We've heard enough of these kind of stories, but these kind of people are hopeless and there's no way we could have prevented it as they most likely not going to give you signs or hints what they are about to do with the money they possessed. Those people who gave advices are the devil who whispers to weak people's ears. They are not stupid, but they are wise. They will use that person to gain a portion of their wealth when luck strikes after gambling.

That 2nd person will probably face legal consequences for spending the money that doesn't belong to him. That's quite similar to stealing. If he goes to prison, that's where he's gonna commit suicide successfully this time lol.

My advice would be to avoid problems before it catch up, especially financial risk taking, something with a 50/50 possibility like gambling.

Suicide is not the best, nor should it be part of any punishment given to tough situations. More people have gone through situations worse than losing money, of recent something happened in my state, a motorcycle store was destroyed after being restocked two days ago by the dealer, imagine millions lost in a single time, is it worth taking his life?

The victims gambled by choice, it is their fault and should bear the consequences, if they had won the bet it would have been the other way around. Suicide is not an option, instead they would have sorted out a better way of repayment.

I know it's hard for people to avoid taking risk in life, in as much as it is slightly inevitable they should only take risk with money that belongs to them, not with money that belongs to someone else. In the second instances, the gambler put himself and the owner of the money in jeopardy.

Nothing. Luckily I have not experienced such situations with anyone close to me. I have heard of acquaintances who lost more than they owed, or I have seen someone else, someone I knew by sight, who lost a month's salary in the slot machine on payday. It's good that we gamble responsible and use only the amount of money that you can afford to lose because gambling isn't a money doubling machine. Commiting suicide after a huge loss isn't the solution and it will be better that you live to face the consequences of your actions and learn from it so that you don't make such mistakes again. Although I like to read such stories, I don't ask myself what I would do if something like that happened to me... It's pointless to comment on it from a comfortable chair while you're relaxed and sipping your drink. Talking about such topic is somehow tabu in many cultures, mine included; but if you ask me, there is no justification for committing suicide, except perhaps if doing it you save your family or beloved ones (someone wants to punish you by hurting them and you kill yourself, like in films).

Fortunately that happens mostly in movies, not in real life, unless you borrow money from the mafia.

I would consider these two funny stories and not show empathy to any of them since they showed depth of financial indiscipline by gambling out of moderation and secondly, they were very low on emotional control and had to kill themselves. I have always believed that no matter the circumstance I find myself into, death is not an option.

Suicide is for the weak, it is an escape from reality. If you want to show strength, then stand and fight the situation. They went too extreme in their weakness by taking their own lives. We know some people value their reputation more than their life (in the case of the second person), but come on man, killing yourself solves no issues, it even ends up putting more problems on the shoulders of those you are leaving behind.

The punishment for the second person rescued is to be subjected to working hard to raise the money he lost under close supervision so he can se for himself that loosing money is not the end of life, and he would be made a speaker in seminars and outreaches to campaign against suicide for at least 5 years.

Fast and easy money corrupts human nature. Also, in most cases, the lucky ones don't know how to properly manage the money they win. The classic saying: easy come - easy go.

Losing the last money doesn't mean a total loss. The person still has life, which allows him to return what was lost if he makes an effort (serious). Suicide leaves no chance of restoring his previous positions. In fact, this is the most irrevocable and final loss.

One of the reasons why both are wrong is because both have the mindset of wanting to get a lot of money in a short time without doing research or seeing first about what activity they are facing.

It is not justifiable, but unfortunately it happens much more than we can imagine. In the second case, for example, I believe that the punishment was already suffered twice, once for the defeat and once for not having succeeded (fortunately, because it was someone who clearly needed help).

I have not seen something like this happen to people I know; I only read news about it and have also watched something similar in movies. These stories should serve as a lesson to those who take risks they cannot handle. Sometimes, it gets me wondering what goes on in the minds of gamblers who gamble with their life savings, emergency funds, borrowed money, and other items they cannot afford to lose. I am beginning to believe that there is a spirit which lures people to act stupid, only to leave them helpless when the deed has been done. I don't think it's greed alone, something else could be motivating them.

for us for sure we will view it that it is not justifiable but for them it is and most likely it is because of guilt, shame, presure etc... as for what the punishment for the second guy should be, he would most likely be charged with theft but because of his suicide attempt he could get mental treatment first before facing the charges and there is a chance he will put in a mental institution if his mental health is still not good.

It is very natural to lose money when betting. But it is never acceptable to lose your life because of that bet. Although the suggestion given in the two mentioned cases was definitely not a suitable suggestion. Because the gambler was told to bet in the hope of quick profit, which is never appropriate. In the case of the second person, the suggestion was also wrong. Normally in gambling, no one can say for sure whether it will be a win or a loss, but when betting with the others money, it will be completely risky. The gambler should never bet with such money. The gambler may become addicted or greedy and make any mistake, but he should never choose the path of suicide for this. If you lose money, you can get it back at any time, but if you lose your life, that is no longer possible. Life is much more valuable than money.

Well there is no reason whatsoever that will make a man take his own life at Will. I have created a thread about aan commiting suicide due to the loan he took and gamble it all and lose, and he became a deptor of theoney he didn't even spend wisely. And he ended his life for the sake of becoming free fron Dept. But the penalty of Dept or bad money management shouldn't be death but there should be ways to figure out how to cope with such issues. If a gambler have lose a huge sume of money that will result to thinking about taken his life then he should just travel to a new location and interact with people and make new friends atleast he will be free from that toxic environment. Maybe as time goes on he cope up with new life.

I understand that these two people did something stupid by gambling and hoping that they could make some quick money from it. But for whatever reason killing yourself is not justified because your life is precious, even if it's a tough problem and there seems to be no way out, but try to face the problem and don't be a coward by killing yourself. It's true that it will be difficult, but believe that all problems have solutions.. just try to get help from others and maybe you will get a solution to the problems you face. Don't try to take the shortcut of suicide because it won't solve any problems.

He is still fragile, and recovering his morale is more important. On the time that you have given up on facing up your problem then the nearest solution that you would be having in mind is to commit suicide because this will be that solve out everything or you wont be that minding anymore when you are dead on which this kind of decision is indeed absurd. Come to think that in every problem on which there's a solution on which means that you could just that basically having that kind of courage on facing up the problems that you do have in life so that you would be able to find yourself that being enlightened and not just that easily give up. There are just that those  times or moments that you do become desperate but there's no way that you can be able to find but dont easily give up and just that pursue on trying to look up for another options on which you can be able to take.
