Pope election is not something that can be predicted based on the past records of the candidates. Most of the post won unexpectedly because this event was highly influenced by faith of the believers not through the records.

This an event not dedicated for prediction betting. Those who lose huge money deserves it by betting on unknown bets. Some bettors just place bet due to trend and so on.

HB for sure I know of his principle to avoid wearing signature of gambling sites and nit promoting anything related to gambling and that is based on his religious beliefs and personal devotions, the case of this guy you mentioned that wear casino signature and get paid from gambling money is somewhat haram in the sight of everyone and even his religion.

Signature campaign here in the forum doesn’t require you to promote the brand on your post or gamble personally. Technically he is not gambling that will break his religious beliefs.

As I understand his statement, this specific bet that related to the religion is the he is avoiding and not the act of gambling. There’s some people that partially gamble despite being religious because we are still human that is not perfect.

I think involving gambling directly on religious event is already a taboo for those gambler that’s still have some faith on religious.

Usually in such bets people should be cautious, they should start from US elections which didn't come as expected with only one exception being this last time where Trump the favorite won. The same can be said to betting on next Pope, it is the first time in Vatican history that the Pope is from American origins and that would have been a huge achievement to have bet on him, in fact I rarely bet on such events though every time I did I have bet against the favorite, I was not that interested in this bet otherwise I would have won a good substantial amount of money. For me though I know that a great deal of impact has been made directly or indirectly from Trump and his administration, this in theory should not happen, at least in Vatican.

The voting is very much, different from what we already know because all cardinals are candidates and there's no campaigning done, they do it through prayers and getting to knwo the virtue of the one one cardinal wants to vote.
With this kind of voting, the perceived favorite is not the one that guarantees that it will come out as the favored one; those who bet to have fun will likely bet, but those who want to make money from this voting will be very careful or think twice before they cast their votes.

For sure influence plays huge role for cardinals to get pick as their new pope. Its undeniable about that since if you have no influence for sure you will be less chosen by cardinal electors. Everything has been said is just speculation just like what we have witness which is the result doesn't show up as what has been expected by people.

Although I don't want to question them on how they cast their votes since I just want to respect the whole voting process since what's more important is we have a new pope that will lead the Catholic church on all over the world.

This is just like the casino based game in which you do not know how the outcome is selected. Everything is done indoors and we are only communicated by a smoke, so much secrecy to have my bet with huge amounts. Personally I do not consider it morally okay to bet on religious activities, no matter which religion is concerned. It feels more to me like a moral insult to the religion that its actions are relegated to mere gambling.

For the response to your question OP, I would not bet on the next pope selections because of moral reasons.

I was astonished that an American, Cardinal Robert Prevost, became pope. People who bet on a different pope probably thought they were taking a calculated risk. Anyway, about the question, I didn't really made a bet for the new pope but it was really unexpected. Well, that's expected as it will depend on the support of different coubtry Cardinals.
I read there's so many issues about him in the past about the LGBTQ+ community. I hope he changed because he will gain a lot of support from them.

I have never been a fan of religious gambling so anything that is religion related or has lives involved tend not to entice me enough for me to bet on them, so I never took part in this pope selection that was just concluded.

I saw a tweet on X where a user claimed to have won $50k from a $500 bet he made on this  pope, that had 1% chance as compared to the others and to me that’s kind of amazing but still I don’t think I’m going to be a part of it - maybe unless something happens that changes my view on religion and some other personal beliefs.

The point in this case is that people had no clue who were the favorites for the papal succession, so they totally trusted on the sports books selection of candidates to place their bets accordingly. It was like shooting in the dark, but you can be pretty assured there is a small number of individuals who knew exactly what the real tendency was going to be and must have profited a lot from this event, while majority of gamblers lost big money.

Next time, I think it's not a good idea to bet on papal conclave anymore. It's actually worse than betting on Oscars prize, which is also a tricky event to bet on. It reminds me a guideline of sports betting: don't bet on sports or leagues you don't know anything about.

I am not a Muslim and my religious belief has nothing to compare with gambling. I have my own belief and I never said it is wrong to gamble on who will be the next Pope. It is a personal thing that I don't want to gamble on religious things. It has nothing to do with my type of religion it's just a persona religious belief. I feel it is not right. I don't want to do something I will feel bad about doing.

There were 7 or so people in the running for the Pope so everyone, including the gambling sites, had a 1 in 7 chance of being correct. The gambling sites are gambling on the people being wrong and the people are gambling on picking right, so regardless of the outcome it's not like it was rigged or anything.

Will I bet on the next pope is the question in your title and my answer is no. I didn't bet on this 1 and I don't know enough to consider betting on the next one.

Every gambler is always expected to gamble responsibly regardless of how strong their financial condition is. Gambling within certain limits and limiting the budget is also recommended, but it is always difficult to prevent someone who has brainwashed himself with the imagination of big wins. Some people gamble to make money, while others to fulfill their entertainment needs, both have different approaches and the habits of gambler in the first category tend to have problems compared to others.

I am not saying I am responsible for gambling, but at least I know my limits and where to stop. I have set a budget limit and so far it has also reduced the intensity of gambling, it really makes me more comfortable without chasing anything from gambling.

It has shown that you cannot depend on statistics on some platforms. The selection for now is highly secretive, and it will be difficult to get insider information. The 133 cardinal electors cannot be predicted since most of them live private lives and don't have social media presence.

I didn't place a bet on the current Pope on any platform, and I am not sure I will ever do that. Betting on religious issues doesn't seem right to me. I prefer betting on activities I enjoy such as sports.
