How does this work in your country, and what would you do with your coins in the event of a divorce?

In my country, only legal marriages that's conducted in the law court which marriage process is known or be court marriage that only grants spouse the privileges of owning portions of their spouse when they breaks out of marriage. So since the court binds them together in a documentary, so also it's required to follow the due legal process of the court when seek for divorce and until then the divorce appeal is granted will be the recourse of couples adhering to inheritance after divorce. So it's not an acknowledgement practice by any other form of marriage that's no legally backed by the legal jurisdiction.

As for what I'll do with by bitcoin, thank God for the invention of decentralization, women now are more of selfish interests and That's why they bargains on contract marriages so, somewhere in the future, they could file a divorce case just to get share my belongings with me.
So on that course, I'll have most of my assets stored in bitcoin specially holding on decentralized where I won't be traced of all my wealth because I can't afford to world heartedly and have to share them with someone that didn't contribute to the success.
So as the decentralized blockchain implies, so also I'll hold my digital assets secretly without my wife's knowledge. Maybe I'll consider having a corporative wallet with her where we could be storing our funds together and that'll be the only ideal of her about my digital assets.

If there is no prenuptial agreement, I think that most of the laws say that it's a conjugal property. But it differs when it comes to Bitcoin. I guess that some married men didn't mention their Bitcoin assets and it's out of the context but if by the time that their wives knew that they hold it, it is for sure part of the legal separation if ever divorce happens. And that's one of the many cases about this that their spouse has hidden their wealth in Bitcoin through OPs given link and example. I don't know what to do if it's on me and I don't wish it happens to me.

A situation where Bitcoin was not even worth mentioning while a relationship developed into a marriage is a very niche but I'm sure very real thing that some people have had to work out. I think what you said here is true, it's conjugal property if there was no prenup. If there was, it falls in with the prenup.

In marriage, many men are often very patriarchal and think that they are more important because they are the only ones working hard to earn money...so they should be treated better or have more privileges. But how can they earn money if there is no one to help them with the housework? The husband cannot do anything if the wife does not sacrifice her youth to give birth, take care of the children, the elderly mother, and do housework...how can the husband focus on making money? It can be affirmed that family happiness always has a great contribution from the wife.
Husband can't do anything if "bla bla bla"? men can hire housekeeper, those thing will be done without need a wife. If they urge with sex, they can just go to prostitution. If they want connection, they can meet their friends and share anything.

Making money is very hard, if women feel it's easy, let's swap their tasks with their husbands, their husbands do domestic jobs, while women are focus on making money.

Quote
As a courageous man, money is not everything, don't compete with women over petty matters, because earning money is not too difficult.
Earning money isn't difficult, but earning a huge amount of money is very damn difficult!

Usually, people don't get divorced without a reason; there is always a reason, and at least one will look offended. So if a woman has the opportunity to take everything for herself, then I'm with her; let the man start all over again. There is no need to look for justice where there is none; marriages do not fall apart just like that. If you do not have a marriage contract, then there is nothing to think about. I understand the indignation of men now, but there is a good expression: women do not leave real men, and if he leaves, then the ex-wife has every right to take everything as compensation for moral damage and time wasted on this idiot. Smiley

I am a married guy. My wife has access to my bank accounts and all of the assets I have. Imagine one day I found she was cheating on me, and she wants to divorce me because she is in love with someone else. Or she ran away with all my hard-earned money. In this case, you are supporting her saying women do not leave the real man. LOL.

If you stand by what you said, I will have to assume you are mentally sick or that you are ignorant.

How does this work in your country, and what would you do with your coins in the event of a divorce?

Cryptocurrency is still in the early stages in my country. My projection is that about 90% of women in my country might not know what a crypto wallet is except they are told by their husbands. If there is a marriage contract, cryptocurrency will be treated like money in the bank.

If you marry a supportive wife, you will always want to share your wealth justly. She would have a portion that would be enough for her to be comforted after the pain of divorce. Currently,  my partner knows everything about my finances, including my Crypto assets.

"Women don't leave real men." I have never heard these words anywhere. I wouldn't mind knowing some of the qualities of a real man because I don't want to lose my woman. But from my observation, most divorces are caused by infidelity, and the men are always the most cheats.

For me if I don't have any contribution on that balances I will not touch it since I will always honor the effort made by my partner and not going to be thick face thinking about getting something from her/him.

But we know now everyone has not same sentiments towards this situation and there are people want to get 50% of their partners wealth because they always think that its a conjugal property.

That's why we also need to produce an income for ourselves so that we won't rely on someone's earning and we can stand on our own.

Oh, what's wrong? Could you please share why you're responding in this way? Besides, why so rudely? I'll explain my point of view so you can sleep peacefully. Some men don't value their women; they cheat on them or drink alcohol and bring nothing but problems to the family. Let's not forget about the cruel treatment of women, those who are subjected to regular violence. Do you know such stories? I think so, yes. It is precisely such men that you need to leave, do you hear? A real man will never hurt a woman, neither physically nor psychologically. If a woman leaves for another man, it means that her ex-man either did not give her love or respect, or she is just a slut and fool. I don't want to talk about the second option.

And now to you, if you love your woman, not in words, but in actions, she won't leave you, because you, hurray, are a real man. Be proud of it, and learn to read and not judge people.

Believe me, my experience in married life is very long, and I know what I'm talking about.

There's no point in commenting; I'm no longer interested. pffff Roll Eyes

Financial infidelity refers to the act of withholding important financial information, such as debts, expenses, income, or assets, from one's partner in an attempt to deceive or control the couple's financial situation. This can include secret bank accounts, hidden investments or holdings of cryptocurrencies. This phenomenon can have serious consequences particularly during divorce.

Quote
New York is an equitable distribution state, meaning that a spouse gets 50% of the marital assets accumulated during the marriage.
Spouse 1 worked during the marriage and earned $100k. Spouse 2 lived off Spouse 2 (doing nothing) the entire time and earned $0. After the divorce, the "common" income of $100k is divided between the two: Spouse 1 loses -$50k, Spouse 2 gets "out of thin air" +$50k. Tell me, is this fair? Smiley

If hidden accounts are discovered, this can, depending on the country, have various legal consequences such as a tax audit but also prosecution for fraud, etc...
Fraud? For hiding YOUR hard-earned money from an unreliable spouse (and it is an unreliable spouse if he demands a divorce and half of the savings)? Questions arise about the legal systems of such countries.

I think that in France, there aren't many cases in which one spouse seeks out the other's coins, and therefore no real specialist, like the one in this CNBC article.
If one has to “protect” oneself from civil law legislation (this is what marriages between citizens belong to) with the help of marriage contracts, then here too questions arise about the fairness and benefits of marriage unions for both participants of this union at the level of laws.

Quote
In the case, DiMichael said, the husband had a Ledger and then the wife found the device in the house and took it. “So the wife had the Ledger, but she didn’t know the pin number, or password. And the husband — he knew the pin number, but he didn’t have the Ledger.”

Neither could access the funds without the cooperation of the other.
This is the ideal family, when spouse 1 depends on spouse 2.Cheesy

It is precisely such men that you need to leave, do you hear? A real man will never hurt a woman, neither physically nor psychologically.
I agree with what you have said above. But let's move to the next part.

Quote
If a woman leaves for another man, it means that her ex-man either did not give her love or respect, or she is just a slut and fool.
You came to the point saying "or she is just a slut and fool". But in the first post, you said "If a woman has the opportunity to take everything for herself, then I'm with her; let the man start all over again. There is no need to look for justice where there is none" Do you guarantee that all women are honest? How do you know that women only leave men because the man is bad? What about women who cheat their man and want a divorce just because they want to live a better life with someone else by cheating a man?

In that post, you generalized the idea that a woman has the right to take everything regardless of how her man is, right? Why? Nobody deserves this. Do not generalize cheating.

Quote
And now to you, if you love your woman, not in words, but in actions, she won't leave you, because you, hurray, are a real man. Be proud of it, and learn to read and not judge people.
Believe me, my experience in married life is very long, and I know what I'm talking about.

Personally, I am happy with my married life. I have kids, and I am happy with my family as well. You are no longer interested because you wanted to generalize cheating by saying, "If a woman has the opportunity to take everything for herself, then I'm with her; let the man start all over again."

I love it how most people chose the option of intending to share. That's my principle in marriage as well, so I have no issues here, no matter how things go. Cooperation is the least people can do in this case, that's just a fair and logical out-of-court solution. But I'd feel very hurt if I found out my spouse was hiding some funds from me.
In terms of law, I think in my country, divorce also leads to a 50-50 split, unless people settle it outside the court (which many do). But if there is a strong disagreement between spouses, then you have to prove that it was not acquired in marriage (meaning, you worked for it and got it yourself, even if it's during marriage).
Many unpleasantries, unnecessary matters, a time-consuming and expensive process takes place when people lawyer up and go to court over financial matters. So, even just rationally, I don't think it makes sense. Unless you are being grossly mistreated.

The conclusion - If I get married, I would NEVER trust my wife with my Bitcoins. She can have the fiat savings, the car, the house, the cat, and the dog, but she'll NEVER know about my 2019 Bitcoins HODLed in cold storage. Those seed words are split into three and hidden in different places, WITH proper back-ups hidden also in multiple places.

But for the married people in BitcoinTalk, do your wives/husbands know thar you own Bitcoin?

I think that each situation must be considered individually. If a man has millions of dollars in cryptocurrency, then he probably lives with his wife not poorly. They have many other assets in the form of real estate, accounts in banks, shares and so on. If a man decides to get divorced, then he will probably turn to a good lawyer who will advise him how to save his property during a divorce.

Good decision.

People always say why unfair with your ex wife, she deserves to get your wealth, why you dare to make her life hard after divorce, you're not a real man and not a good husband etc.

But, they forget if we're only consider to protect our coins and other private assets, the other tangible assets which she know would be given half/full for her. So, she will not live poorly.

The answer is no, my wife don't know I own Bitcoin.

But then the wife will also get a BETTER lawyer and make the ex-husband give 50% of EVERYTHING he has, have custody over the kids, and she'll receive a monthly check as alimony. GENERALLY that's the LEAST of the situation. It could get worse for the ex-husband.

Bitcoin HODLers, do yourself a favor - KEEP YOUR BITCOIN WALLET SECRET.

I feel its interesting situation because many different views are coming while I personally also never trust other than me for my bitcoins because its risky thing which can bring serious mess-up for anyone.
But its just personal endorsement because many peoples around us are having good and strong relationship with they are sharing all things with each other even few have bad experience but still life goes on I have to be agreed with @Wind_Fury about few things because his point of view is also strong in this case.
If someone is not comfortable then he never shares his own personal stuff with anyone even his family or wife while he is giving all stuff which is important and usable for them, It's also not bad at all.

If my future wife and I go through a DIVORCE, I have already posted that she can have EVERYTHING, but my Bitcoins belong only to ME.

I have HODLed them from 2019, I celebrated, I got stressed, my mental sanity unstable through all of the volatility AND they'll demand that they'll get my Bitcoins too? NO, DEFINITELY NOT.

Protect your coins. Never let your wife/future wife know you have Bitcoin.

In my country, a lot of people depends on the type of marriage agreement too. If it's a community property regime, then assets acquired during marriage are usually split 50-50.
Honestly, if I were going through a divorce and had crypto I’d be transparent. Hiding assets just creates more problems legally and emotionally  but I do get why some people try to protect what they feel is theirs especially in messy divorces. Still honesty usually saves you more pain in the long run.

That is respectable and personally, I think that it's a mindset that would be healthy for everyone to adopt (respect one's own work and fruits). I wonder if the world would be any different if this was the default despite marriage.

You have made the mistake of marrying with joint assets. Simply by marrying in a way that keeps assets from before and after separate, you will save yourself a lot of trouble in the case of an unfortunate scenario. Bad people don't deserve to be rewarded for bad behavior, no matter what an unfair law says.

In my country, a lot of people depends on the type of marriage agreement too. If it's a community property regime, then assets acquired during marriage are usually split 50-50.

In the case of a cooperative marriage and a mutual split for normal reasons, for example no longer feeling intimate or in love sure. For cases where one partner is abusive, cheating and bad in other ways, why should they deserve to be rewarded for this behavior? This bad setup is one of the reasons why divorce rates are so high and people behave so badly. If you were complete sure you would get 0% if you cheated in any case, so with or without prenup, you would think twice before acting in evil ways.
