How do I avoid creating topic that already exists?

I can't really tell if there's a post that has deliberated on this already, if there's any, I'll be most happy if a user can direct me there.

Apart from the fact that it's expected that everyone that's familiar with most of the social and interactive platforms ought to know that the search option reveals a lot about what's already happening on the forum, when you're new to a forum, it's best to quietly walk through the forum user interface to see how it's being structured so you can in your own learn the basics on the forum functionality before having to ask question on things you can know on your own.

If you're in for the learning sake, a lot of the things you would want to ask questions on have already been asked by once upon a time newbie like yourself including this very question you are asking now. It's just like in the normal life, a lot of the challenges we are facing are similar to what those that have gone before us have faced  but the advantage of this is that the evident of the past life of those that have come before us are readily available for us to chunk through which will give us a lot of information to get a good start on our stay in the forum.

Good question and I believe you must have gotten good answers from the forum members, top on the answer list is that; you used the Search button.
In addition to using the search buttons, there are other means you need to know.

• Avoid generic questions like "How do I grow in the forum," "How to earn merit fast". These questions are obviously generic and must have repeated so many times in the forum.
• Avoid teaching your fellow newbies about bitcoin or any other thing you yourself doesn't understand well.

So, if you avoid unnecessary dramas, you won't repeat what others have done. Think critically.

I usually use the manual method, which is by typing keywords into a Google search, and then looking at them one by one from the existing discussions in the forum, if I find that there is no topic that is really related to what I will make, then I will make it after making sure. However, if you want a simple way, then you can use some of the tools that have been provided to make the search easier, and that has been told by several users in the replies above.

For example, I tried typing the topic you made into Google, and using incognito mode to make sure that it was really fair, and as an example what came out was as follows:

Okay, let's get straight to the point. To avoid duplicate topics, you can do a Google search for potential keywords that you will use in the topic title. Additionally, you can also use Ninjastic to do in-forum searches, the results in Ninjastic should be more accurate than in Google, give it a try.

This is a very laborious way of going about it because the wordings of the topic may not be the same and when that happens, Ninjastic cannot get it right but will leave you more confused than ever. Have you thought about searching with key words only to return thousands of topics, how will you sort this? I think the forum search engine is more useful for this case as given by dzungmobile in the below reply.

It is easy and you can avoid it or at least reduce your chance of making threads for asking questions already asked as well as answered.

One thing I noticed about all this newbies is that they don't want to get involve in discussion in the forum they just want to rush and create topics in other to get merit because they believe is only when they create topics they can gain merit from forum members and that is why you see them creating topics without knowing if it has been created already.
As a newbie into this forum what you should be doing is reading different thread and joining in conversation in other to learn more not by just creating topics.
If as a newbie and you are very active in the forum joining in conversation and not wanting to again merit by all means you will know topics that has been discussed or posted.
So my advice for you is that you become more active in the forum focus in knowing about the forum very well and join in discussion.

This is not a strong argument, it could be just by ignorance..
We see that in the behaviour newbies may have, asking/posting short unnecessary comments, making double posts, they could be just not familiar.. with the forum mechanisms, sometimes in the mind of a newbie is like for a kid, if he thinks about something, by precipitation he feels like nobody addressed it before !
It may be globally just lack of experience.
A user who is habituated to forums posting will not adopt this behavior at all!

Which makes me think that newbies users who are used to other social networks may find it difficult to get used to the forum
Most social networks have a search that doesn't work very well and the focus is on new things, unlike the forum which has a different and very good organization for older things, separated by boards and threads

Sometimes I even find it interesting to create a new topic even if an older one already exists to attract new opinions and possibly better and more up-to-date information
But obviously not in all cases

I believe you have been told already, so no need to say much. However, it's very simple, you just have to search for what you want, and if it's not there's, then you can go ahead to create your thread. Although, if there's an existing thread that has the same content you want to raise topic about, all you need to do is visit the existing thread and make your post there instead of creating fresh one.

To avoid creating topics that already exists just use the search button to search whatever topic you feel that has been discussed in the forum before,by right you ought to read more rather than creating topics as a newbie.Creating repeated topics is disallowed in this forum,and it's the duty of a moderator on each board to delete repeated topics.
And if you're curious to know about something in the crypto space, there's also no need asking repeated questions just use the search button instead.What gives you the impression that the question you're about to ask as a newbie has not been asked years back?
I'm glad you know spamming is prohibited on this forum, though you've been on this forum for 5 months so you ought to know the rules by now.

Yes, sometimes some Topics/Subjects just needs a fresh start.. from the new actual updated line/point of view!
sometimes,  there is just no need to lose your informations on very large topics where +95% of previous users have left for good, and with no really relevant informations/in the balance!




*About the search.. The forum engine is not 100% ok, with (for example) even some sections excluded from the filtering/search... I don't know if this is a choice from the Mods or... anyway !

And I don't know if you already know, but Google have stopet seraching, or founding your things.. it is not a secret, it is even a topical subject  !so,
try with other engines.. don't give-up if google don't give it !

That is very true. The reason why some people create repeated posts frequently is their purpose to the forum. A newbie whose intention is to learn bitcoin will also research and come up with something positive. But a newbie whose intention is to rank up by any means and start earning through signature campaign will not pay attention topics to understand if it is repeated or not
Op, no one is perfect. You can mistakenly create posts that already exists, there is no problem if you can figure out and lock the thread promptly.

I agree. There is no perfect one. One or two times we have we have created a post that was later called to our attention that someone else has created the topic. We cannot always know if a topic has been created but if it is hot and trendy topic , then you will be sure that it has already been created for discussion. In this case it is safe to first confirm before hitting post. The notification bot is also helps to keep up updated on the latest discussion on the forum.
