Interesting outcome for the league. I was expecting Olympiakos to keep the lead but seems like they're having a herd time now.

The match day after the upcoming one is crucial as some of the leagues top teams are playing each other. It also might be one of the first times on years where Panathinaikos could be outside of the playoffs. Hopefully not though because it's be a huge miss to not see.them compete in a higher level after these epic transfers.

I find it interesting that Olympiakos tied Leverkusen. Sadly that wasn't enough after losing  0 - 2 so Olympiakos is still eliminated.

To me it's still by a miracle that Olympiakos managed to reach that high. Greek football has somehow become more competitive. Our domestic league is plagued by accusations of fixed matches and under the table dealings between team owners but for any Greek team tombe managing to reach international success it actually means they're pretty strong because international competition is much more heavily regulated.

So I'll still feel proud for any team doing well in internet competition. Surely I'll be looking forward to success from other teams in the Europa league and conference league.

Our domestic league is plagued by accusations of fixed matches and under the table dealings between team owners but for any Greek team tombe managing to reach international success it actually means they're pretty strong because international competition is much more heavily regulated.

That's true, even though it's a shame, it's still a big deal that Olympiakos managed to reach that far. As for the Greek Super League, I was quite disappointed with OFI losing against Panathinaikos the previous Sunday and didn't bother to post an update. This also shows how slim the chances of OFI winning the Super Cup against PAOK, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything, as it can be quite unexpected. I'm posting the upcoming matches, with OFI playing against AEL on Saturday. There's no derby this weekend, unless Aris vs. Panathinaikos counts.

Also, Greece is playing against Montenegro tomorrow and on Monday for basketball World Cup.

It was about time I think

After Olympiakos now Panathinaikos and PAOK also got eliminated from European competitions.

AEK is now the only Greek team in European competition for this season. The draw for the next phase is at the 27th of February so it'll be pretty exciting to see who aek gets matched against. Maybe they could have a shot at a good position with a bit of luck too

AEK was matched to CELJE for the phase of 16 in the conference league which seems to be the top team in Slovenia at the time.
Funnily enough there's only one time these teams had played each other and it was last year again for conference league and AEK had lost 3 to 1! This time odds seem to favour AEK for some reason but I think it'll be a tough matchup.

Levadiakos will eventually drop from the 4th place to 5th if they continue like that. They started out strong, but their performance is slowly diminishing. They even lost against Kifisia, something I wasn't expecting, while Panathinaikos is doing the exact opposite. Their performance was quite poor in the first few weeks but it has vastly improved. On a positive note, OFI won against Larissa on Saturday, something which wasn't unexpected, but you never know.

But I'm sure they'll want to pay a lot of attention to the international competition.

And then there's also Levadeiakos Vs Panathinaikos and if Levadeiakos lose they'll likely miss their chance to be in the playoffs so it's an important match for them.

As for the Greek Super League, I'd say that I'm quite disappointed with Wednesday's match of Panathinaikos vs. OFI, it ended in 4-1, the first match of this league where Panathinaikos has scored that many goals. PAOK on the other hand obliterated Kifissia with the exact same score. Makes you reconsider how feasible it is for OFI to win the Cup against PAOK. Tomorrow we're playing against Volos, I don't think we're going to lose, but it's not anything trivial either.

Well, Levadiakos started out strong, but the last few games were a disaster, Panathinaikos is now at fourth place. I'm more disappointed that OFI vs. Volos ended in a tie, with two goals scored in total. Volos broke through their defences literally at the very last minute, a game which was considered a win was lost because they let their guard down. Even if we had won, it would still be disappointing for a team that's supposedly going on the finals of Greek Cup to struggle that much against Volos.

We'll be able to see their match tomorrow against real betis. It'll be an interesting matchup as we don't usually get a chance to see greek teams play Spanish ones.

Panathinaikos managed to snatch a win against Real Betis with a lady minute penalty. Surely a confidence boost for them but there's also another leg on the 16 phase and Panathinaikos will have to play in Spain. Let's see if they'll manage to secure an advancement.

That was a crazy last minute plot twist! I was watching the game from the gym and didn't think that Panathinaikos would eventually win. It was an amazing match, great job to Panathinaikos! As for the Greek Super League, OFI is playing against Olympiakos in the Pancretan stadium tomorrow at 5pm, I believe it's going to be an interesting match, even though I don't think we stand a chance against them. There are also some other interesting options this weekend, but I'm not sure on which ones to focus on.

It didn't go too well for OFI yesterday, who lost against Olympiakos in the Pancretan stadium with three goals from Olympiakos. As disheartening it was to see, I kind of expected that it would ultimately end that way, but I believed we could have done better and at least scored one goal. Anyway, I was also surprised to see AEK vs. Atromitos to end in a tie, had I placed a bet on AEK winning, I'd be seriously pissed as I wouldn't have expected AEK not to win. Fortunately, I ended up choosing over 3 goals scored and won, but it was still a little frustrating.

OFI is playing against Aris on Sunday and I'm not sure what the outcome is going to be. I'm routing for OFI, of course, but Aris is also a strong team. This match will also be an indicator of how possible it is to win against PAOK in the Greek Super Cup in about a month from now. The odds are severely in favour of Aris winning (1.61 vs. 5.20). Other good options are Levadiakos vs. Atromitos, Panetolikos vs. Panseraikos and surprisingly, Levadiakos vs. Panathinaikos has decent odds (4.90 vs. 1.76), taking into account that Panathinaikos' performance has been great in the past matches.

An interesting outcome for the normal duration of the greek superleague.
AEK came first and now we should be expecting the playoffs to start on the beginning of April. Small break till then
 
In the meantime Panathinaikos is out of the Europa league.
AEK lost their last match to CELJE surprisingly after they managed to win them 4 to 0 but the two goals weren't enough.

So AEK remains the only Greek team in European competition while also being first in the domestic league. Now AEK is matches with Rayo Vakenciano which is 14th in la Liga. The odds still seem to favour the Spaniards. Maybe it's worth taking the dip with aek though for a 4x

It's been a while since the last match of the Greek Super League took place, in 22th of March, so after this short break, we returned back to our normal routine, till it gets "disrupted" again for the upcoming Easter holidays. This weekend was quite interesting, featuring two derbies in only one weekend, with AEK winning against Olympiakos, with one goal, and PAOK vs. Panathinaikos ending in a tie, with no goals scored. As for OFI vs. Volos, it ended in a tie, again, after our previous match in 8th of March, which also ended in a tie in the last minute of the game.

Well the opening after the break was quite eventful with AEK winning against Olympiakos.

I'd go as far as to say that by now they have cemented their team in the first place which by now and by how well they are performing would be hard to change. Us Greeks (I'd hope) are all rooting for them in the Conference league match at April 9th as the last team holding on to European leagues this season.

There's also the final of the Greek cup later this month with a match between PAOK Vs OFI. Two very historical teams and OFI being a leader in Crete now being the biggest team to represent the island. It's the second time in recent years they reach the cup final and they'll be very eager for a trophy, but PAOK is also celebrating its 100 years so surely they'll try very hard for a chance to a title.

There will be a mat h B between the two but I think it's very unlikely the goal difference can favour AEK at this point.

It was interesting because even with a tie on this match and a victory on the next Greek teams would have been guaranteed a champions league spot as the country would have become 10th in rankings. In that regard Cyprus did manage to reach the 15th ranking so they are guaranteed two spots in European competitions now. Cyprus jumped 4 spots in coefficients this year so they're one of the most favoured countries. Hopefully their streak continues.

So another thing to look forward with greek football is the domestic league which will be out of break and having matches again after the 18th of April. On the 19th we have two derbys, Panathinaikos Vs Olympiakos and AEK Vs PAOK. Some of the most well known rivalries in Europe.
