It's here. The day that we have all longed for. Mark Karpeles (Mt.Gox CEO) has been ordered by a judge to come to the United States to answer questions regarding the collapse of the infamous Mt.Gox exchange. The court hearing will take place on April 16, 2014 Dallas Texas.

Let's see what happens next! Isn't this exciting?! Will justice be served?

I think it's not bad that he has to justify the collapse (and why the coins dissapeared..).

I'm not sure how the law is in other states, but inaccurate leading a company is punishable here in The Netherlands.

It's just for questioning. It wouldn't surprise me if his negligence or business practices was punishable by law though.

That's what I meant.  I'm not sure how the law regarding that is regulated in the USA, but that kind of negligence really is punishable in the Netherlands. Allthough I don't think the Netherlands will ever sue him ^^. Maybe the The Hague international court if the collapse really was caused due to negligence ^^.

There's no sensible reason he cannot be questioned remotely. Of course, they just want to see him get US "justice". I bet this judge has had pressure put on her.

If he has even half an iota of sense he won't be going to the US any time soon.

its not a prosecution case. its a deposition. its not even going to be held in a court room. PLEASE read the source material and dont come to unfounded conclusions.

he has to answer questions in regards to what he has said about how the funds disappeared, vs the evidence gathered from other sources. the result is not jail time. but whether he will be granted or denied bankruptcy protections.

again can the FUD spreaders get your cataracts sorted or declare yourself 100% blind. so that the rest of us can ignore the news that you have read.. and instead read the proper factual news

Quote
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Stacey Jernigan on Tuesday ordered Karpeles to appear on April 17 in Dallas at the offices of Baker & McKenzie, the law firm that represents Mt. Gox.

not a criminal judge
not a courtroom

Quote
Jernigan limited the deposition questioning of Karpeles to issues pertaining to whether the court should grant permanent bankruptcy protection to Mt. Gox.

Is the US having an extradition treaty with Japan? (I hope that Karpeles is still in Japan).

He might not go. He must be paranoid that they'll arrest him for something or other.

If they were planning on jailing him do you think they'd say "Mark, please come to the US so we can throw you in jail?"

Hell no, they'd try to bait him here under the pretense of something else.

I believe he will not be going the US. There is no reason why he cannot answer questions over video conference in a law firm in Japan. If he has a choice between jail time in US and Japan, he would choose the latter.

He may not be going to the US, but the judge made it clear that if he doesn't, Mt. Gox doesn't get bankruptcy protection in the US. That means US-based lawsuits can proceed.

If he does go to the US, the FBI and the SEC will probably want to talk to him.

His big troubles are in Japan. The "mtgoxrecovery.com" people filed a statement alleging fraud with the Tokyo District Court handling the bankruptcy. That derailed the schedule for the bankruptcy. Mt. Gox probably won't get "civil rehabilitation" - they'll get one of the harsher forms of bankruptcy in Japan. One that kicks Karpeles out and puts a trustee in.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police are still investigating, and now some ex-Mt. Gox employees are talking.  The Mt. Gox coverup is coming apart.

He should be going to Jail for the damage he has done to Bitcoin. The fat horrible ****  ****** ****** BEEP ***** BEEP **** French **** BEEP FAT ****

But thats just my opinion, Who knows. I doubt he will even step foot on US soil. Cry

After the NSA gives him a new identity, you might not notice him living in the USA.*
*If Mark is a "pasty" they would probably kill him to make sure he stays quiet.

His best option is to return all the coins.........LOL???
