billion in 2025, according to Forbes (and, of course, also depending on the price of cryptocurrencies and the value of Coinbase's stock). Obviously not, but we have many politicians and rich people living like this even if they have no connection with Bitcoin. I saw long time ago Jameson Lopp predicted that number of attacks on people holding bitcoin will increase a lot, and he was right. However, solution is not to keep with in some kind of centralized crypto bank or exchange, but by using multisig setup, and by not bragging everywhere that you own bitcoin.

For sure that influencers can't afford to do that especially that they are earning huge the same as what those influential people gain from their running businesses. But influencers could still do something to protect their selves by not disclosing on where they live and also not to tell their current location when they go out. I guess with that somehow they can make their selves safe.

Bitcoin influencers can be put in a high risk if they expose their bitcoin hodlings and tell the world how huge their portfolio is. So the best remedy is, simply not telling the people that you are into bitcoin investment. There are a lot of crypto influencers who never flex their own investment, that’s for their own safety and their family as well. That way, at least people only know that they have wide knowledge with crypto or bitcoin, but have never had huge hodlings on it.

They should keep on noncondescendingly educating people. Because these bad people also look at their attitude if they're too boastful. So, the pride is one reason why influencers are at risk.
If they keep on putting their portfolios as their contents and topics, we cannot help them if they're putting their safety into jeopardy.
Continuing in making crypto contents but they should avoid the topics that are dealing about how much they own.

That's why never disclose any information especially a thing that's decentralized, since no bigger system that is accountable on those money, people with bad intentions will also take advantage of stealing those because they can't be tracked once they've got those money. Once it's gone, it's almost impossible to recover, and no one’s gonna help you get it back so privacy and security should always come first when dealing with decentralized assets. One small mistake can cost everything if you're not careful. Be careful on what you post on social media, but if you're earning a lot, hire bodyguards and such to secure your safety outside.

All you’ve got to know is the risk associated with the job you do and be well prepared for it. These guys with a not so good intentions at heart always project more than you would imagine. They paint such a picture of you that you don’t even know to have projected. With just 0.0005 sat in your wallet, being an influencer, they see you yo having over 10 BTC saved away some where. That’s how the plans develop and eventually, you become a focal point for the execution of plans you wouldn’t want to come your way.

Anyone who chooses to become a crypto influencer has already signed up for the risks involved in such a job. If they truly value their safety, they will not just focus on the money they are being paid but will ensure they keep vital information about themselves very private. They should promote the brand they are working for and keep their private information out of it.
There is no need to disclose locations, family, and other details not meant for public consumption. If possible, be an anonymous influencer. There are AI tools available to ensure that this works perfectly and with wider publicity.

That's exactly what happens with that YouTube channel influencer I mentioned earlier, there's nothing better than staying anonymous when talking about finance. The other influencers from that channel all live abroad, meaning they create content aimed at a Brazilian audience but live in the United States or Portugal. The only one who still lives in Brazil is the one who remains anonymous.

There’s no right answer but to just keep a low profile. That’s the best way to ensure yours and your loved ones safety to the maximum possible level. But if you still want to keep being an influencer and maintain safety, the way to make that happen is just secure your accounts and devices in a way that no one can easily hack into it. As per physical threats, unless you want to carry bodyguards around you it’s hard to fight off physical threats.

As per physical threats, unless you want to carry bodyguards around you it’s hard to fight off physical threats. Every suggestion provided is good to consider when talking about our security. Also those influencers cannot keep being a low profile individual since some of them need to flex their funds or earnings just to attract people to watch or either try what they are promoting. For that cases I guess what they need to do is to limit their public visibility since if they make their selves cannot be seen by any random people then provably that there's less chance for them to experience any same crimes what happen to those famous or rich individuals.

A new sad news : https://apnews.com/article/new-york-city-kidnapping-cryptocurrency-16ccb88647944281ab6af10503d17eb5NEW YORK (AP) — A cryptocurrency investor has been arrested and charged with kidnapping a man and keeping him locked up for weeks in an upscale Manhattan apartment, where authorities say he was beaten, shocked and led to believe that his family was in danger if he didn’t give up his Bitcoin password.
John Woeltz, 37, was arrested Friday night after the victim escaped from the eight-bedroom town house and flagged down a traffic officer on the street for help, according to prosecutors. The 28-year-old victim arrived in New York City from Italy in early May, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press. The official was not authorized to speak publicly about the ongoing investigation and did so on condition of anonymity. The attacker, John Woeltz, is a wealthy crypto investor from Kentucky, known as the “Crypto King of Kentucky.” The motive? $30 million worth of crypto (according to some sources) Apparently not rich enough yet, it's crazy to commit this kind of horror to be EVEN richer. You can see more infos on X.

They can be influencers without advertising their own investment, so they can’t create a hint to the scammers in the corner that they should be the next victim then. In short, they need to stay low key and keep their bitcoin investment privately. After all, what they need to share are their genuine insights that would educate their viewers, not their own personalities that will only attract the bad guys around.
However, they should still be alert always. Scammers nowadays have become wise and smart, but they can always outsmart them by being keen observers at all times.

There is an adage in my country which says that "you don't dip your leg in the cold water and still complain of cold." This is the situation I see with the influencers, and no matter what they know of crypto and its direct protection and safety, they can still be a victim. If some of them do not operate with their attackers, I hope they do not pay with their lives, for some robbers are so desperate and show no mercy. To avoid this, the only solution is to employ security personnel and learn personal safety and security. Their lifestyle/job has already compromised them, so if they are the target, they must pay regardless of where they keep their crypto and its security details.

No need for everybody to know how you do things and keep the grind going. Only those close enough and who can be trusted, without the fear of getting into the situations that were described.
